Mostly about Karaâs first few years on Earth
Kara learning about photosynthesis in biology (it worked differently on Krypton) and quietly freaking out over whether sheâs actually a plant
Kara coming up with increasingly terrible excuses for not participating in gym when she first arrives: âI have a chill, I mean, a coldâ, âI have cramps?â (Kara doesnât get periods like humans do, so it came out as a question, looking to Alex across the room, who has her head in her hands), âMy glasses are brokenâ âKara theyâre on your faceâ âOh, uhhhâ
Being incredibly bored in math class (she learned this stuff when she was like 7) and making complicated paper airplanes in the back of the class (she canât fly, but they can)
The track coach pressuring her to join the team bc she forgot to hold back one time and maybe jogged 100m in about 8 seconds
Kara doesnât need as much sleep in the summer months, so sheâd often sit up with Eliza while her foster mother read over and graded papers. Theyâd often end up baking in the kitchen together, laughing about the icing sugar in Elizaâs hair or the chocolate frosting all over Karaâs face. Neither of them notice Alex watching them from the top of the stairs, a pained look on her face, before she goes back to her room and shuts the door quietly
Not being able to go shopping much for the first few months because it just triggered sensory overload easily, so Alex and Eliza would choose most of her clothes. Alexâs favourite color was blue, so Kara ends up wearing a lot of it
Kryptonian eyes having more cones than human eyes (this is purely in my head, not in the comics or anything), so Kara can actually see more colors than humans, which makes explaining what she sees and experiences just that much harder. She learns how to better approximate human sight later on
Kara wears a Superman t-shirt for the first few days on Earth, because it felt like the only familiar thing on the planet. But after seeing it on lunch boxes and posters and bumper stickers and keychains, she takes off the shirt and puts it in the back of her closet where it stays for years
Kara growing like a weed during the summer months with more sunlight. Alex pouting when Kara surpasses her in height when sheâs 16
Alex buying Kara a pair of sound-cancelling headphones for Christmas. Kara is skeptical, but her face when she puts them on in shocked. Itâs not silent, she can still hear things, but this is the quietest her world has been for years
Alex randomly taking Kara to an art museum and Kara suddenly freezes in front of a painting. Alex is curious and Kara stammers out that she canât see through it and Alex inspects the painting and realizes that the canvas primer or whatever was lead based. Kara goes to that art museum a lot. Itâs quiet, especially when she brings her headphones, and there are beautiful things that she canât see right through
