Kuno knows exactly how bad his life is, and how much the society around him failed to protect or care for him. He's not stupid or ignorant- he just doesn't give a shit about explaining his life story to you. He doesn't much see the point, not unless you can prove yourself to understand him without him having to explain himself to you.

Kuno literally does not see the point in being "good", because being a better kid didn't fix his problems. So he lashes out, and tries so hard to not give a shit, to pretend that he's okay with his life being like this. But deep down, he knows full well that he deserves better. He also knows that he's never gotten better, and barely has any idea of what better even feels like. How could he?
