hello!! i'm still working on developing Frelsi atm, but I can't help myself and am desperate to start writing her as well - so like this post for a starter if you're interested!
Since we know almost nothing about Historia’s daughter in canon, including her actual name, I’ve decided to write a few headcanons about how I see her here. Most of these focus on her as a teenager around 13-15 years old, so her child and adult selves might be a little different!
( As a note, the child’s mother is by default Farmer-kun, to stick to canon, but this is subject to change depending on the thread. )
- One thing Frelsi inherited from her mother is her boldness. She’s brave, and holds to her values strongly - values that are similar to Historia’s in many respects. It’s important to her that people, including her, protect themselves and put themselves first, making sure they value their own happiness and wellbeing - but she also seeks to help others whenever possible, especially those who are suffering, because no-one should have to live a life hating themselves.
- She’s arguably even more caring than her mother is. She’s not quite as selfish, despite her values of valuing one’s self highly, and empathy comes even more naturally to her than it does to Historia. She’s someone who can get quite emotional over others, and who feels their emotions strongly.
- Frelsi is a girl who’s a bit more extroverted and outwardly emotional than her mother. She’s sometimes a little too trusting, though luckily she knows how to defend herself, and she’s significantly more confident than Historia, though this can be just as much a weakness as it is a strength.
- She doesn’t always come across as someone who thinks deeply about things, but Frelsi is actually quite thoughtful and reflective. She’s also someone who doesn’t judge, and is very aware of the effects of the cycle of hatred, and how revenge can hurt everyone involved, thanks to the circumstances behind her birth. Because of this, she always tries to understand everyone, even those she would normally hate.
- Speaking of those circumstances - Frelsi is very conflicted about them. She knows that she was born as part of a plan, and at first that hurt her, but she came to realize that her parents nonetheless loved her and still wanted to have her over time. However, she’s also aware of the role her mother played in the Rumbling.
- When she found out, she became deeply depressed and refused to talk to her mother for days. Hating both herself and Historia, she was incredibly conflicted - hating what her mother had done and yet loving her anyway - after all, she was the same mother who’d shown her so much love and kindness for her whole life. How could she not forgive her?
- But it wasn’t her place to forgive her - after all, she wasn’t the one who’d been hurt. Over time, she came to understand why her mother - and Eren - did what they did, and came to sympathize with their situation - but she still believes that what they did was horrific and wrong. Because of this, she seeks to create a world where nothing like the Rumbling will ever happen again.
- She has a little bit of a complex in terms of helping people - because she sees her existence as part of the reason why the Rumbling succeeded, she feels she needs to make it up to people as much as possible. This conflicts at times with her values of putting herself first, and makes her hesitant and uncertain of what to do in some situations. She’s hidden this from her mother reasonably well.
- Overall, she’s not as good as controlling her emotions as Historia is, nor is she as good at acting. Sometimes she can find herself acting on emotion or being easily provoked, which doesn’t always end well. She’s intelligent, and creative, but sometimes fails to see the flaws in her own ideas. Luckily, she’s good at asking for help when she needs it.
- She has a slight snarky side that she didn’t seem to inherit from either of her parents.
- She gets crushes very easily, though she’s also asexual. She inherited that habit from her father and is pretty embarrassed by it.
- If you were to ask her who she wanted to be like when she grew up, she wouldn’t answer with either of her parent’s names. Instead, the person she looks up to the most is Ymir, the one who her mother once loved, and whose middle name she shares. She grew up hearing stories about her, and treats her as a role model of sorts.
