❛   you   have   a   little   sister   ??   ❜ 

at   that   ,   cassius   perks   up   a   bit.   he   remembers   his   own   sisters   fondly   ,   victoria   &   dorothea   &   their   endless   energy   ,   celeste   &   her   infinite   kindness   .   he   wonders   what   angelo   might   think   of   them   ,   what   they   might've   thought   of   him.   celeste   would've   certainly   liked   him   ,   she   got   along   with   just   about   everyone   ,   it   seemed.

❛   i   had   three.   but   …   your   mother   sounds   like   mine.   she   always   took   better   care   of   us   than   my   father   did   ,   but   he   was   a   bastard   so   the   bar   wasn't   very   high.   ❜

something   about   the   way   angelo   hesitates   when   mentioning   his   father   makes   cassius   pause.   he   doesn't   necessarily   want   to   press   the   issue   ,   in   case   angelo's   father   is   anything   like   his   own   was.   but   he's   curious   ,   &   speaks   gently   when   he   does. 

❛   your   father   …   would   you   say   he's   a   good   man   ??   ❜

Gently , the blonde smiled at the question of his younger sister . “ Yes . Clara would adore you , you know ? She simply loves meeting so many new people . No matter who they are , she always wishes to meet them . You would be no different . ”

Angelo’s grin only grew at the mention of having so many siblings . What a large family to have , and it must have been so delightful to experience . He wished his family was so large , but he would cherish the one that he has been given , as he wouldn’t trade them for anything . 

“ I am sorry to hear about your father . . . I wish there was something I could do . You deserve better than to be treated poorly by someone you should look up to .  ”

Now , they were back on the topic of his own father . One that he wasn’t so sure they should share . If Cassius could be open regarding his family , it was only polite that Angelo do the same . . . but what if he did and he scared him off ? Would he leave over such a thing ? 

Slowly , Angelo lowered his hazel eyes from Cassius then looked out ahead of them . 

“ I . .  .I would say that he is a good man , and that he believes what he is doing is right . I would say that he- . . . The he has harmed a few , while thinking that his intentions are pure . . . ”

Angelo’s eyes eventually make their way back to Cassius’ . He cannot hide what he is feeling inside , though he does try . 

“ He . . .hunts vampires .  ”

‘what are your parents like ??’  it’s a loaded question to some, but cassius has never truly been good at interacting with others.  being over a thousand years old tended to do that.  ‘i want to know what your family’s like.’  a pause.  ‘if that’s alright.’

Angelo looked at Cassius , trying to think about how he was going to answer that question . How do you tell your VAMPIRE boyfriend that your dad is . . . Well , obsessed with hunting vampires ? This was certainly a loaded question , but he needed to figure out how to answer it without scaring Cassius away . 

So , the blonde decided to start simple . 

“ W-Well . . . My mother is very nice , sweet even . Such a kind heart . She bakes some of the most amazing pies ! She adores reading and meeting new people , she’s always excited to hear when I have made a new friend or picked up a new book from the library . And my little sister , Clara . She likes to explore , which  Mama does not necessarily like . She likes to climb trees , too . I would like to argue that she is sweeter than I am .”

Angelo smiled at the thought of his little sister , though it did start to fade . He fiddled with the cuffs of his shirt while his hazel eyes looked at his love . “ A-And Papa . . . Papa likes . . . He likes to hunt . He likes Mama’s cooking , and always makes sure to provide for us .”

So , it wasn’t a complete lie . . . but he didn’t go into the full truth . Would Cass { w a n t } the full truth ? 

Gods , he hoped not but he knew that if Cassius gave him the truth than it is only fair that he do the same .
