Hi everyone! welcome to my blog post. I am Darl Nicaise Bonode from University of Santo Tomas NSTP L-ARC 1. This is Kagawad Marylou Beltran from barangay 397 zone 4 district IV, she enlightened us with all of the precautionary measures that they practice within their barangay. Mostly the calamities their barangay encounters was flooding, their barangay is located close to Espanya which is known for flooding easily and the people who are vulnerabe to this are the people in low areas as water can easily get inside. Other than that, they dont mostly experience hazards from earthquakes or even fire. They know and keep track of news about the current state of weathers from PAGASA and other information so that they could prepare also the people. If ever cases like this strike their barangay, they have an alloted budget for relief goods to give to the community if they need help. They are prepared enough in terms of budget in case a hazardous calamity encounters in their barangay. Their barangay’s evacuation center is at the nearest school, even though it is not too spaceous, it can be a safe place from high rise buildings that have a tendency of falling in case of a high magnitude earthquake. We have learned a lot of things about their barangay and we are thankful for Ms. Marylou to accomodate and share her knowledge to us.
i have learned that barangays can be vulnerable, we cannot hinder calamities from coming but we can be prepared instead. it is visible on how the barangay talks openly about their concern for the people if ever there would be cases like hazardous calamities to happen. It shows how hands-on and how they engage themselves together with the community and is very vocal on their precautionary measures that they share together with other people. I also have seen the dedication of the leaders of the barangay to protect and look after their people. despite their vulnerability, they do their best to serve others well and be of purpose to them. what i’m personally amazed was how they have areas for proper waste segregation and how neat and tidy it looks. It shows how they really care for the environment and what is good about this are the people practices this act as well which makes it effective.
