love of my life
I love you so much
this weekend is going to be just like this
THIS WEEKEND!
THIS WILL MAKE A GREAT WEEKEND ALL WELCOME!
What: The Robert Hunter Cup
When: Sunday 21 October 2012
Where: Glenferrie Oval, Hawthorn
Robert Hunter was a much loved musician from Perth, who died last October after a long battle with cancer. His positive attitude to life and his illness was an inspiration to many. Apart from music, Robert’s great love was AFL football and, his favourite team, the Fremantle Dockers.
Shortly after the passing, a wake was organized in a park next to Melbourne’s MCG to remember our good friend. It was a great day with a BBQ, a quiet drink and an impromptu game of ‘kick to kick.’ It was at this moment the idea of The Robert Hunter Cup was born.
An organizing committee was assembled immediately after the wake and since then we have all been working hard behind the scenes to put all aspects of the game together. The committee consists of radio announcers, event managers and production company Full Clip. We have all strived to make sure that the game will be fun, respectful and a memorable occasion. And we are honored to have the blessing of Hunter’s family and friends to join us.
On Sunday October 21st we will hold The Robert Hunter Cup – a fun and family friendly game of footy in Robert’s memory. Musicians and friends of Robert from all over Australia will travel to Melbourne and play in the game.
Spectators will be welcome to attend. We expect a crowd of somewhere between 500 and 1000.
We will serve simple food and non-alcoholic drinks at the ground for spectators. “Port-a-loos” will be provided for their convenience.
Entry will be free, but we intend to raise funds for two charities on the day: Legacy and the Make A Wish Foundation.
