For all purpose cara lived a solitary life in the forest lands. She preferred her privacy and had her own live stock and small sections of crop for personal use. It was a small looking cottage from the outside. But it extended into the depths of the earth. Almost double the size underground than above. For now she sat on her porch, rocking softly in a wooden chair she bought a few seasons back from the towns. She was waiting for her lunch guest to arrive.
DarkWind materialized on the roof, perching on the gables of the human abode above Cara where she rocked. He did nothing to hdie himself, but nor did he show his face. He bent a knee to his chest and watched her with an enigmatic smile. “The great scarlet trickster,” he purred “How I have longed to make your aquientance.”
Cara slowly smirked and tilted her head up to see Dark wind “flattery will not earn you favour with me… I’m well aware of your own impressive lineage” she replied, her chair slowly to a halt.
“My impressive breeding, such as it was, can hardly compare to what you’ve done with a much more meager upbringing,” DarkWind slid from the roof and dropped onto the porch before her. “Making dirt into diamonds, such as it was.”
“I’m not one to brag” she hummed, her eyes raking over darkwinds form as she too, stood up. “Egos are fickle things… To little and you are stuck in a meagre life with ordinary things. Too much can get you killed.” Cara smirked and stepped closer to him. “But just the right amount can afford you the luxuries without the tricky little extras like enemies” she chuckled and flicked her hair back over her shoulder
“Enemies I can reckon with,” DarkWind glanced at the home. “And speaking of humble things…the stories I’ve heard of your deeds don’t seem possible from such an abode.”
“You should never judge something by its appearance, you know that better than most” she smirked, opening her door and gesturing for him to enter.
DarkWind pocketed his hands and entered the hut casually. “I wonder what else you keep hidden beneath your…appearences,” he ourred
“That is for me to know and for you to never see” she replied, guiding him down a narrow set of stairs. Once below ground, the true siza and awe of her home was revealed to him.
With a low whistle, DarkWind perused the shelves of knicknacks and fermented items. “A woman of such vast talents….what captures your interest of late?”
“Life…” She replied, winding through the shelves and tables till she reached the large oak one in the centre. “Life captures my interest” she said.
“How predictable an answer. I expected more from you,” DarkWind taunted.
Cara raised an eyebrow at him “I do not mean simply immortality” she snapped. “I’m referring to the very essence of an immortal” she smirked slowly at him.
“Curious,” he tipped his head. “And…what have you found?”
“I shan’t divulge my research to you until I am certain you posess knowledge or skills of use to me” she said flatly, rising an eyebrow in question.
“My talents are many. Perhaps I could find a means of…procuring the essence you seek,” DarkWind offered lazily.
“If you were to present me with a method of doing that… I would be very grateful” she replied, her tounge lingering slightly on the word ‘very’
“Grateful enough to…perhaps…give me insight into your research?” DarkWind mused, propping his elbow against one of the tables.
Cara drew in a slow breath, the necklace that lay on her chest rising with it. “The request isn’t completely unexpected… Although-” she Raised an eyebrow at him. “You should know I do not work alone… If your involvement should be known, I can’t promise protection for you against my… Partner”
“Keep him away from me,” DarkWind’s voice had a biting edge, “and I’ll keep away from him. Simple enough.” He glanced toward the door. “I suppose, having my work cut out for me, I should go. What do you say to meeting...weekly, to report on progress?”
