Blowing Bubbles (Closed w/Bubbles)
“Hella, I want sweaters.” A grin came across her face, as she felt she won. She wouldn’t say so, however, and simply glanced to Cayde. “Cayde, don’t you want a cute sweater too?” Teasing her partner, Bubbles smiled to Sam. “What one did you get? Like, really… I’m thinking maybe a blue or purple sweater, do they have anymore of those left?”
Bubbles wasn’t one for shopping, but hey. Her first Hoenn clothing item would be pretty cool. Teasing Cayde about it was also fun, and she only smiled more when the bird huffed and ruffled his feathers. A sweater did sound nice, though the fighting type wouldn’t consider it. He chirped at Sam, and his trainer nodded. “Oh yeah, you’re skippin’ school, huh? Could you, maybe, show me around a bit?… I mean, unless you don’t know the place, then… Whatever.” She shrugged.
“Oh, definitely a blue one,” Sam commented. She shook her arms to rattle the bags, one of which held a thin blue sweater in it. “Matches my hair, you know? There was one still hanging when I was checking out.” Her smile wasn’t as bright, and she could feel the annoyance rolling off Tyler in waves. She wasn’t surprised when she shouted, but she still flinched.
“Are you two listening to anything I’m saying? You’re not, are you?” A sharp look was sent her sister’s way, and Sam gave her a brief wave. “What’s the point of trying to teach you guys something when you don’t even want to learn.”
Sam threw an arm around the girl’s shoulders and tugged her close to her side. “The point is, we got to meet, uh...” Green eyes flicked to the girl, “our new friend here and we get to show her around. You did say we were too late to head back anyway. Let’s go! There’s that really fun sky ride nearby!”
Heres some vaporeon variants (or breeds) I slapped together for fun. Nothing too special.
The professors are asking about the extra research they’ve assigned and I can’t keep stalling with lame answers for much longer.
She says she has an idea, but I didn’t like the look on her face when she told me..
Blowing Bubbles (Closed w/Bubbles)
"More important that gym badges?!" Oh, NO SHE DIDN’T. "For your information, ma’am, gym badges are the most important thing in my LIFE!… Well, besides Cayde and I, of course." Gently patting her partner and smiling, she looked at Tyler. "I mean, really, the gym challenge really brings us closer together, and teaches me way more important stuff then school ever did, or will." It was true, though. Most of high school gave her things that she hadn’t touched since the final, and even before then.
"You really can’t say that school education is more important then gym badges, you know, especially in this society… I mean, really, who are we valuing more, as a whole, anyways? Whenever a new Champion comes around, that drowns out any scientific researcher. Also, we carry, practically, the whole database of any knowledge that we would ever need, or want, right within the palm of our hands, thanks to advancements like the HoloCaster or the PokeNav."
Cayde put a hand on Bubbles’ side, ending her rant. “Oh, sorry Cayde, heh. Got a bit too into that.” Looking to Sam and finally addressing her, the burnette smiled. “Sweaters? Score, I should get in there soon then.”
Sam could feel her sister’s frown working its way across her face, tightening until it shaped a deep pout that would eventually open in a half-hearted scowl to warn of the on-coming lecture. Usually they were directed at her, with some message about responsibility, adulthood, and homework as of late. Those weren’t the lectures she enjoyed. She did, however, love watching Tyler’s scowl be turned on someone else, whenever those rare moments showed themselves. And while this was about to become one of those rare times, the younger girl was just having fun and wanted some cute sweaters. That made her friend potential, and friends didn’t let friends get lectures from their sisters.
“We are so ready to go,” Sam blurted as soon as Tyler sucked in a breath to begin her own rant on the need to be informed of the science on battling. Sam swung her bags against her knees. “Don’t want to be any later, right?” She lifted her brows.
“We’re already as late as we can get - another five minutes won’t do any more damage than we’ve already done.” Tyler’s eyes never moved from the other girl’s face and Sam bit her lip before pointing at BUbbles.
“Okay, but she wants the sweaters and it’s only a matter of time before someone takes the last one and the that someone won’t be here. Do you want to crush her little heart?” That made Tyler’s eye twitch and Sam considered it a victory. Her attention was off school.
“This isn’t about stupid sweaters, Sam! Battling isn’t just pitting one pokemon against another! There is a reason they fight! There is a reason they have the types they do! It’s a science, not something to be made into fun!”
The vague 'extra research project' isn't making this homework very easy to complete.
Blowing Bubbles (Closed w/Bubbles)
Bubbles scrunched her eyebrows at Tyler. The poor thing was still in school! Boy, did she feel bad for her. “Wow, still in school? Daaang…” The teen put a hand in her pocket, and the other rested on Cayde’s head. Heck, she even leaned on her partner, whom didn’t seem to mind. “I’m just here for the gyms, nothing more… I already have three badges.” A grin came over her face, and Cayde seemed to stand a bit straighter.
When the doors opened, brown eyes met the other’s eyes. “Wait, wha… Oh no, she was just asking for the time, that was all.” Bubbles smiled at Sam and Cayde chirped at her. “Although I feel kinda bad, since you’re in school and all… I quit after high school and my parents moved here from Sinnoh.” Her face lit up with pride. “So, the sale hold anything cool? I was considering getting some more stuff, but… Clothes shopping really ain’t my thing.”
Tyler nodded. Education was important, she thought, pursing her lips as the girl confidently exclaimed that she was into pokemon just 'for the gyms'. That was what most trainers were doing now, weren't they? Did they not care for the reason behind the nature of battling? Why some pokemon had certain specific attacks and how they worked? Those lines of thought were much more interesting than the battle itself.
"Oh no," Sam said, rolling her shoulders in a dramatic sigh. "Tyler's got her teaching face on. She won't be asking for just the time in a second. I suggest you run." A bag began to slip from her arm and she tugged the handle back up towards the crook of her elbow. "But, if you ask me, you should run inside because they have the cutest sweaters on the front rack and I'm pretty sure they won't be there by the end of the day." She winked, and Tyler's tight frown was turned from the younger girl to her sister.
"Are we ready to go or not?" Tyler demanded. "School is important too, you know. Maybe even more important than gym badges." Her eyes flickered to the girl for a pointed look. "High school doesn't teach you anything except the basics for higher education and just the bare scraps of what you need to know to get badges, not how the pokemon work."
Sam shook her head. "You still have about a minute to escape before she starts spewing out facts."
Blowing Bubbles (Closed w/Bubbles)
A nervous laugh came from the burnette, and she noggie’d her partner a bit harder. “Yeah, he likes to chop things when he gets startled… and in his case, it’s pretty damn often.” Scratching the back of her head, the teen looked at Cayde. “But, uh, yeah, a quarter to noon… Again, sorry for Cayde.”
Cayde just stared at the other girl, a neutral look on his face. A small chirp from the bird was his apology. Bubbles seemed satisfied with this, and stopped her noggie on him. “Not to be rude or anythin, but what did ya need the time for?” She asked more out of curiosity then anything, and why not have some small talk while she was at it?
The given explanation left Tyler more off-put than understanding. She'd thought the girl was more than a little strange by the unusual way her pokemon had gotten her attention, but the the reason clear...well, she was more than stranger. She was...weird. Borderline crazy. Sam would have liked her. Tyler shook her head at that. Maybe it was a good thing her sister hadn't come out. Sam might get into a conversation with her deeper than a simple 'what time is is it, thank you, have a pleasant afternoon', and then the two of them would never get back to campus on time. Although, by the hour the girl had given, they weren't going to make it even if they left now.
Tyler found her arms crossed over her chest and tried to lower them, only to have her hands place themselves on her hips, fingers digging into the softness around her waist in her restlessness. She looked down at the girl over her glasses, green eyes darting from the trainer, to her pokemon, and back. "I have a class to get to, but my sister dragged me all the way up her for the 'end of the season sale'." She snorted. "Whatever that means. It's still winter. It's still cold. It's a silly reason to skip school for."
"It's a silly reason to be in school," a voice chipped in with a whoosh of electronic doors sliding open. Sam stepped up to them, several bags on her arms, and flashed a smile at the two. "I'm gone for two minutes and you already bother this poor girl." Sam clicked her tongue and Tyler rolled her eyes. "I'm real sorry. She hasn't gone on about any science stuff, has she?"
The professors called me into a meeting this weekend because of all the classes I've been 'missing' this weekend. They wouldn't even let me explain that I was being dragged around by my sister and that she was the one that required this talking to but they wouldn't have it!
Now, I'm stuck with Sam who keeps giggling at me for taking the fall and this...research activity I have to do to show that I'm still...responsible enough for the curriculum.
As if I don't have enough homework already!
Tyler came back to the room with a grumpy face. I wonder what the professors talked to her about (。・ω・。)?

<”Bum bum ba-dum, bam dum ba-dum, ba ba ba-da, ba-da-da-da-da…”>
Music blasting in her ears, a swagger in her step, and the gym on her mind, this girl was ready to go.
<”Some legends are told, some turn to dust or to gold…">
Her Combuskin was right in step with her, and it seemed like he was also listening to the music. The bird ended up squawking when the other addressed his trainer however, and lunged at her, sqawking at the top of his voice and raising a clawed hand. The Pokemon came down strong, his hand slamming into…
The ground.
Bubbles yanked her earbud out, her voice raised. “CAYDE! What the HELL?”
The Fire type turned to Bubbles, then to the stranger. Apparently the poor thing was startled. The trainer walked over, a sorry look on her face. “I-I’m really sorry, dude, we… We’re in the groove.” Half patting and half noogie-ing her Pokemon, Bubbles pulled out her PokeNav and stared at it. “Uhh… it’s a quarter to noon. Again, I’m sorry about Cayde.”
Tyler didn't notice the ear buds at first and green eyes narrowed behind her glasses when the girl didn't answer her. The regret over skipping classes and worry on what notes she was missing was putting her in a none too pleasant mood. She'd asked politely, hadn't she? Wasn't that enough to elicit some sort of response? Even a quick 'No' or 'I don't have a watch' was preferable to having no answer at all.
"Excuse me? Can you tell me the t-" The pokemon at her side seemed to hear her this time and tried to get his trainer's attention. Tyler found the ear bud when he pulled away and her earlier frustration melted into realization, leaving her shocked when the Combuskin nearly clawed at the girl for her attention. Tyler was found wide eyes and gaping when the girl finally noticed her, sensed shocked from the yell of exasperation.
"I, um...thanks. Sorry for...interrupting the...groove." She really hoped Sam would come out soon. The girl didn't seem as phased, affectionately noogie-ing the fighting type. "Does he...always do that?"
