“Karen?” Frank asked knocking on her door to her apartment. He’d bought a replacement window for the one that was shredded and he wanted to surprise her but he thought it’d be best if he just showed up and installed it. “I brought you food and a window. Food is downstairs need to grab it. But Window is kind of heavy and bulky.”
Karen had been avoiding her apartment as much as she could ever since that incident happened. It was luck that she happened to be here when Frank knocked on her door.
Opening the door just enough to see that it was actually him, Karen then opened it all of the way.
"You didn't have to do this."
“I know it doesn’t seem like it, and it seems like you shouldn’t trust me, but I’ve got your back.”
“I know you do. And I’ve got yours.” Karen saw herself in him a lot. Alone. Doing the wrong things, despite the fact that he felt what was right. Feeling like a monster is something she’s been dealing with for a while now.
“What do you need?”
“You’re so cute when you’re tired, you know.”
@darkcxrners
“Really?” A small smile played on his lips as he spoke, head tilting towards her. “Well, I’m glad you think so, Miss Page.”
“Miss Page.” Karen repeated, clearly amused as she rolled out of bed. “Do you want coffee?”

“Just gonna have to try harder is all.”
“Oh yeah?” Just for that she pokes him in the nose.
"Just tell me what you feel."
“Feel? I don’t feel anything.”
“Damn. I was hoping I could trick you.”
“I don’t know what you want me to say.”
“i can’t breathe.”
THREE WORD STARTERS // ACCEPTING
@darkcxrners
“Karen? What’s wrong?”
Karen had been speaking to herself, having absolutely no idea that Matt or anyone was here.
“Shit!” Karen hissed out, clutching at her chest. After a taking a few seconds to collect herself, Karen let go of her grip on her dress.
“Sorry. I wasn’t expecting you to be here.”
Remembering hat he had asked her question, Karen quickly answered him. “Oh. It’s nothing, just have a stupid cold.” If it hadn’t been obvious by now how hideous her voice was.
“Coffee sounds nice.” He said softly, “I’m pretty tired, myself.” He smiled at the hand on his shoulder and covered it with his own for a moment to give it a squeeze. Following her out into the hall, he leaned his hip against the door jamb. “What have you been getting up to lately, besides this?”
He felt guilty sometimes, when Karen let work stress her out. After all, it was in some ways his fault, being her boss. At least he wasn’t putting any disproportionate burden on her, and Matt knew she knew that.
He realized too late that he may have asked something of a dangerous question, should it be turned back to him. What could he possibly say? I joined our local fight club, and I just can’t get enough. His free time was spent almost exclusively protecting the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, but telling Karen that put her at great risk.
“Well, at least someone likes my coffee besides me.” She was sure Matt had heard about it from Foggy, that he wasn’t very fond of her coffee making skills. Apparently he couldn’t handle dark roast.
Pouring him a cup first, Karen gingerly placed it in his hands and waited until he had a grip on it before she let go. His question made her immediately feel uneasy, but she tried to brush it off.
“Just trying to organize things here so I don’t keep trying to find a pen when someone calls.” It wasn’t a lie, it just wasn’t the only thing she was up to. “Speaking about that, exterminator is coming next Tuesday to give one last spray in here. I hope thats okay?”
Karen had gone out the night before with Matt and Foggy and had way more to drink than she had originally anticipated. If she had realized just how much she would’ve been drinking, she certainly wouldn’t have worn the heels she had. Slowly coming to consciousness, Karen remembered vaguely stumbling and falling on the street while Foggy struggled to keep his grasp on her. He mentioned something about her being a worm, which had been the cause of great amusement for her as she howled with laughter at 4 in the morning in an otherwise quiet street. Immediately she realized she wasn’t in her own house, the sheets were a different texture to her familiar ones. Eyes shooting open in a panic, Karen quickly regretted rolling over so quickly, but she had to make sure. No one else was in the bed. That was a short lived relief, although now she had to try and put the pieces together. She knew this was Matt’s apartment, but why she was here and not her own apartment she couldn’t quite remember. “Matt?” Karen croaked out as she sat up in the bed, head pounding.
Daredevil Meme: Eight Scenes [2/8] ↳ “ Do you really think this is the first time I’ve shot someone?”
“Well then, let’s pray the Mask gets his hands on him. Knocks his goddamn head off.”
“Because you’re probably exhausted.”
Matt let out a soft chuckle. He knew the feeling. They’d all been working hard, tirelessly, even all day. And if anyone deserved a break, it was Karen. He felt her eyes on him and gave a small smile.
“Absolutely. You’ve been doing good work. Probably more than me and Foggy combined. Should I leave you alone so you can blow off steam, or do you feel like company?”
She was exhausted, but he didn’t need to know that. The least professional thing she could do was to complain about how tired she was. Smiling weakly in response to his own, Karen felt her stomach drop just slightly when he offered to leave her alone. Alone was not a good place for Karen to be right now. Not when it meant her thoughts had to go to all the negative things happening in her life right now outside of work. “No.” Karen said quickly. “No, you’re fine. I don’t mind the company.” Scooting her chair back, Karen got to her feet. “I just need to get some coffee. You want any?” Karen reached out to put her hand on his shoulder to give it a small squeeze as she walked past him, letting it slide off of him once she was out of reach.
