Here's a link and a bit more from Reddit:
I'm concerned about one of the candidates running for the Organization for Transformative Works board (for those unaware, OTW owns AO3) and wanted to bring some attention to it. This is what I'm finding concerning. Tiffany G appears to be pro censorship (or at least in favor of stricter regulations) when it comes to content posted on AO3. She seems to double back and say she's in favor of a better rating/tagging system (even though AO3's current system is very detailed already) but she brings up working with the legal team and updating the ToS multiple times.
If you donated to AO3 this year before June 30th then you are eligible to vote. If you are unsure if you are eligible you can find out how to check here. Voting begins tomorrow August 12 and ends August 15. If you are able to vote I highly recommend reading through the Canidates' responses and casting your vote.
Reminder that AO3 was built upon anti-censorship. I do not wish to see the changes that Tifffany G might bring to the table if she were to be elected. I don't want to see a repeat of what happened with other websites.

I really don't want the purity police to screw up this site. More tags, okay. Deciding what cannot be posted - nope, bug off.
I just checked out the chat and....yeah no. Tiffany is the purity police for sure. How did she get nominated to be elected, or even employed at AO3 in the first place if she’s pro-censorship? That’s the antithesis of AO3. Her responses are full of “the public” perception and outsider’s opinions and “legal issues that need to be addressed” (doesn’t name one) and vague “changes” that need to be made to TOS and what can be posted.
I’m most concerned about her statement “people think we host child porn content and such things. This issue is actually closely related to the incident when our service is banned in my home country.”
This person clearly has an agenda they’re itching to inflict on us all.
Her interview responses for anyone who doesn’t want to click on the link above:

Our first question today is: Can you say something nice about each of your fellow candidates?
Tiffany G
Everyone has worked longer here at OTW compared to me. So the time and effort you have put in really helped and inspired me. it would not be possible without all of you.
Sveritas
Thank you both for your kind words. Next up we have questions directed at our candidates individually.
[]
For Tiffany G.: If elected as a board member, what do you most look forward to being able to do that you haven’t been able to do in other positions at the OTW? What do you anticipate will be the biggest challenge?
Tiffany G
I am very interested in the work of PAC and Legal since the very beginning. I have not had a chance to experience it so look forward to learning more about them. I believe a lot of external people have issues with our ToS and policies so working with those will be the biggest challenge. I have had discussions with respective volunteers and it seems like we have limited resources and legal issues that need to be addressed, and delivered to the public.
`skipped some stuff`
Sveritas
Thank you both for sharing about your struggles within the org. Next we have questions for candidates specifically again!
[]
For Tiffany G: You’ve mentioned in the Q&As and in these chats that you’d be interested in changes to the TOS and our policies — can you expand more on what changes you think might be interesting?

I think making the documentation more visible would help, and potentially reaching out to qualified volunteers directly. There’s a pretty thorough position description for the Diversity Consultant Research Officer on our internal tools, but if you don’t know where to find it, it’s not going to help you decide if that’s a position you can fill. So I think just talking about it more would also help people realize that hey, maybe that’s something they could do.
Tiffany G
Well, I think a lot of external people are very concerned about the fact that some works contain child pornography, pedophilic content, and other illegal content. If possible (this is not entirely possible after I chatted with people from PAC though), I am interested in providing extra help to the PAC team and Legal team to update the ToS and policies on those.
Sveritas
Thank you both! We have questions specific to our candidates again here:
[]
And a follow up for Tiffany G.: If you were to work with Legal and PAC to update the Archive’s ToS on content like pedophilia, would you want to disallow those types of works, or are you referring to another type of change or clarification?
Tiffany G
OK this is a follow-up to the last question – people think we host child porn content and such things. This issue is actually closely related to the incident when our service is banned in my home country. It might also be helpful to clarify that to the public. I am not an expert but look forward to discussing it more with respective committees.
Sveritas
Thank you both! Just to clarify Tiffany, the Archive of Our Own does not host any works that contain materials that are illegal in the United States, such as child pornography. Which leads us to the next two follow-up questions for Tiffany G. : a) You mention wanting to update the TOS to address concerns about content posted to the site. How does that fit into AO3 general principle of “maximum inclusiveness of content”? Which content and why?
b) you proposing that the Terms of Service be updated to restrict additional content that is currently allowed on the Archive
Tiffany G
a) I support 100% “maximum inclusiveness of content”, yet there is always a boundary to everything. Since OTW is already an influential org, we need to protect our image and hold a better image to the public. I want the public to think of us as an inclusive and socially responsible community. So in general, we have to do something to change. Things like making the rating system more specific and obvious to users will be what I want to do.
b) Not really restricting the content being posted. I hope it is like more warnings and ratings for posting work so people know what to expect. And all of these are not surprising to people who do not wish to see this.
Sveritas
Thank you for your answers! We do have two more related follow ups for Tiffany G. on the topic of content on AO3:
a) please does your definition of content that should be disallowed include all written content depicting sexual content of minors?
b) please clarify how you propose we treat the content we currently have in the archive that should be banned with those proposed TOS changes
Tiffany G
a) That is not what I proposed actually. I would want to be more specific in the rating system and clarifications so people know what to expect.
b) If there are changes, it is going to be some slower work I suspect. Will work with PAC to figure out if changes are necessary.
Decided to draw more Obi-Wan.
It must be said that the Kenobi show literally just solidified the fact that clearly my attraction to older men has never been a phase and will continue indefinitely

OBI-WAN KENOBI – PART VI
this KILLED ME. SOBBING. REAL TEARS.
I don’t know who’s responsible for it, I just have to say thank you re: Obi-Wan Kenobi (the show). Padme has always been one of my favorite characters in Star Wars, and she was portrayed by such a talented actress in Natalie Portman. It’s such a shame she was written the way she was in the prequels (thanks George…) and has some hatred within the fandom, BUT- in this show, all the subtle hints at her and her importance, how Obi-Wan sees her in Leia, how she shows up in his nightmares because he loved her and she was important to him too….IM A MESS. I AM I AM
I wish all closeted LGBTQ+ people a very happy pride month.

THIS SHOW IS MAKING ME TOO EMOTIONAL. ALL THE PADME REFERENCES
The more despair I endure in life, the more I love Frodo. I'm just. I'm so glad that Tolkien wrote him like that. He was a hero and it broke him. He was given too much to carry. The circumstances were dire, everyone was doing the best they could, and Frodo tried so hard, for such a good cause, and he...broke. And the narrative has pity for him, the characters show him kindness. Even after victory, his hurts did not heal, and it isn't considered his fault. He must go to the undying lands, to seek out peace there. In universe, he is forgiven for being human - don't be pedantic - and his great torment is recognized. He fell. He could not have done it alone. He is still a hero.
And, I think that's important.
Tolkien endured a war that broke its combatants this way... and it was a LONG time before “ordinary people” back at home forgave the combatants for what was widely perceived as a lack of heroism—even cowardice—when the broken came back. He was able to view that scenario with compassion long before most of British society was able to, because he’d been in it with the ones who broke.
...“Fantasy” writer, huh.
Fantasy has always been an exploration of humanity. Sometimes it's a celebration of the things that make us great, sometimes it's horror at what makes us awful, and sometimes it's acknowledgement of the burdens life will force on us.
Frodo carried a thing of great evil to the foot of Mount Doom, and no further. Because there, at the end of his journey, he was hungry and sore and exhausted like never before, and he could go no further. The burden was too much to carry, and frankly no one had ever expected him to make it even that far when people far greater than he had succumbed to it far sooner. But he was not alone- Sam couldn't carry the Ring himself, for it could tempt him, but he could carry Frodo. And so could every other member of the Fellowship, for as long as they could.
Frodo was the hero not because he was powerful, but because he wasn't. He was a simple Hobbit who loved good food and stories and mild mischief, and more than that, he was fundamentally good. Frodo didn't have grand ambitions or powerful desires, he just wanted to enjoy a simple, peaceful life. And in a fair world, heroes are those who want to be heroes and simple folk are those who want to be simple folk.
But we don't live in a fair world, and neither did Frodo. The One Ring could not be carried by someone with even an inkling of ambition because it takes that and it twists it until you believe that you cannot achieve your amibitions without it. And even Frodo, who wanted nothing more than what he already had back at home, succumbed to its madness and evil eventually.
He is a Hero not because he was a great man, or because he was powerful, but because he withstood great horrors and evils that corrupted everyone else. And he did not walk away from that unchanged; for the rest of his life, Frodo was a shell of a man, hollowed out from within by the One Ring's influence.
Because sometimes, the smallest of kindnesses, the smallest of people, can make all the difference simply by giving everything they have.

love in the prequel recap they don’t gloss over the fact that anakin turned to the dark side primarily to save padmé……we are getting vader mourning padmé content i can feel it in me waters
