Today is Morrowind's 24th Birthday! The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was released on May 1st of 2002, nearly a quarter of a century ago!

It's crazy to think how much has changed in the past 24 years, how different the game can look now with so many fantastic mods, how much more content there is to explore and discover in 2026.

But no matter what changes or how quickly the years fly by, Morrowind remains forever home!

And of course, today is also the 12th anniversary of the Morrowind Modathons, the biggest annual competition in The Elder Scrolls modding community! The 2026 Morrowind Modathon is already underway, and a number of mods have already been released in the first opening hours of the competition!

The Morrowind Modathons run from May 1st through to June 2nd on Nexus Mods, and they're open to any and all mods and modders, so if you'd like to participate in this annual month-long celebration of the greatest Elder Scrolls game ever made, you've still got plenty of time!

Check out our announcement thread on the Nexus, which will be updated on a regular basis with new participating mods, or stop by the Discord channel to learn how to participate in the competition yourself!

It's that time of year again, on May 1st, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind will turn 24 years old, inching ever closer to that quarter-of-a-century milestone, and to celebrate this historic occasion, the Morrowind Modding Community is proud to present the 12th consecutive annual Morrowind May Modathon Month Modding Competition!

Starting on May 1st and going through to June 2nd, any and all mods and modders are welcome to participate in the 2026 Morrowind Modathon, a free-for-all modding competition and modding extravaganza to celebrate Morrowind's 24th anniversary!

Since 2015, some 1,800 mods have been submitted for the Morrowind Modathons, and I sincerely hope you'll all join us for another exciting round of this proud annual modding tradition!

There will, of course, be shiny new achievement badges for modders to unlock, weekly random-drawing prizes (in the form of Steam game keys), new weekly themed challenges to flex your creative muscles, and much more! To learn more about the competition and how you can participate, check out our announcement threads on the Nexus or on Reddit, or stop by our Discord channel with any questions you might have!

This year, we have over 90 different achievement badges for modders to unlock by releasing mods, including standard-fare metric and category achievements, as well as themed challenge achievements, and numerous hidden cheevos - can you guess the requirements based solely on a name? Unlock as many as you can and embed them into your mod pages or your Nexus profiles!

Itching for a challenge or want a writing prompt to get you started? This year we have another batch of four weekly challenge themes, can you make a mod to match each one? Remember, these challenge themes are, of course, OPTIONAL, but if you want to go for that extra creative flex, they do come with a number of new achievement badges for you to unlock!

Morrowind Mod of the Day - Unholy Trinity - Dagoth Ur - Vemynal - Odrosal Remade by Glittergear and Kildozery

Atop the peaks of Red Mountain lies the bastions and citadels of the Sixth House, fortresses guarding the way to Dagoth Ur, each commanded by Dagoth Ur's loyal brothers and lieutenants.

These hives of despair are Morrowind's final dungeons, the home of the legendary artifacts of Sundar and Keening, the exciting thrilling chapters to Morrowind's main quest.

Except, in vanilla Morrowind, these dungeons were a boring, short, and forgettable slog through copy&pasted corridors and chambers with nothing much to see at all!

Today's Mod of the Day changes all of that, for today we're showcasing Unholy Trinity, a dungeon overhaul mod that overhauls three of the major strongholds of the Sixth House on Red Mountain, utterly transforming these once dull dungeons into truly unique and exciting adventures, as is only suitable for the game's grand finale.

These three Dwemer ruins are now major citadels that play major parts in the machinations of Dagoth Ur. The citadel of Vemynal is the industrial heart of the Sixth House, pumping out weapons for the war effort. Odrosal is a diseased hive of decay, where the corruption of the blight and corprus are on gruesome display.

And the citadel of Dagoth Ur is a massive dungeon that delves deep into the fiery heart of Red Mountain, where legions of Sixth House followers have gathered to defend their lord!

Each dungeon is filled with verticality and atmosphere, with epic scale to fit the grand closing scenes of the Morrowind main quest, and they are a delight to explore! I strongly recommend giving this mod a try for yourself!
