I like this idea of Sora as the Unchosen One. Like, he was not born into being special. What is special that he cares and reaches out. The Worlds love him not for being the Chosen One but for who he is, what he does, and that he helped them. The same goes for the Kingdom Key. Even if Riku's heart might have played a role, the Kingdom Key chose Sora as worthy.

Yes, I prefer Sora to be “unchosen”- an ordinary boy with a big heart.  And as an extension of Riku’s heart it’s not so much that the Kingdom Key “chose” Sora either, but that Riku’s heart entrusted him with it…for the same reasons you mentioned that the Worlds love him.  He is loved for who he is, not what he is.
