The Myth that men can’t have feminine qualities, these being that men can’t express their emotions and feelings like women can and if they do they are seen as weak or gay.

Act like a man. Be a man. Suck it up.
This is the myth of masculinity.
These are all things us men grow up hearing and we are lead to believe we shouldn’t express our emotions and feelings because society doesn’t see it as acceptable. If women fought to have the same rights as men the rights that defy masculinity, why can’t men have the right to have the feminine qualities? The feminine quality of emotion. Men cry too.

Dictionary’s definition of Masculinity is that men should be handsome, muscled and driven, and that is masculinity. This is what we are constantly presented with in magazines and the media.
When I asked someone what they thought was the definition of masculinity he answered: ‘Everything I’m not’
my TED talk is public again and the new link is in my bio. Also, here’s a Saturday morning portrait in my new apt. (at New York, New York)
