Yesterday one of the chickens fell three times; She had been having balance issues for a week or so, so we had moved her into her own small enclosure. I took her inside yesterday on account of her falling and we got her an appointment for later today.

Ossie passed overnight.

So I have to deal with that this morning... .-.

So hi there!

I found this little treasure while out hiking yesterday, and was wondering if anyone could identify it for me? I'm thinking its a small coyote or a fox, but wanted to ask and see if anyone could get me something specific :>

Found in DFW area Texas, if that helps any.

Probably a longshot, but any way to tell if it's male or female?

Everyone I’ve ever spoke to about my chickens: Yeah, so after a traumatic event, your chickens probably won’t lay for a few days

Also everyone I’ve ever spoke to about my chickens: When you move them to a new coop, they’re likely not to lay for a week or so, due to the adjustment period and stress it puts them under.

So unfortunately one of my wet specimens, no matter what I do, has decided to just... not work.

That being said, he’d pumped with alcohol, has been in several alcohol baths over a long while (a... half year at least?) so he’s not fresh or mostly water or anything, he’s still drowning in alcohol.

So I would assume I can’t just put him outside to rot and let bugs n’ things eat him. That sounds bad.

So how do I go about getting his skeleton, since that’s my only other option for this child?

I’m having like a fucking existential crisis cause there are thousands of caterpillars in my backyard and I literally have no idea where they came from; I have never seen this many caterpillars in my life all combined. I love caterpillars but I just ??? ?????????????? ?????????????????????????????

Tomorrow I’m gonna see if I have a jar big enough for his legs (or multiple ones if necessary) and see what I can do... If I have enough alcohol I’ll get started on them, if not, I at least have the jars ready lol
