Pulling away, Shun took a deep breath. The second kiss was even better than the first, and Yuto’s warmth felt different from any other time they had been close. The cuddles to keep warm couldn’t even compare to the heat burning between the two now. 

Yet still, he didn’t understand. Shun couldn’t begin to register what sorts of feelings he had experienced. But Yuto…Yuto was all he wanted in that moment. 

"I…I don’t know if I understand. Didn’t you say…" Tongue tied, Shun’s eyes searched his companions for some sort of answer.

"I said I love you." It was much easier to say it than he thought it would be... The words simply rolled off his tongue and he locked his gaze on Shun's own, falling silent and staring into his companion's beautiful eyes. Instinctively, Yuto held the other close, not wanting to part from him now that he had finally realized how he felt about Shun. Now that he said it once, he didn't want to stop. He felt as if he needed to say it to make up for all the times in the past that he hadn't said how he felt... All the times that he had pushed his feelings aside. Yuto wasn't afraid that he'd scare Shun off... He was fearless, putting his absolute faith in his companion. "Shun..." Yuto reached a hand up, brushing teal from Shun's face and placing his hand on the other's cheek. "I love you..."

It was comforting to see that smile again. Yuto showed it so rarely, it was a wonder he could still remember how. Giving his own back, Shun gently placed his head upon the other’s. 

"Good. I worry about you, you know. I’m glad we still share the same bonds as before…" The soft black spikes tickles his nose, but he didn’t mind. Yuto was home, something warm and familiar he never wanted to part with.

His very special someone. 

"Here, how about we get warm around the fire hole we dug, hm? Better than my bony ass digging into you."

"Of course we still share the same bond, Kurosaki... Why would that ever change?" He gave Shun a curious look, though his smile never faded. And why would it? He was happy... Shun was his whole world, now that Ruri was gone- and Yuto was willing to put his own life on the line to defend that world.  "Sitting by the fire hole sounds really nice, though..." Yuto agreed with Shun's suggestion, lifting his head to look up at the male, a content expression taking hold of his features. This brought him back to days long since past... Not happy days, exactly... But memorable ones. Sitting and talking with Shun and Ruri as they indulged in the rare treat of a fresh meal, gathered around the fire and laughing late into the night, relaxed and happy if only for a few short hours.

Closing his eyes, Shun’s body instantly began to burn the moment Yuto’s lips met his own. He didn’t have enough time to return the kiss, eyes blinking open in surprise when his companion had pulled away. This is what had been eating on him…? 

Unsure of how to react, a few thoughts crossed Shun’s mind. He hadn’t thought he was gay…but if that felt nice, did that mean he was? The feelings he felt for Yuto had always been complicated, but he had always assumed it was because of how close they were. But now, it was obvious he couldn’t deny those feelings any longer. 

"Yuto…" Letting his body take control over his mind, Shun scooted himself closer to the other, wrapping an arm around Yuto’s midsection and pulling him into an ever deeper, warm kiss.

◄ ♠ ► Yuto would have replied with Shun's name, but his lips were preoccupied with the kiss, which he responded to by returning it, willingly and hungrily.  His own arm coiled around Shun's neck, other hand resting on the boy's hip as Yuto pressed his body closer to Shun... He craved the warmth and affection that the Raid Raptor duelist was pouring out. Heart pounding in his chest, Yuto realized that he had craved this for a long time, even when Ruri was around... He had always tried to deny his feelings or push them aside... But now, he wondered how long Shun had felt like this about him- how long the two had been locked in an endless cycle until one broke it...  Had it always been this way and neither realized it until just now? Or were these feelings new to them and only after Ruri was out of the picture, giving them more clarity and more time alone together to figure things out?

That was significantly easier than Reiji had expected, almost certain that he would have had outright rejection. Of course he wasn’t in it for the chase though- only to replace the tomato haired boy that had snared his heart.  

Reaching out to stroke the look alike’s face, his calloused hand was warm to the touch. “Anything, you say? Then let me take you home.” A small smile crept upon Reiji’s face, violet hues flickering with warmth. 

"Allow me to treat you to some tea, and perhaps a shoulder to cry on. I’ll treat you far better than Kurosaki ever has…"

The tea and someplace safe and warm... That was already more than Yuto could ask for, reminded of his nights sleeping in alleys and wherever he could find shelter. Something in Yuto tried to tell him not to do this, but his heart was already shattered and aching so what could it hurt to see if Reiji could piece it back together, even if it was only temporary.  Yuto knew that Reiji was likely out to use him, but all the same.... He wanted to trust that warm touch and the smile on the other's face.   "Please, take me far from here... Away from Shun..." He sounded so broken and weak. He was angry at himself for that and for following Reiji so willingly, but it only fed into his suffering and made him desire comfort more.
