I was in an abusive relationship for 6 years. I was in denial. I loved the idea of being married and just couldn’t picture myself being alone. I allowed this man to treat me like trash. I was constantly beat for absolutely nothing! I never told anyone because the signs were there but I ignored them. I made several reports and finally was granted the restraining order. I feel like domestic violence is not taken seriously but I blamed myself for being silent for so long. Last year I was beat and thrown down the steps of “our”house. My foot was broken and I had to have 2 plates and 1 screw to repair it. My labrum was torn in my hip and today I just found out I have to have a second surgery because my hips are tilted.

I’m a mail carrier and I’ve been out of work for almost a year because of this and will be out even longer because of the second surgery. I took out a loan on my 401k to get a car because he refused to let me keep the one he got me. I finally got an apartment. Yay! I’ve took 2 other loans and maxed out my credit card and I’m still 3k short to cover insurance, phone, car payment, rent, and electric bill. I just need it to hold me over until June 20th because the post office offers a program that helps in times of emergencies but because of the overwhelming number of people needing help, I had to get on the waiting list and my payment is expected by then. Anything helps to get me back on my feet!

I was scared of starting over but now I’m at peace. I feel like a brand new woman.

Hiya!! I’m going on a school trip next week and need some cash for food and activities(museums etc), last week my dog almost died from ovarian cancer and I had to pay a lot of it out of my own pocket and scratching up money from savings w my mom in order to pay for her surgery.
