Do you still write fic?? You were my fave author back when you wrote Swan Queen :)
I try but honestly have written anything in awhile, it kinda sucks. My muse hates me.
evidence suggests that I am too tired for this shit
I keep forgetting that NT people donāt do math the same way people with ADHD do it until I try to explain my thought process and get weird looks from people who are likeĀ āhow the FUCK did you do that?ā
whoops
and for those of you who DONāT know what Iām talking about Iāll give you an example
42 + 29 = 71
for neurotypical people, they use the method we were all taught in grade school where you add 9 + 2 to get 11 and then move the extra one over to make 4 + 2 + 1 which equals 7 to give you 71
but the way I do it (as many other people with ADHD as Iāve come to find out) is this:
okay so you have 42 + 29. if you take 1 away from 42 and give it to 29 to make it an even 30, you now have 41 + 30 which is an easy 71
or, another problem: 53 + 88
round that 88 up to 90 and take the two from 53 so you have 51 + 90. but wait I can make this easier. take 10 more from 51 to make 90, 100 and now you have 41 + 100 which equals 141
itās justā¦so much faster? and makes so much more sense to me
also? the math teachers that always took off points for kids not showing their work?
fucking HATED that. as someone who could get from point A to point D in my head in a split second, I felt like showing my work was often a waste of time when sometimes it felt like I just automatically knew the answer
or, if I didĀ put down my work, I went through a process that wasnāt taught and would get points reduced anyway because it wasnāt the way we were taught just because my brain worked differently than the rest of the class. my answer was always right. they just didnāt like how I got it
never did like that muchĀ
also, this is another way of doing it that I just saw on facebook that Iāve also done before
because I do things to that extent too
so if you give me something like 37 + 45 Iāll goĀ āwell 30 + 40 is 70 and 7 + 5 is 12 so 70 + 12 is 82ā³
thereās justā¦so many ways to do math that make more sense than the way I was taught
this post got a lot more popular than I was expecting wow
Iāve seen some people reblogging this saying they donāt have adhd but have autism and yes! People with autism do this too! Iāve learned that a lot of people with adhd and/or autism do things that overlap and this is one of them!
iām sorry but these are the only valid tags on this post
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT IVE DONE THIS MY WHOLE LIFE HOLY SHIT. Im an AP Calculus student and i was trying to explain to the other kids that i have trouble with mental addition and subtraction and i have to do it that way and they all look at my like im stupid but it was ADHD the whole time???? Oh word??????
IVE DONE THIS FOR SO LONG HSHSGH IM GLAD IM NOT JJST WEIRD
I just assumed thatās how everyone did it⦠š
I came because I wished to see you again, Alex. To say goodbye. You have brought me much joy in my time on your Earth, Alex. You and your friends showed me strange and wonderful things.
Do you ever regret something to near unbearable proportions?
A few weeks ago a 15-year-old called meĀ āGrandmaā for being able to remember when the first Twilight film came out, and I still havenāt mentally or emotionally processed this
tag the age u were when twilight came out (2008) i was ten

Pro Tips Beehives
Pro tip #1: making nectar sucks.
Pro tip #2: nectar is important.
Pro tip #3: in a 1:1 mixture of sugar and water the sugar will never fully dissolve, stop trying to make it.
Pro tip #4: nectar is needed so keep making a 1:1 mixture of sugar and water and shut up about it.
Thatās it, thatās my pro tips.
My mood currently.
Guys!
I know all of you have so much more going on than to worry about anything I have going on but if you could please just take one second and give a small prayer/thought to my little sister I would greatly appreciate it. Sheās 8 and has Cerebral Palsy and this morning between 6:15 and about 30 minutes ago sheād had a total of 9 seizures. My stepmom has her at the ER but good vibes always help.
Lesbians are so good at pointing out romantic chemistry between women on TV but in real life it takes 3 years of friendship and an entire peer reviewed scientific paper to convince us that a girl might like us back.
I asked my friendĀ whether she has a constant inner dialougue going on, and she said no.
And Iām like?????? How can you not??
Are peoples heads silent most of the time????
Are they not constantly singing and talking and wondering and imagining bullshit in their heads 24/7
So then I asked around, to some other people and they all agreed!!!Ā
No nonstop inner talking!!Ā
They said for them, it was more pictures or not fully formed sentences then full speech.
So now Iām just trying to figure out if this is an adhd thing????Ā Because no one is an individual in their actions due to probability and stuff so I canāt be the only one.
Iāve tried researching it, and in psychology its calledĀ āinner speechā!!
Theres a lot of text and Iām getting bored of reading about this,,..,.,
So instead I wanted to ask, what any of your experiences with inner speech are?Ā
Because Iām curious about other peoples first hand experiences with it!
I have 2 songs, movie dialogue, a story Iām writing, and at least one conversation on the go at all times. Itās no wonder people with adhd are prone to substance abuse. I can see how appealing it would be to use something that would just make it all quiet
ā¦ā¦ā¦.. I didnāt know silence was an option lmao.
My brain never shuts up, constantly either bombarding me with Drawing ideas, story ideas,or songs/movies
I wish it would at least shut up when I try to sleep
Bitch my brain as obnoxious as a YA MC opening chapter inner monologue
My brain is like having 20 tabs open in your browser and all of them are mp3s or youtube videos.Ā
My inner voice is literally samuel l jackson narrating everything that happens to me and also three green day songs and mr brightside are playing at all times
Wait this is an adhd thing? Normal people donāt do that?
what??? you guys dont make stories??? think out alternate universes?? talk to yourselves????
your head,,,is silent??? all the time??????
Honestly this is why Yoga and meditation never worked for me.
āNow turn off your mind.ā
Me: The Fuck you say???
Yo @missslothy @narkito @ariestaurus21 @bgharison @thekristen999 @lavvyan everyone
are your minds quiet ā I donāt mean 100% of the time 80% of the time? Youāre not doing music, dialogue, stories, imagining, figuring out what to say to person A+B, thatĀ event which went horribly wrong ten years agoā¦?
When Iām at home, I play video games or read or watch stuff on Netflix. When I do some cleaning or cooking or even just take a bathroom break, the mp3-player provides podfic or an audiobook. Music in my car, the news on my phone during breaks at work, a different mp3-player, dedicated to music, when I go for a walk.
I canāt deal with the racket my brain makes without distractions, so I avoid having to do that at all costs.
In 7th grade, my teacher told me my math had to be off because no one could listen to that much music per day.Ā My mom had to send a note that said yes, I do basically have the radio on every single waking moment when Iām not in school.
The other day, i found out that my mom doesnāt have a constant running dialogue in her head and Iām honestly kind of baffled.
But yeah, itās also why meditation and yoga donāt work for me very well.Ā I have found that for meditation, a podcast or calm video while I cross-stitch works wonders.Ā For yoga, since I do it for bendiness and not calming reasons, it doesnāt really matter.
I legit thought that was normalā¦
@ekdeans
Oh crap! This makes so much sense now. Iāve never been diagnosed adhd but know I have tendencies, and this is apparently one of them. It also explains why I sleep way better with noise.
Do you ever miss someone so badly you donāt know what to do? You know how easy it would be to send them a message. How easy it would be to fall into the illusion that you could be friends. But you also know how much it would hurt.
Today the lady behind me in line at the grocery store checkout politely tapped my shoulder and when I turned around she motioned toward my giant bundles of kale and asked: āwhat do you do with your kale? Do you cook with it, or make juice, orā¦?ā And i admitted there in front of god and the world āoh I feed it to my peacocks.ā And she just looked so taken aback that I said āIām sorry thatās not the answer you were hoping forā
And thatās how I learned other people donāt really know what to do with kale either. Weāre all pretty sure itās edible, though.
People are sending me kale recipes like they honestly believe I will try to eat bird food
I have had this happen to me before, except my answer was rabbits, my rabbits love kale, itās their favorite
@writebethany we have it recorded from back before Christmas
