Whiskers were tickling his cheek. They were..purrs? 

“HEeeeeey!!!”

And now whispers. Feelings of being hit. Shouts, yells, and a metal club. Arceus not the metal club..!

“HEY! YOU! Down there!” 

The purring subsided and turned into a gasp. A small, scared gasp. Something he’d heard before. Where was it..when was it..? The teen wheezed, and groaned. It was hard to breathe..

“DUMBSHIT!” 

...Who the fuck called him that? It was a struggle, but the image of everything blurred. Before, everything was hot and smoldered, including the ground but here..? It was moist, cold, rocky...and a new feeling of something crawling up his back. 

Getting a better look, the first thing he saw above was a red-haired figure with a..tail-

Oh no it’s that obnoxious girl. Gaius coughed and while he couldn’t get up there was a hissing on top of him. The thing that crawled up his back. Glancing up he spotted the bug type-a Whimpod being courageous..? 

Watching it and then back to the girl, the grunt finally sighed and closed his eyes. He was too weak and tired for this. Groaning more in pain, he sighed and slipped into the unconscious. 

He only felt himself being dragged and the hissing of a bug on his back.

“Use Dragon Rage, my man!” Gaius shouted the final command immediately towards his new Salandit. He had just caught him and Euro was finally proving how much stronger he was..even to the totem Pokemon of this volcano. A large blue flame in the shape of a dragon rushed towards the large Salazzle; a bull’s eye. Following the leader, the other Salandit fell. All except for Euro. The small Salandit huffed in pride and rushed towards the white-haired trainer with glee. 

Gaius immediately held the lizard and gave him a squeeze, “You did brilliantly! You kick the shit out of that huge bitch! Didn’t cha? Didn’t chooooooo?” He laughed, nuzzling his nose against the lizard’s snout.

‘I was guided to you. I don’t know, but something told me to seek help from you! Aaand you have! You’re going to guide me home!’

“..I hope so. I can’t even find my own home.. let alone your’s, dummy.”

His lungs were burning, and even his hearing wasn’t picking up a thing from the outside. Just static while the moon beamed down upon him. Ah...Lunala was probably laughing at him..

*SLAP!* *CRASH!* “Get yourself togetha, boy! Stop crying! STOP CRYING!” 

Wincing at such a thought and those confusing emotions, Gaius felt himself slip back into the unconscious. He hoped his Pokemon were okay from the fall...

And Newbie......oh Arceus, Newbie...

The Trial leader, Kiawe came over, presented the new Z-move, and the grunt was on his way. Letting Euro to be out with Newbie, Gaius rushed down the mountain. 

“That was so badass! You, Terror, and even Newbie beat the hell out of them. They had nowhere to go!” 

The Cutiefly chirped, ‘Yup, yup!’ soon followed by a yawn, ‘Let’s get fooooood food food and sleep. Please??’

Euro nodded his head with a flick of his tongue and Gaius replied, “Sounds good. Let’s head to the PokeCen--”

Although coming down the mountain, a pair of people caught his eye. No..they were Team Skull. His family! “..Here wait a minute-Hey GUYS!” The white-haired skidded down the volcano and stopped at the ridge behind the two grunts, “Heyyy! Whatcha doing here? Lookin’ for tourists, or-”

“It’s you. We’re looking for you, brother.” One of the grunts sighed and shrugged, “ ‘Sorry but you’re not one of us anymore. Give us your swag, bro. Your Pokemon provided too.” 

“What...” Gaius took a step back, shaking his head, “What do you mean? Why?” In response, Euro crawled up to the trainer’s head, ready for a Flame Burst. He was strong enough...right? Newbie was a bit worried, though. But she did float up and flew at them, squeaking,

‘No you go away! We just fought a battle an--’

“WOAH! A talking Cutiefly? Then this is another reason! Unless you wanna give her to us?” The girl grunt exclaimed, “Aah she’s so cute sounding! I want her!” She brought out her Drowzee and started to try to catch the bug pokemon. Newbie cried out and retreated back to Gaius’ hair, shaking.

“I won’t give her to you. It’s just a stupid talking Cutiefly, no big deal! Now explain, or else..!”

Soon the male grunt took out his own Raticate and sighed, “Listen’ no hard feelings, kay? Lately you just got off without warning, you haven’t been sharing your expenses, you haven’t been sayin’ you’re apart of our group..and on top of that you haven’t helped us in nabbing Pokemon! You’ve even fought a couple of us! Our Boi Guzma is furious!” 

The boy grew pale, but it was quick to turn, angry, “I told you I was going undercover! A-and apart of that is not being spotted by others! That includes fighting off you guys and seeming to appear good-”

“Yer’ doin’ a good job considering you’ve been taking down a lot of us.” The Raticate at the grunt’s side gnashed his teeth, “The boss wants us to take you back home, that way we can all beat you up for turning on us!” 

“Its only fair, hehe!~” The girl grunt, stepped forward, “Give us that Cutiefly, too~ All of your Pokemon will be given to us, as will your money. You’ll learn not to mess with Guzma!~” 

“Shut up! You’re not coming near us! So shut up, shut UP! H-hey! Step away-!” They were coming towards him, and Gaius was slipping at the edge, “I’m serious! You’ll regret it!” With a snarl, the white-haired finally stepped forward and released Terror, Grey, Agate, and Ben. Y’wanna fight? You’ll get it!” He didn’t want to do this, he desperately didn’t want to do this. He and all of his Pokemon were weak from the recent battle and now he was fighting against family? 

Figures this was all a trap. Family was nothing more than a word full of lies. The voices within told him to get them and protect his bug friends. Bugs were the only things he had left. Anger was welling within him  at how STUPID he was to not realize this from the beginning! So he pointed, “Alright! Go! Everyone, attack! Leave no merCEe-”

From above, a large Pokemon suddenly dropped down. All around, flames rose up and burned both sides and all the Pokemon. Gaius only had a few seconds to see and feel that large dog snatch Newbie from his hair. It was such precision that he didn’t feel the bite from his hair. Just the flames and the force that threw him and his Pokemon off the cliff. Gaius reached out and called for the Cutiefly, but the large striped, orange, dog raced down the mountain and out of his and everyone’s sights. 

And then. Nothing.

It’s been a whole YEAR since my last realistic Pokémon drawing. I’ve been meaning to do the Sun and Moon starter evolutions so here’s a WIP shot of Dartrix so far (need to fix the feet a little bit). Its eye are partially open because we all know Dartrix is smug as shit and looks down upon us all ;)
