Having ancestors who experienced food shortages changes our metabolism & the way our body stores fat. Most of us have ancestors who experienced malnourishment (e.g. great depression era, heroin chic), meaning our bodies are genetically coded to fight for survival by clinging to stored calories.
In the developed world, the average human body is larger & heavier today than it was a few generations ago, because many of us are among the first members of our family to grow up with more than adequate nutrition. (For one thing, in the U.S. we’re not being raised on the traditional starch & pork of the mid-century.) It’s not a bad thing. As our bodies adapt, we as a society need to adapt our ideas of what ‘health’ looks like.
We don’t have to mark something NSFW if everyone is working from home.
