Leadership must be earned, and one way or another, I will have that charter.
Hayley Marshall in For the Next Millennium.
Suited stranger
“You deserve to be treated like a princess.” He said. “So what do you say? Let me take you to a nice bar?”
Alice eyed cato for a moment while she though about it. It would be a reckless thing to do, going out with a guy she meet hanging out by a dumpster. Plus the way he was dressed meant he was either some banker out to cheat on his wife, a secret mr grey. Either way she didn’t mind to much.
“Alright then suit” she nodded. “Take me to the most expensive bar in town” she demanded.
Cato smirked at her. “When do you get off, Alice?”
“11pm but I’ll be ready about 11:15. Gota fix up this birds best if we are going out” she chuckled, ruffling her hair a little
Cato nodded. “I’ll be back around 11:15, then.” He said.
“Make sure you bring your wallet” she said simply, turning and heading back inside.
Cato chuckled as he walked away.
11:25* Alice stood in te dimly lit bathroom of the shop, touching up her makeup. Instead of just sorting her hair out, Alice decided to go all out for her date with random alley guy. She borrowed a dress from a co-worker. Tight fitting short black dress that made her ass look awesome and it had a low neck line that made her cleavage look even better. She’d pulled her hair tie out and let the curls fallto their natural place and went with the smokey look for makeup. All in all alice scrubbed up pretty fucking good. She grabbed her purse and headed out front.
Cato was standing in front of the dinner with his hands in his pockets.
“You better have a car nearby, I’m not walking across town” she said flatly, locking the door and pushing the keys through the small letterbox. Alice flicked her hair over her shoulder as she straightened back up to see him.
Cato looked back at her and raised an eyebrow. “Wow…you look stunning.” He said.
Alice shrugged “this?” She questioned. “This is just my casual wear” she smiled
Cato chuckled at her. “Oh I’m sure.” He said.
Alice raised an eyebrow “well are you gona stand there gawking or are we going for a drink?”
“My car is parked over here.” Cato walked her around the corner and stopped in front of a sleek black car.
Date night
“So I know you’re not human…but I can’t place your scent.” He said. “And I’m sorry.” He chuckled. “I’m a born werewolf…my sense of smell is pretty strong.”
Soheila couldn’t help the small smile that tugged briefly at her lips “OH umm… I’m a phenoix” she relpied
Lukas raised an eyebrow as he looked over at her. “Really? That explains that…I thought they were just a myth.” He grinned at her. “That’s awesome.” He said.
“What does it explain?” She asked curiously, watching him walk around the truck and climb in the other side.
“That explains why I couldn’t place your scent.” He said, starting the truck. His truck was old and it matched the color of Soheila’s dress. “I haven’t really been around many other monsters...I had a pack of werewolves when I was a kid but our pack was wiped out when I was a kid and I’ve been around humans since then.” He said.
Date night
Soheila had spent the entire week, contemplating the pros and cons to this potential date. She had agreed to it on a whim and put no thought into it really. After speaking with her mother about it she was even more lot. Hoping Felicia would forbid her from going. Fliss did quite the opposite. She encouraged her daughter to go. Fliss knew that her baby girl was protected from nearly any potential attacker. And she knew soheila needed to find friends outside their small family circle. She even gave her the money for a new outfit. Soheila planned ahead, again trying to provoke lukas. In truth she wasn’t sure why she wanted to trouble him. She was promised dinner. They would probably attend some low cost diner or cafe. So she dressed up. A sleek dark green dress that hugged her curves. She was well toned and had remarkable muscle definition thanks to her hours of training. She pinned her hair back and up, and went for the more natural look when applying her makeup. To say she looked out of place in the White fang diner was an understatement. She glanced up at the clock ’ 6:55’. Lukas had 5 minutes to come through those doors or Sohelia was leaving through them.
Lukas came through the door at 6:57 wearing a black button up shirt with the top botton undone and his sleeves rolled up, khaki pants, and black shoes. He was holding two dozen white roses. “I meant to be here earlier but there was a line at the flower shop.” He said. He stared at her for a secon and smiled. “You look beautful.” He said.
Soheila stood up, gaming a few inches thanks to her black ankle boots. “I never asked you to buy me flowers” she said, but her tone was soft, More surprise than anger
“I wantd to buy you flowers. A girl like you deserves all the roses in the world…but if you wanted dinner this is all I can swing until my next paycheck.” He flashed her a grin and handed her the roses. Even in her heels he still towered over her.
Soheila swallowed harshly and slowly accepted the flowers. She’d never been gifted anything from a person outside the family before. She set them on the counter “wait here a moment” she said, quickly rushing out back to the empty kitchen. She leaned her hands on the metal table and took a few deep breaths. She slowed her breathing, readjusted her dress and straightened her back. “Show no weakness” she thought to herself. A few minutes passed before soheila pushed through the kitchen doors. She grabbed her purse and headed for the door “I assume you’ve chose. Somewhere nice” she said flatly, her voice show a slight tenseness only a keen eye would spot.
Lukas could smell her nerves but he didn’t show that he could. “Nicest resturaunt in town.” He said.
“Good” she said, waiting by the door for him to open it. “Are we walking or do you have a car?”
“I’ve got an old truck…I cleaned the inside, don’t worry.” He said, walking towards the door and holding it open for her.
Soheila “well I suppose that will have to do” she said, stepping out in to the street and relishing the cold air against her skin. “Well come on” she insisted.
Lukas walked over and opened the truck door. “I have an odd question?” He asked, tilting his head.

diner duty
since the ceremony of the passing of the power a month ago, the whole family seemed different. Nobody will tell Soheila what was going on exactly. Just that some bad stuff was going on and she should be careful. She was also being esprted most places too. Felicia was picking her up from the diner. Sam was taking her to the diner. Nero would pop up if she tried to go anywhere alone. It was suffocating. But one thing that did help was being able to take control at the diner when sam was absent. Which was becoming more frequent.
Soheila stood behind the counter, adding the final sprinkles to the fresh batch of cupcakes as she set them in the cabinet. Her hair was half pinned up to keep her face open, and she was wearing a pair of jeans with a fairly tight but long blue top. Blue always looked good against Soheilas skin.
Lukas walked in wearing a black and dark gray flannel, his hair messy and falling across his shoulders. He sat down at the bar, running his hands down his face. His knuckles were busted and he had a bruise along his jaw. He looked grumpy.
Soheila felt her inner clean freak tense, but she didn’t let it show. She set the last cupcake in the case, wiped her hands on her apron and raised an eyebrow at the new patron “Coffee?” she said simply
Lukas looked up at her, raising an eyebrow. “Oh…yeah…black.” He said, watching her out of the corner of his eye.
Soheila stood still, hand on her hip as she waited for the ‘please’
Lukas raised both eyebrows and slowly looked directly at her. “Please?”
Soheila turned and walked across to the machine, setting about making his coffee. She hummed softly under her breath, thinking about what her mother was doing at grandpa adams for the 6th day in a row
Lukas stared down at the menu. When Soheila brought his coffee he smirked up at her. “Thank you.” He said.
The ceremony
Cato rolled his eyes. “Haven’t you heard, Ashton? Nobody trusts me.”
“That ain’t what I see from your wife and kids,” Ashton remarked. “Sounds like you’re throwin’ a regular ol’ pity party.”
“Don’t act like you aren’t all waiting for me to screw up again.” Cato said, leaning against the sink.
Ashton shut the water off sharply and glared at Cato. “Boy, do I look like I got time to stand around wonderin’ if you’re gonna blow your top? I got one daughter with five kids to raise and another who’s a hundred pounds’a rebellious teenager. You’re the least of my worries!” He grabbed paper towels angrilly from the dispenser. “We got a sayin’ down south…don’t worry ‘bout the bull ‘til he’s broken the fence. I ain’t gonna ride your fence waitin’ for you to bust out. You bust out, I’ll deal with it. ‘Til then, spare the attitude. You ain’t winnin’ any favors by actin’ like a bitchy little cuss ‘cause you ain’t got your way.”
Cato closed his mouth sharply and stared at him. “Enjoy the party.” Cto said quietly, looking down at his feet.
Ashton sank the wadded-up paper towel into the trashcan and strode for the door. He paused with his hand on it. “You ever think your daddy’s testin’ you, to see how you hold up when it looks like you’re on the losin’ end?” he said. “Think about it, son. Everything’s a chance to prove yourself. Best start thinkin’ what kinda message you’re gonna send.”
Cato looked back up at him and slowly nodded. As Ashton left Cato turned and washed his hands and made sure to stop the bleeding before he went back out into the ballroom and sat down beside Bucky without saying a word.
Lily found sam outside, leaning on the metal railings and staring out at the meadow. She slowly approached and joined him, sighing softly “you seen your dad yet? I know ari’s sitting with my mom but your dads not there” she said quietly.
Sam jerked like he’d beendeep in thought, glancing at Lily. He frowned. “No, I haven’t seen him in a couple days, actually. Neither has my mom,” he rubbed his hands together in a trademark Sam-style show of nervousness. “He’ll be here, though. He wouldn’t miss this.” He draped an arm over Lily’s shoulders as she stood beside him. “Nervous, Lils?”
Lily shrugged softly and looked up at him “I guess I’m a little nervous” she said softly. “Now that everyone is starting to arrive”
“You’ll do great,” Sam assured her. “Tonight. And as the Mother. You’ve bossed around enough kids to have it down pat,” he teased, ruffling her hair.
Lily swatted his hand away with a little grumble, checking her curls are still in place. “They keep asking after you ya'know” she said. Lily looked up at sam and frowned “kylee keeps asking when you’ll be visiting. She thinks it’s her fault sam” Lily whispered.
Sam rubbed the back of his neck contritely. “Yeah, I know. I’m gonna try to do better, Lils. It just ain’t easy, y’know?”
“Just don’t let them loose an uncle because of me” she said softly, gripping his forearm.
“I’ll do my best,” Sam mustered a grin, looking down over the yard again. With a deep breath, he stepped back. “We should head downstairs, huh?”
Lily nodded and stepped aside “after you” she smiled.
Inside Cato was talking quietly with Bucky, apologizing for his recent mood while the kids all sat at their table, the whole group except for Annabelle. Maggie was sitting between Cyril and Taylor, teasing Taylor about something. Mina was sitting with Ashton and Rosalyn with her hand on Ashton's thigh talking to Ari and Ava who were sitting across from them. Suriel, Nuriel, and Amber were all standing around the bar with Lucius chatting about official bussiness.
Taking Over
Jack wasn’t entirely sure how it had happened but he was alive…sort of. He stood in the room, watching Crowley, Mina, Mina’s daughter, and Jophiel bleed out on the floor, and Ari on the ground staring numbly at her husband’s dead body. Jack knew he needed to find a body…but he couldn’t help but enjoy seeing Ari like that. He tore himself away from the happy scene and went to the oldest demon that he could find that he could easily possess. He appeared in the room with Marcus, not taking any physical form. But he was there and he knew that Marcus could feel him and hear him. “Marcus, right?”
Since eves demise Marcus had felt oddly lost. He had spent most of his life messing with her plans, screwing with her kin. A little to similar to that Persian soilder that followed her about. But now she was dead. And Marcus had nothing to occupy himself with except visit different bars and occasionally visit the rack for stress relief. He had just taken a sip from his fourth whiskey sour when he felt a chill run down his spine. An odd sensation considering he was physically incapable of getting cold. But then came the voice. A voice he had hadn’t for over 40 years. Must have been a mistake, someone else sounding similar. That or he was finally loosing it.
“Don’t ignore me, Marcus.” Jack growled into his ear, clearly furious.
Marcus jerked sideways, nearly spilling his drink. He set his glass aside and quickly headed into the bathroom, splashing water in his face and slicking his hair back from his face. “How the hell are you here?” He hissed, staring into the mirror.
Jack grinned and Marcus could faintly see him in the mirror. “Some shitheads brought me back…but they fucked it up.” He said.
Marcus squinted a little and tried to make out jacks outline “and you’ve come to me, why?” He said slowly.
“Because my body is rotting somewhere…I need a vessel…temporarily.” He said. “And a cigarette.”
Marcus turned and faced him, shaking his head “you want to posses me? Surely there is someone else you can use?” He said carefully.
“You’re my best option.” Jack said.
Marcus narrowed his eyes at him “sucking up suits you about as much as apologising does” he said flatly, folding his arms. “Don’t treat me like a fool… If you want to possess me then Atleast tell me the truth” he said, raising an eyebrow.
Jack gritted his teeth and glared at Marcus. “I don’t have any other options...and I have revenge to serve..and a body to restore...now let me in.” He snarled.
Fighting Brothers
Cato rested his forehead against her shoulder, not taking too long to catch his breath. He looked up at her, his eyes gentle. “We should head back.” He said.
Back at the village several of the villagers had tackled and tied Mason down. He didn’t fight them much, out of fear of hurting someone. He was starting to get worried that Annabelle and Cato weren’t coming back.
Annabelle nodded sadly. “We should.”
She considered walking into the village with her hand in Cato’s; she wouuld have done, if she hadn’t heard the angry voices of her people raised even from a distance. With a glance at Cato, Annabelle slid her hand free and gathered her skirts, bolting toward the tribe.
Cato followed closely behind her and when he saw his brother he froze, looking around at the villagers.
“What is the meaning of this?” Annabelle roared, storming into the middle of the knot of bodies and shoving away the man standing nearest to Mason. “Unhand him! Now!”
The man glared at her. “This is the second monster you‘ve brought into our tribe in as many weeks, Annabelle. What is wrong with you?”
Cato let out a low growl, storming into the crowd of people. “You can call us monsters, because that is what we were born to be, but birth doesn’t define our actions!” He growled. “I have not only never hurt any humans, but I defended this village with my life!” He yelled. “And my brother here, the brother that taught me that I could be more than a mindless beast, was bringing you all food.” He pointed at the discarded bag of rabbits. “And yet you tie him up to do what, kill him?”
The man blinked at him as if he hadn’t expected any argument. Annabelle laid a hand on her dagger. “Untie him,” she ordered. “The only monsters I see are all of you. I am ashamed of your actions today.”
When they untied him Mason leaned towards the man. “For the record...had I wanted to, I could have fought back. I just didn’t want to hurt anyone.” He said. Cato gritted his teeth and stormed away from the villagers, wanting to be away from all of them.

Caribbean Bar
Mina actually laughed at that and shook her head. “No…but he’s a bit of a loose cannon…and if he finds out abut that he might try to kill me.” She said.
“For kissing me?” He frowned, suddenly feeling for guilty
“Don’t worry I can hold my own against Cato.” Mina said with a smirk.
“I’m more concerned about my own relationship with him at the moment” he said quietly
“You know his humanity is off…” Mina said quietly, frowning.
Adam visibly tensed but tried to give little indication to what he really felt. “I didn’t…no” he replied
“He’s fine, though…I don’t think it’s all the way off…he just seems blank.” She said. “I heard what he did…I think he just needed to escape his feelings for a while.” She said, resting her hand on his arm. Behind them Azrael growned nad wiped his face off on his shirt. “Because he can’t handle the fact that he murdered that poor girl” He grumbled.
Adam turned and rage flashed across his face “Don’t speak as though you know him! You don’t know him!” he snapped. “What happened to Annabelle wasn’t his fault, is hunger isnt his fault it was… “ Adam trailed off, knowing better than to speak so definatly against eve in a public place.
Azrael roled his eyes. “Calm down. I’m not talking badly about him…I’m speaking facts. That’s why he turned it off and ran.” He said. Mina looked between them with a frown.
“Don’t tell me what to do! I know full well why he’s done it!” he snapped again, sitting firmly on his stool and staring at the wooden bar top. “I should have trained him with his humanity” He mumbled to himself
“Unlike you, I’ve actually become Cato’s friend.” Azrael said, glaring at him. “Now stop snapping at me, asshole.”
Adam lunged along the bar, hitting Crowley square in the face, his eyes pure white with rage.
Mina jumped backwards and yelped as Crowley fell to the ground. Before Crowley could even get up Cato walked through the door. He narrowed his eyes at them. “I will kick you all out if you don’t stop fighting in my bar.” He said.
Adam swung around ready to hit again until he realized it was Cato. He dropped his fist and his eyes shifted back “Cato?” he breathed.
Cato grabbed a drink and handed it to Adam. “It’s been a year...not 60. Calm down.” He said with a huff. He tossed Crowley a rag.
