Jason blinked in slight surprise and without glancing at the book - he knew it was a book - his hand shot out to try and grab West’s arm to stop him.

Next thing he knew, he was kissing the corner of Jason’s mouth- mostly because that was as close to a full on kiss as he dared- and then pulling away with a slight flush.

"….I missed you too."

He looked up at the feeling of the small peck before giving a small smirk at the sight of the flush, even if it wasn’t that much.

"But still you stayed away?"

Wally looked away, rubbing the back of his neck. "You...kinda didn't want me around, remember? Everything got awkward...you liked me but you didn't want to." he shrugged slightly, swallowing back the hurt in his voice.

"We were arguing and getting mixed signals from eachother....I didn't wanna lose you but I didn't wanna fight anymore. So, yeah. I stayed away.....sorta."

Jason blinked in slight surprise and without glancing at the book - he knew it was a book - his hand shot out to try and grab West’s arm to stop him.

Wally had felt a little defensive at Jason’s tone, but his head tilted at the expression on his face, intrigued. He’d never seen Jason look like that and he didn’t understand but he assumed the gift was a good one this time if it made the brunette look like that.

It was the admission that really caught him off guard and made his eyes unknowingly fill with happiness and hope. “Really?” right after he’d asked, there was a little apprehension that Jason might be using dry humor on him, but he didn’t let it show

The look on West’s face was almost annoying him but he ignored the feeling and just tried to resist killing the older of the two. Because he wanted to, or just hug him, because that was better than nothing, but he wasn’t sure if he should. 

Jason’s lips parted and his tongue darted slowly over his his lips before giving a short nod. “Yes, really.” He whispered before looking down, unsure about what else he should do.

"Erk-" he was forced to stop at the feel of pressure on his arm, knowing he was grabbed and surprised considering not many people could catch him. He mostly stopped out of habit. He didn’t want to rip Jason’s arm off from the momentum, afterall. He also should have known deciding to give this gift in person instead of leaving them around like the others might get him caught. He turned slightly and gave a sheepish smile.

"Um, hi. Long time no see?"

While West was in thought, or whatever it was that he was in, surprise maybe, Jason looked down at the newest gift he could put in his already growing collection. His lips parted in slight surprised and the look in his eyes got softer, giving them a blue-ish color as he looked at the older of the two. “No, long time no see.” He gave dry chuckle but the smile on his face was a little sad. Jason stayed silent for a couple of moments before finally speaking up again,

"I’ve missed you."

Jason chuckled softly. “Hello, West, is there a reason why you’re pointing out our physical attraction to me?”

Wally watched him in surprise, tongue darting out to taste his lips after Jason’s impromptu kiss. Well, now his attention was perked, except…. "I’m guessin’ you’d be really mad if I tried to distract you in the library, huh?" And yet he’d stood up to follow Jason.

Jason snorted at the question, but felt amused when he heard him stand up. “I could be, are you going to distract me on purpose?” He glanced over his shoulder for a moment before tsking. “The library is big enough, if I didn’t want you to annoy me on purpose, you wouldn’t be able to.”

"I might" he agreed cheekily, following after Jason like a puppy (not that he'd ever admit it).

"You forget I got superspeed? I could find you quick enough even if it's a big library. I can run from here to China in like 15 minutes, top."

That definitely got his attention, surprised at the gesture and staring up at Jason in a slight daze. “Uhm….I thought I was trying to sit still?” he was definitely lost in the conversation, too caught up in resisting the urge to touch his cheek and make sure that it had actually happened and maybe there might be traces of warmth there.

Okay, that was amusing. The peck effected West more than he’d expected or predicted, not that he minded. Maybe if he did..? would he react like this with that as well? “You were trying but you didn’t succeed,” He gave a soft chuckle before leaning in and pecking him on the lips this time. “But I’m going now.” He whispered with a soft smile before turning to walk to the library.

Jason sighed softly before placing his book down and walking over to West. He gave him a small - albeit a little wry - smile before leaning in to peck his cheek. “You don’t have to, but I’m going to the library, feel free to come with me but please do something, you can’t sit still, you know.”

"I’m not lying, I just don’t think saying it matters!" he grumped with a huff before slumping his shoulders.

"Look I’m tryin’ not to annoy you, alright? Since I obviously do that a lot it’s kinda….hard."

Jason didn’t answer on that and just gave him a look before averting his gaze slightly. “You’re not annoying me a lot, just… right now, I suppose…” He sighed softly.

That made him slump more. "Yeah....guess I should go then, huh?" he hated being a bother to Jason, especially since he liked the guy. But if wasn't going to force his company on the other male.

Hal’s flinched only slightly when Wally started to berate him, and a heavy sigh fell from his lips before he clenched his fist a bit tighter than before. “Ring identify the individual in front of me.” His brow furrowed into a more stern expression than before. After a moment Wally was basked in green light as it shout out from Hal’s finger.

Hal sighed quietly as he unclenched his hand, and the green light covering Wally’s form faded. “You’re no clone, Wally. We’ve been taking extra precautions, and Barry…well he’s wanted to come to you, but Batman and Superman have decided it’s for the best he remains distant. Plus; we have Batman, and a huge satellite, obviously we figured out you came back. The only problem was how to proceed after that. I…I’m probably going to get a lecture when I head back to the Watchtower tonight.” Sighing heavily he tugged on the boy’s collar gently. “If you ever need help…you can always call your Uncle Hal. Even if it goes against League rules; I’m always going to be here for you pal.”

Well that was one less worry off his back, for sure, and it showed as the tension in his jaw relaxed, but his shoulders still remained squared and hard, his whole body likes of anxiety and anger even as he glared up at Hal, feeling betrayed.

"So just because Batman and Superman said so, the League thought it was okay to leave me alone on the streets to fend for myself? I've been sleeping in a foreclosed building that's due to be demolished in a week! Ontop of cardboard boxes like some homeless person- which apparently I am now!" He snorted, growling.

"Did you know I've been stealing, uncle Hal? Just to eat? Pickpocketing's apparently my new thing." The expression on his face was cruel and slightly unhinged. There was a loud crackle and snap as static electricity zipped across his fisted hands in streaks of red.

"If the League's really that casual about abandoning people, then maybe I don't need them or Young Justice anymore. Maybe I don't need you or uncle Barry either. Especially since you were okay with those orders." That last part hurt to say, but Wally was hurting too. Hurting from being abandoned and kicked to the side. Replaced with Bart in both family and job. Maybe the Rogues were right, he should have joined them.

"Okay. Tonight works… just know that you are welcome for longer…" Dick reminded gently as he looked down too. He was doing a horrible job of trying to make Wally feel better. He tried to think of something to say to lighten the mood but nothing came to mind. Dick hung his head and let out a soft sigh.

He had remained alone for too long. He felt like everything he said was weird and everything he was going to say was awkward or was going to make things worse. “You… you know I’m not mad at you or upset… right? I… I don’t blame you for what happened today…. You’re going to be okay….” Dick tried to reassure him and gently squeezed his hand.

Wally nodded that he understood Dick's offer, the silence thick between them before he ventured out a soft "Thank you," in a sincere tone that was odd on the speedster if only because of his usually loud and boisterous nature.

There was another long pause, with Wally letting out a shaky breath and putting down his fork. He didn't look up though his fingers twitched as if they wanted to squeeze back. "....You should be. Mad at me, I mean. I attacked you like a jerk for no reason."

He stopped drumming and chewed the inside of his cheek before sitting back and trapping his own hands between his thighs because clearly, anything and everything he did annoyed Jason.

"…..Nothing."

Jason sniffed softly and rolled his eyes. “I don’t like it when people lie to me, West, so please refrain from doing so.” He sighed and placed his book down, clasping his hands in front of him on the table. “Not tell, what is it?”

"Oh that’s right…we’ve been keeping our distance since you…shoot." A heavy sigh fell from Hal’s lips as he landed firmly on the ground in front of the young speedster. "You know you should really go see your uncle, Wal. He’s been missing you, but doing his best to keep out of your business; League orders."

Putting his hand on Wally’s head, Hal rustled with the ginger’s raggedy hair briefly. “It’s good to see you again, Kid. How have things been since that…ordeal?”

Wally was wary as Hal approached. He couldn't help it. Ever since he'd put himself back together he felt....wrong. Darker. Distrustful of everything and everyone. Hal's words didn't help any as he narrowed his eyes up at the Lantern.

"The League knew? More than half of my old team doesn't even know! You're telling me they knew all along that I somehow came back from whatever limbo I was in and no one reached out?!" his tone was accusing and getting more and more agitated until the hair ruffle. That just made him bristle and turn his face away, exposing the silvery splicing lines crisscrossing his neck and disappearing into his shirt.

"How've I been? Really? Let's see- I came back alone and confused as hell, my powers won't work right, I don't feel like myself at all, I'm angry all the time, I live in an abandoned building trying to survive because I left my girlfriend - who by the way moved on just fine - and my friends are a just as bad a mess as me or don't believe I'm really me; I'm now dealing with the idea that I could be some failure clone and oh, right -- my own parents freaked out when they saw me and I couldn't find my aunt or uncle anywhere when I needed them!"

Jason eventually grabbed his book again and began to read again, only looking up once the drumming began to annoy him slightly. “What?”
