Hey everyone! I’m pretty sure I’ve got at least some Stargate fans in this following. There’s a big push to get more Stargate headed by Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, and MGM is paying attention to the fan response. We weren’t able to get through to Syy about Dark Matter, but we’re hoping we can get through to MGM for Stargate. It’s called the Stargate Initiative and we need your help!
You can follow the effort on Tumblr at @stargatenow , but the best thing is to follow StargateNow on Twitter. The tweetstorms coming up will look familiar; part of the Dark Council is part of the Stargate Initiative (myself included), and we’re working with Joe on this project. We’d love more support!
We’re also looking for people to make gifs, fan art, and images for the campaign. You can message me here if you’re interested and I can get you in touch.

The effort to get Dark Matter an ending is still underway. The first action was limited by a time constraint as the most practical solution would have been an immediate pick up. That is why we focused our effort on twitter. It got the attention we wanted, but contractual issues made the pick up impossible. So now we must take our time to plan our next move as cast and crew won’t be so readily available. That is not a bad thing : it only means that we have to approach the situation from a different angle. All future actions will be relayed here as well as on the @DarkMatterFTL twitter account, so keep an eye out!

To join, write a letter (Yes, an actual letter!) saying what Dark Matter means to you. Write it longhand or use your computer and print up the results. Send to: Prodigy Pictures, 124 The East Mall, Toronto, Ontario, M8Z 5V5 (CANADA). Deadline is November 15st, 2017.

Thank you for participating! Honestly, the fans made this happen. We wouldn’t have accomplished all this if there wasn’t so much love and energy in the Dark Matter community. I only wish the outcome had been better. Sadly we can’t do much when it comes down to distribution and contractual obligations. But we can make sure the Raza won’t be forgotten.

Twitter analytics follow a specific set of rules. For trending to happen, the best hashtag is one that was never used before and is tweeted all at once by as many people as possible. It can’t be tweeted alongside another hashtag (only one hashtag per tweet) and retweets count just as much as an original tweet. Account with big following have the most impact on trends.
1. We will be posting a hashtag in our Twitter account @DarkMatterFTL.
2. We the fans will need to spread this hashtag out at a very specific time window. IT’S SUPER IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT USE THE HASHTAG BEFORE THE TIME FRAME.
3. When the time comes, post your tweets with ONLY ONE HASHTAG in it.
4. Retweets are important and they’re are as good as tweeting.
5. Make sure your account is public.

« All good things must come to an end – some much sooner than expected. Sadly, such is the case for Dark Matter. Despite word of the cancellation by syfy, fandom rose up and gave us new hope. We sought to buck the odds and find our little show a new home. But unfortunately, I just learned that our final option has proven unworkable due to contractual issues. It’s a shame because these potential saviors reached out to me and offered a creative solution that, had it worked, would have been a sci-fi fan’s dream scenario. But, alas, it was not to be. Are all of these tweet storms having any kind of effect? I know its been only a month since the cancellation. But isn't there a time frame before entirely doing over cost a hecka more than now?
It is having an effect! The data of each tweet storm have been communicated to every potential partners. The reason two of them eventualy dropped off did come down to money and distribution, but what had them seriously considering our little show as a big opportunity is its established and faithful viewership.
Picking up a existing show is only interesting for a broadcaster if it comes with the garantee of an increased audience for them. Fans tweeting and getting big numbers on an extended period of time shows the people currently in talk that they will acquire exactly that with Dark Matter. It is the reason the discussions started and it is the reason they are persisting despite the costs and difficulties.

In order to maximize our reach in the U.S., we had to schedule our FTL Friday tweet storms at times that proved…inconvenient for many of our international fans. We apologize for that but, again, this was really a result of a need to LOUDLY target a potential new U.S. home for the show (since we already have nice comfy homes overseas and in Canada). (x)
