Meeting the Bunhead!

The blue haired man looked at Mei, smiling at the expression that he was giving her. “Would you really think I do somethin like that to ya?” A small laugh escaped his lips, seeming to understand that Mei was only joking around and really meant no harm at all.

“No. I go to this smaller market that is out at sea. I prefer it a lot more than going to a store back in the city. Besides, whenever I go into town I’m swarmed.” He sighed, not wanting the poor girl to get caught up in it. That was the last thing he would want.

And after a good fifteen minutes, they arrived at the dock of a platformed area. And it was at least the size of a small city. Mall, grocery store, smaller shopping places, and even business were on this little utopia. Marlon stood up, still carrying Mei as he got off his Wailord and returned the pokemon to the comfort of the pokeball. Then finally set the bun head back on her two feet.

“Well, were here~” He smiled and chimed, holding his arm out towards the town. “So lets go~” The boy started to walk, but looked over to make sure that Mei was following and would keep up with him.

"I don't know, I'm sure you could get a good price, I'm a hard worker." she reasoned, cracking a grin at the leader.

Swarmed? It was understandable. Marlon was a gym leader, and an attractive one at that, Mei was sure he got plenty of attention from the locals and tourists when he went out. Especially because, as a gym leader, he probably wasn't out on the town very often.

She reached the ground with a small bump to her frame, but it was nice to stand on her own. Mei looked around, drinking in the sites of this market that was so much more. How this stayed so out of the way, Mei wasn't entirely sure.

Mei was still gaping when she looked over at Marlon, realizing he'd started walking away. Hurriedly, she caught up, still star struck. "How did you even find this place?" she asked in awe.

How could Mei be this stupid? Honestly, it was common sense that had somehow passed her by. How on earth did she manage to leave the last town and get right to the halfway point before realizing she had no potions and her pokemon were all fairly worn from training. So hopefully, there was another trainer with some sort of supplies though Mei didn't have any.

After an hour or two of searching and running/hiding from wild pokemon to spare her own, Mei spotted a head of blue hair a little ways off. Breathing out a sigh of relief, she hightailed her way over, finally reaching him a little out of breath, but there nonetheless.

"Hello," she panted out after a moment, "Sorry to bother you, but could you spare a potion or two? I got all the way out here with no form of medicine, and my pokemon are all in pretty shambly condition." she explained, catching her breath.

Mei had talked to Professor Juniper about traveling because she really wanted to go somewhere with a professor who she could talk to about the region she went to and its pokemon. Of course, the woman had decided right away to send her to Kanto and into Pallet Town to meet professor Oak.

In her rush, of course, the poor woman had forgotten to give the man a heads up, which she had hastily told Mei, what? Five minutes ago? As she took her first steps into the new town. It was smaller than any town she'd seem, everyone probably knew each other here, which wouldn't help matters.

Tentatively, Mei gathered courage and a smile and knocked on the Professor's door, hoping for the best. As she waited, she anxiously bounced from foot to foot slightly, jittery in the new environment.

The man looked at Mei, smiling. Darn, she was just trying to act cute. Usually Marlon got this from the fan girls that were out at the ocean, screaming his name wherever he went. But to get this from his friend was new to him. It made him feel odd, though, he didn’t say anything to Mei. She didn’t have to know about it, right?

He looked over when the bun head said that she would accompany him to go out and get food. “W-Would you really Mei?” He asked, a smile going across his lips. She really didn’t have to go and do that. But though..she was going to what whatever he cooked..so she kind did have to come along. At least this way Marlon could buy stuff that she liked.

“Alright! We’ll lets get moving before we get too hungry!” He said, smiling as he took the girl’s side once again. “But, we’ll be leaving a different way. Since where I go to shop is somewhere..where not a lot of people go.”

The blue haired boy led the brunette onto the pier, using his free hand to put his fingers to his mouth and blow a whistle. His Wailord emerged from the depths of the water, waiting. The man smiled at Mei, “I hope you don’t mind that I do this.” He said, swinging her up so that he was carrying her bridal style. And with a quick jump, they landed onto the Wailord.

“

Alright! Now to the market my friend!” He called, sitting down on the wet surface while still holding Mei in his arms. He just didn’t want her butt to get wet or anything. Girls seemed to be nervous about that for some reason or another. The pokemon went under a hidden pier, and through a secret cave.

"Of course!" She smiled at the blue haired trainer, "You're cooking for me anyway, so I can help pick out some things!" She added, shrugging. It seemed simple enough. They could go to the store, pick up things for lunch, come back and make it!

She nodded and was being pulled against Marlon's side, making a sort of 'oof' sound in the suddenness of the action. "Different Way..?" she inquired, thoroughly confused by the vagueness of his statement.

Mei looked around as they reached the pier, curious as to where he would go shopping. "Don't mind-" Before she could ask what, Marlon was scooping her up and bringing her onto his wailord, and she resisted flailing, managing a simple, "Hey! Woah! What are we doing?" She asked, looking around.

He didn't set her down, and the wailord was going through piers and caves she'd never seen before. "Out of curiosity, are you taking me to the black market to sell me? Because this is looking a little suspicious." She peered up, smiling to let Marlon know she was just joking. Sort of.

“Hm? Why are you ever apologizing? Don’t worry about it!” He laughed and said, pulling her closer as they rounded a corner, which was close to the water. “I’m just glad I saved you before you decided to go for a after noon swim in your clothes. I mean, unless that was your plan anyway.”

The blue haired boy brought her into the kitchen. It was rather small. It’s not like Marlon was a master cook like the boys in Striaton City. Boy, could the trio could a good meal!

”So what would you like? I mostly have fish. And some fruits..” He said, opening his fridge to find that there was absolutely nothing in there. There was a awkward moment, then he closed the fridge to look over at Mei. “Haha…Looks like I forgot to buy food again.”

A small smile crossed Mei's lips as Marlon pulled her in closer, he was warm and the edges had become a new terror what with her apparent inability to control her feet today. "Well, I mean I technically have a swimsuit on under it..." she trailed off going bright red as she realized the way it sounded. "I-I'm sorry! I actually am it's just..." well she certainly wasn't making anything better so she just decided to keep quiet until they reached the kitchen.

She peered up as she felt the warmth leave her side, Marlon was going over to the fridge. A bit awkwardly, Mei stayed back some, not wanting to invade on his personal space or anything.

"You forgot to buy food?" her cheeks had returned to their usual color, and a playful smiled adorned her lips as an eyebrow quirked upwards. It was just... how does one forget to buy food? "I can accompany you to the store if you want. We can pick out stuff for lunch!" she suggested happily.

Marlon smiled, looking over his shoulder to see Mei’s open mouth. “Haha~ So I’m guessing my gym is mind blowing, huh?” He asked, laughing at her as he went over, carefully closing her mouth. “If you keep it open, you’ll damage your jaw.”

He saw the girl falling, his eyes went wide. “Mei!” He quickly ran, reaching his arms out to catch her. His tanned hands grabbed hers, catching her as Marlon swung on the very edge. She could just barely touch the water with her toes. It was also a good thing that Marlon could balance himself very well. This was from all the times that Roxie would try to throw him into the water while she swung her bass around like a mad man.

“Phew..! That was close!” He said, letting a small laugh escape his lips as his Jellicent came out from under the water, having Mei’s feet touch the top of its head. The man helped the bun head back up onto one of the many piers, making sure she didn’t get wet. He gently ruffled her hair, smiling. “I tell ya not to fall, and you fall? Silly!”

Marlon laughed, turning around as he helped moved Mei away. He kept a arm around her, making sure that she wouldn’t fall in again. That was just way too close!

Mei's arms jerked in their sockets as Marlon's warm hands grabbed hers. Her toes dipped slightly into warm water below her as she breathed out a sigh of relief. After a moment his jellicent came up beneath her and she squealed again, still a little jumpy from the adrenaline that had just been pumped into her system.

She gladly accepted his help, feeling more at ease with her feet firmly planted on solid ground. Of course, then a huge blush blossomed across most of her face. Well, that was embarrassing, you know, falling as Marlon said it.

She laughed sheepishly, stumbling slightly as Marlon moved her away from the edge, "Sorry about that..." she apologized, allowing him to hold her to his side, the blush deepening even further. "It looks really cool though!"

The boy let out a small laugh. Taking over the world? Now, that was kinda cute. Marlon hadn’t heard that joke in a long while.

“Well. I extended out the gym’s interior. It’s a whole lot different Trust me! Just wait till your eyes gaze at my beautiful gym! Your be starstruck!” Marlon said, grinning widely and highly praising the work that was done on his new gym. If anything, he wanted to hint at all of the beautiful work that was going on under his gym.

“Well, c’mon! I’m sure I can make something delicious!” Marlon said, smiling brightly as he walked in his gym, looking around. “Oh, and don’t fall in, okay?” He teased, laughing softly.

"Extended the interior? That sounds complicated." Mei laughed nervously. How was it that all gym leaders were so innovative with their gyms? She supposed it had something to do with being cooped up there, but wouldn't that block the creative flow rather than stem it?

Either way, as they stepped in, Mei's eyes widened, it really was something special.

She grinned, "I'm sure you can!" she agreed happily. As he was saying something about not falling in, well, Mei stumbled and plummeted towards the water, not gracefully in any way, shape, or form. Her hands went out and she sqealed in a high pitched rather loud manner.

Hue smirked as Pansear disappeared beneath the Earth.

“Didn’t think you would fall for that one, Mei. I’ve got say, I’m disappointed!”

“Bouffalant, earthquake!”

Rearing his head, the buffalo Pokemon stomped fiercely into the ground. The onlookers were quick to scramble for cover as the fountain nearby shook and sprayed chilled water in every which direction. As if earthquake wasn’t powerful enough, Pansear was going to need a miracle to make it out of this one..

And then it hit her an instant before the words left Hue's lips and she cursed softly, eyes widening in horror.

How could Mei not think about that? She froze for a moment as the ground shook beneath her feet. Pansear managed to scramble out of the ground, but not without some serious injuries. And to ad salt to the wounds, the pokemon was getting hit with icy water from the fountain.

He stumbled a little, and after trying to draw himself up, fainted. She rushed over, calling him back into the pokeball, apologizing to the little pokemon.

The blue haired gym leader looked at the brunette, smiling. “Well… as long as your okay, then I won’t worry!” He put his hands on his hips, his smile only getting bigger on his face. If there was one thing that the man would never forget, it would be people that had battled him before. He made sure to keep track of peoples names and faces. In case they ran into each other once again.

Marlon went to go turn on his heel, looking over his shoulder at Mei. “Well..you would be surprised of what you don’t know about me. You really should stop by more often!” He said with a bright smile, leading the girl to where his gym was.

“Alright! Were here!” He said with a bright smile, lifting a arm to his gym. He went forward, opening the door for her. “You’ll have to let me know what you want to eat. I cant read minds after all.”

Mei laughed, Marlon was just a goodnatured guy, carefree. It was nice. She grinned, following a few steps behind the blue haired man to his gym. "Maybe I should, but that conflicts with my whole plan to take over the world. Don't tell anyone." She joked, feigning being secretive.

"Done anything new with the gym?" She asked as she spotted it in front of her. It didn't look any different from the outside, but one thing Mei knew about gym leaders was that when you were cooped inside the same building most of the time, you have to bring about your own change of scenery.

"I'm not picky! You can surprise me, I am putting serious faith in you here." She told him, smiling. "Trust me, whatever you make is probably better than what I scavenge while traveling." Mei assured Marlon.

Marlon looked again at the girl that he had accidentally ran into. She looked familiar..what was her name. The gym leader took another look at the bun in her hair, a smile going across his face. “M-Mei..!”

How long had it been since the pair had seen each other? At least a few months, to say the least. The two took their separate ways, though, he wondered how Mei was doing on her journey. Did she get farther?

“I’m sorry again.” He apologized, hoping she wouldn’t be mad at him for some stupid thing that he did. “If you want, I can take you out for some lunch! Homemade by me!” The tanned skinned male said to Mei, smiling wide. God, he hoped that she would say yes!

Mei's blush deepened at the gym leader's courtesy. She was genuinely surprised that he recognized her, honestly she was just another challenger who had barely scraped a win practically only based on the fact that her serperior was a grass type.

"D-don't worry about it!" She stammered, smiling at him. Honestly, she'd probably run into him, but she didn't want to go through that whole process in her brain. She really hadn't gotten much farther since his gym... it was sort of embarrassing but there was nothing she could do about that.

But what she could do is accept the offer for free food. "I'd love to!" Mei replied, grinning. Marlon was pretty carefree and happy, the vibe was rubbing off on her, and she was sure his cooking would be superb. "I didn't know you cooked! I thought that was just the Striaton gym!" she teased lightly, brushing the last of the sand from her shorts.

It was a warm, fall day. People were out in Humilau City, enjoying the changing colors of fall. Couples were out and about, and the leaves were everywhere. Giving people a beautiful sight to watch.

Marlon was on his Wailord, letting himself cruise as he watched the trees. He loved the season, but dreaded it as well. Soon the water would be getting colder, and his pokemon didn’t like the really cold weather so much. But they would still have the gym open.

He arrived on the shoreline, getting off and calling his Wailord back into its pokeball. “Good job~” He said to himself, turning to accidently hit a young girl that was standing behind him. He could hear her fall, most likely landing on her butt.

“Oh! Oh god! I’m sorry!” He said as he turned around, holding his hand out for the girl to take. Damn! He knew better than to knock down a lady!

Fall had such nice weather, it was cool, but not cold, there was always a nice breeze, and the orange leaves looked beautiful on the beach. Mei was surprised at the amount of people that were crowding along the beach, but they were probably just enjoying the last of the nice weather before Unova would take a turn for the bitter cold of winter.

If you looked out to the beach, there were people splashing in the waves, a lot of them accompanied by some sort of water pokemon. When she squinted, though, Mei almost stumbled over her own feet, spotting Marlon amongst the blue of the water. Well, she certainly wasn't expecting to see him, and she went all shy and awkward around gym leaders. At lest, she probably would have to talk to him, right?

So, Mei kept walking, and when she walked along the shore, she never failed to space out, which, of course, is probably why she ran directly into someone, or they ran into her? Either way, Mei had plummeted to the ground, landing right on her butt.

Her eyes widened in surprise, she'd run into Marlon. Good job, Mei, she thought to herself. "Thank you!" She mumbled, blushing slightly from embarrassment, gingerly taking his hand to help pull herself upright again, brushing some of the sand off in the process.
