The Honest Truth
indyflanery:
Indy could tell it was going to be a long and uncomfortable ride. Not only for the injury factor, but for the fact that they were out in the middle of nowhere and health care wasnât exactly fabulous. Heâd been through worse, though. It was more or less all the same to him at this point. He just felt bad he couldnât be much use in helping keep Bridget at ease.Â
He could feel her reaching back to take his hand and it must have been  awkward for her. Even more so when he processed that she did not speak the language as fluently as he did. If he had been conscious enough, he would have attempted to translate for Bridget what the medics were asking him, but as it was, it was taking all his energy just to focus on finding the right words to reply. And to stay awake. He couldnât leave her alone when she couldnât communicate with anyone.
Lapsing out of awareness a bit, he came to again when they were getting to the hospital. It had him give a shiver of anticipation when he knew what this meant. X-rays for his head and shoulder to check them both before the shoulder would be reset. He knew what needed to be done, but he understood the need for procedure, even if he didnât like it. Mumbling to one of his nurses as they waited for the results, he asked if Bridget could be sent back to him so he wasnât left waiting by herself.
Bridget jumped up as the doctor came out and it took all she could do not to just run at him and demand to know what was going on. The man spoke broken English, not as fluent as the foreman, but she could understand what he was saying--Indy had gotten x-rays and was waiting for the results and he requested her going back to wait with him.Â
âYou go back, too, yes?â the doctor asked and the redhead immediately, eagerly nodded and reached over to grab the shirt she had shucked off when she sat down. While it was hot as Hades out at the dig site, she always wore at least a short-sleeved shirt to keep her fair skin from burning in the sun. But at the hospital, she was able to take it off and cool down (slightly, there wasnât much in the way of air conditioning there) in a tank top. But it did nothing to help her nerves as she followed the man back through the double doors Indy had disappeared through and followed him to the room her boyfriend was in.Â
This was not about her so it took everything in her not to start crying as she saw him laying there, weak and injured. She could be strong for him, and she would, so she pushed her own fears back down as she rushed to his side. The adrenaline of the day had worn off and she was trembling a bit, but she was proud that she didnât shed a tear, at least not yet. She couldnât let him see that when he should be focused on getting better and keeping himself calm.Â
âIndy,â she breathed, taking his hand like she had before and pressing a kiss to the back of it. They were both still rather filthy, but she neither noticed nor cared as she reached back to tug a chair closer and sit with him. âAre you comfortable? Can I get you anything? Water, a blanket...?â Her voice was rough as the ball of emotion grew in her throat, the one she refused to cave to.

Itâs good to go with your gut instincts in life. You just should. Even if it doesnât work out, something good will come out of it.
From the Ashes
castironloyalty:
Olly had forgotten in his moment of self-righteousness that there were people who were willing to sink to such a level of desperation and he should have known that, instead, at this moment he got mad. âFine, you want to be trafficked around the country, battered and bruised, homeless, broke and dependent on men who only want your pussy, then go ahead, you follow them and get addicted to Candy and Brownies. You die at 29. By all means, walk in the opposite direction.âÂ
He sighed, he didnât need to do that. âYouâre welcome.â He muttered softly, pulling out another cigarette and lighting up. He took a drag to rid himself of the guilt that flooded him after that.Â
Bridget barely contained her wince at his words; of course she didnât want that. Even if she were really an addict, she knew that she definitely didnât want to be used like that. Frowning, she wrapped her arms around herself, deciding just to let go of the defensiveness and just go with what he was saying. The person she was acting like wasnât who she really was and she didnât want to become that person, even for a story.Â
Sighing gently, she scuffed her feet as she walked, looking down and stepping over spent cigarette butts and broken beer bottles. âAnd Iâm sorry. I donât really want that... I just need a fix. So Iâm sorry.â

Yes, he probably didnât have to charm her into agreeing, especially when she was clearly shy enough about everything. Whatever his backwards plan was, Â it was enough to get her smiling again at least.
He knocked back the rest of his water as well before standing. Replacing his fedora, he offered his arm once she stood and replaced her own hat. âYouâll have plenty of time to explore. Itâs going to be a lengthy trip,â he said casually as they left the lounge and returned to the deck, the hot air hitting them like a wall. âThereâs plenty of room to walk so you wonât have to worry too much about getting cooped up. Hopefully. But that only works until the end of the trip when youâre dying to get off the boat.â
The heat was enough to make her cringe, but she didnât comment on it as she followed him out of the lounge and onto the main deck. The ship was just pulling away from the docks and there was a large crowd of people on the shore waving to their friends and/or family on the ship.
Bridget had nobody to say goodbye to, at least nobody that she wanted to, so she simply smiled at their happiness and followed Indy around the large group. She laughed softly at his words, glancing down at their intertwined arms, and she shook her head. âI donât think Iâll be that tired of it, but itâs nice to know thereâs options to come out here and get some fresh air,â she said. She was never claustrophobic, but she knew that that could change if she were being stuck inside a small room for a long period on end. Then again, he was there with her, so she didnât think she would get too tired. âItâs a beautiful ship,â she commented. âSo many things to do and see.â

Bridget never realized that the sound of a door rattling under the force of her back shaking it could be so erotic. Paired with the feeling of her chest tight against him, his thick length filling her... She was in absolute heaven, her head gently falling back against the door and baring her neck more to him so he would have more access.Â
Thankfully her prayers and pleas were answered and he picked up the pace, thrusting into her harder making her cry out softly and whimper into his ear. Part of her was still holding back the noises, but she would soon get over that, she knew it, she could tell because they were just aching to break free from her throat. She could feel the way her body bounced, her breasts against his chest, their skin sounding together...
âFuck,â she whimpered, âthank you.â Arms and legs tightened just a little as she was brought down harder against him, feeling the marks growing on her neck and absolutely loving it. Bringing her head back up, she took his lips again, clenching once more around him, feeling that dizzying stirring of white hot heat low in her belly, knowing she could come at any time, but held back because she wanted him to get there so they could come at the same time.Â
The Honest Truth
indyflanery:
He was finding it harder and harder to keep his eyes open, especially now that he had someone with him. Though he knew if he passed out, it would probably scare poor Bridget, but he was so exhausted that he welcomed the opportunity to lean against the wall and regather his strength. She could do what she wanted to help them out as long as she didnât go too far away.
Closing his eyes, Indy leaned heavily into the wall and let himself slump to the side as he listened to Bridget work and the crew with the excavator on the other side getting louder and louder. The louder the noise got, the more of an indication it was that the crew was getting through. But it also made him wince and shy away from the noise as well. He was grateful when the noise finally stopped, but then the buzzing of more people and their conversation followed. At this point, he was well and truly exhausted. Â
He groaned, having gone stiff while sitting in one place for a long time. Indy was on his way to passing back out when he was lifted onto a soft surface. It took effort to bite back the scream of pain. They were finally getting out of here. Indy curled in on himself, leaving it to Bridget to relay his condition. He had a feeling she would anyway, if anything to feel useful. That and she could probably tell he was shaking from the pain, shock fully setting in now, only made more prominent once they got out into the fresh air. Distantly, he heard the word hospital and knew that was where they were going, no questions asked. His hand tightened slightly on Bridgetâs the best he could, needing her there anyway, even though it felt like too much to ask.
Bridget didnât like the way that he looked as if he was going to pass out, but they would fix that soon enough. The makeshift ambulance sat just outside the entrance to the ruins so it was only a couple of moments before his stretcher was being lifted inside. The ambulance looked like an old-fashioned one from the States, from around the â50s or â60s. There wouldnât be enough room for Bridget and the medic in the back, so she was forced to sit in the front, but she turned around so she could take his hand.Â
There was no way she was going to just sit there and let him be in pain without trying to help him.Â
She wasnât sure how far away the hospital was and unfortunately neither of the medics spoke English so she couldnât understand what they were saying, but she saw the one working on Indy was doing a good job and the one driving was going quickly without being reckless which told her they were good medics and it put her at ease that until they got to the hospital, he was in good hands.Â
The hospital seemed to be about half an hour away and Bridget murmured to him gently as they rode through the streets. Once they were there and inside, she wasnât allowed back with him so she was forced to wait in the waiting room, covered in dirt and dust, fingers bleeding slightly from nicks from moving debris, along with some spots of blood from patching up Indyâs head. She readjusted her dirty hair, staring down at her fingers as they twisted together, waiting and praying that she heard good news about him soon.Â
Space excites me. My dream is to go to space.

Olly took one last long drag from his cigarette before taking it from his lips and throwing it to the gutter. Then he pushed himself off from against the wall and started walking. âI recommend you stick close, donât want you getting lost or anythinâ.â He said to her before walking towards his apartment.Â
âWell, youâre the same age as me, what dâyou want, a button for dressing your age?â He muttered sarcastically. âBack to my point. Iâll âelp you out where I can. Be a mate and all that. Give you your fix, keep you away from the worst of the area population, etc etc and all you have to do, is stay out of trouble. Donât get comfy with anyone that says they can show you a good time or make you a little money. Theyâll spike your drink and make you a sex slave before you know it.â Olly explained, nonchalantly shoving his hands in his pockets.Â
Bridget rolled her eyes. âYou asked if I was old enough to get cigarettes,â she mumbled before following after him quickly. Part of her didnât want to listen to him, but she truthfully knew that her life rather depended upon his help. She didnât want to admit to him that he was right, but she didnât really belong there, and she didnât really want to die before the story even got started.Â
âIf itâs money and I get a fix, what does it matter how?â she asked, though she would rather eat razor blades than end up as a sex slave. But she needed to seem desperate, and she was, just not for the reason he thought. She needed this to live the rest of her life; a few months spent in the slums pretending to be--or, god forbid, actually becoming--a drug addict was worth it if it would give the rest of her life meaning. âStill...thank you.â It was a bit grumbled out, but he deserved it.
