He hissed as she pulled the blanket from his face, burying his head into his pillow instantly. Maybe he shouldn’t have stayed out so late last night. “Nooooooo,” Tommy whined as if he were a child. “Sleeeep.”

Maybe not. But then, perhaps this would serve as a reminder to not stay out all night when he has meetings the next day. Or not. But Wanda could hope.

"Up. Now.” Though scolding, her tone was still gentle. It was hard for Wanda to ever be truly upset with the boys. She loved them far too much for that.

“Unless, of course, you want me to pick out your clothes like when you were little...”

"Just tell them I agree to everything," he muttered, tugging his blanket over his head. "Just...lemme sleep."

“Oh no, my little one…” Wanda tugged the blanket back down. “You do not want to just let your grandfather choose everything. Trust me. Now up. Your breakfast is here.”

If there was one thing about physical mutations that Magento’s reign couldn’t fix, it was that clothing was never going to be ideal. Clarice just couldn’t walk into any store and expect the floral print crop top to look good on her - she had the body but not the skin. Wearing pink made her look like she was naked. The staff that had already been gathered to help her out had certainly updated her wardrobe for the cheap grey tanks she used to wear as standard, but it was going to be an ongoing thing.

Probably for the rest of her life.

“Oh man. I do not want to see people copying my mutation. I mean, be better for them to take pride in their own, not mine.”

Clarice’s answer made Wanda smile. The girl really did have a good head on her shoulders. And Wanda had no doubt that she would be good for Tommy and the country. She just still wished that the two had been able to find this on their own.

“They will. And you’ll help them. By being proud of who you are, you’ll help them be proud of themselves. I know life in the palace can be a bit...stifling. I do. But the difference you’ll be making for your people, it’s no small thing.”

     Tommy couldn’t help but smile as his mother gave him an appraising glance. He didn’t always show it, but he always had this swell of pride whenever his mother looked at him like that. It meant he was doing something right– whether through actions or appearances.

     He by no means thought he would ever be the ruler the world needed (not that he thought he’d ever live to see the throne in the first place), but maybe he was off to a good start.

     “Let’s go be bored to death then, Crowned Princess of Genosha.” A grin tugged at his lips as he made a dramatic sweeping gesture with his free hand as they left her chambers.

“Why thank you, my good sir...” A laugh escaped Wanda as she allowed her son to lead her from the room. They didn’t get enough moments like that; moments where they were allowed to simply joke around and just enjoy being together as a family.

When the boys were young, she had tried to give them as much normalcy as possible. Allow them to be children. But now that they were growing up, becoming men, those ‘normal’ moments had become fewer and far between.

Tommy was, first and foremost, heir to the throne. And that meant certain things were expected of him.

But she would still fight for those little moments. Those moments that reminded him that to her, he would always be her son first and foremost.

Pietro thought about it for a few seconds and shrugged slightly. “I feel like having anything right now.” He was only realising it but he was pretty hungry too. “How about something like…sushi?”

“Sushi could work.” It was easy, fast, and provided a ton of options. All of which were important when feeding her brother. “Provided you let me get at least one thing that has tempura in it.”

 He saw something unfolding in the depths of Wanda’s eyes, something familiar and warm that urged a smile to spread his lips, and his eyes shone some. Seeing it was enough to let him know, silently, just how close they came as a family – all four of them. Without needing to spend hours of catching up and tossing meaningless words, since they were all the same, complimenting each other with their brothers in the strangest of ways. And it was perfect.

“Okay then, we can always call them and see if they have time,” he said as he pulled out his phone, dialing his twin’s number and waiting for him to pick up. It was a short conversation, as judging from the urgency in Tommy’s voice, he was late for a date – with whom Billy didn’t have time to ask. But it was enough tom make him grin, wish him good luck, and then hung up. “Well, he is busy tonight, so there goes that plan.”

“He’s on a date?” Wanda knew what it meant when a teenage boy was busy. And while she and Tommy hadn’t talked about his love life as much as she and Billy had, she was still rather intrigued. Possibly even more so since Tommy’s love life seemed to be a fleeting thing. Not steady like Billy and Teddy had. “Do you know with who?”

Clarice’s cheeks are bright, deep pink, flushed embarrassment written all over her face. It’s terrible, almost, that a girl who’s so open with her emotions and wears them on her sleeve is marrying into a family that has to control all of them.

“I’m sorry. I… We wanted to get to know each other better. Without the staffers watching over whatever we did and said.”

She kicks her feet together, pushing against the ground in an oddly childlike embarrassment.

“It’s fine. And I do understand the sentiment. Life in the palace can be...tiresome.” And yes, Wanda’s words came from a place of experience. “The fact that you and Tommy want to get to know each other on your own terms...that’s good. And I fully support it. Just, be careful. Both of you. The press is not always kind. And if they found out the sort of places Tommy frequented. Well, I really don’t feel like dealing with the migraine that would bring on.”

“ Oh how could I forget? Though   the park’s not exactly cheep, sestra. ” 

The certainly wouldn’t have been able to afford if they weren’t working for the park, & it was possibly both the weirdest & the most interesting job that they have ever had or will have. He laughed at the comment made by Wanda, eyebrows raising in wishful thinking as he finished off the last of his lunch. 

“ One can only hope. Unfortunately    security was very good. ”

“No. No it is not.” To be honest, the park was probably not that much more expensive than other places. But it was on an island. Which meant day trips really weren’t a thing that could happen. So once you added in the cost of getting down there and staying there...yeah...the dollar signs began adding up.

“Well be less good at your job then.” Though she knew that would never happen. Besides, the last thing they needed was for this place to get shut down. She liked her job. It was a little warm, after growing up in Sokovia. But she liked her job. And she would like to keep it a bit longer.

"What do you want for your birthday?" {-waves shyly-}

The question catches Wanda by surprise, their birthday still weeks away. Since when did Pietro start planning so early? He was normally the person in the mall the night before, literally racing about, trying to find a gift. Or so Wanda imagined. Maybe she was wrong. Maybe he always shopped in advance. She highly doubted it, though.

“Besides twenty-four hours of peace and quiet?” It’s a smart ass-ed remark, but one grounded in a bit of truth. A day free of alien invasions and scheming mutant supremacists sounded perfect to her. Of course, that did kind of mean they couldn’t invite their father to the party…

Gently setting the wine glass she’s been drying on the counter, Wanda tosses the towel beside it and moves towards her brother. “Anything. As long as it’s from you, I know I’m going to love it.”

Pietro feigned hurt for a moment before giving his sister a smile, squeezing her hand with his. “Of course I forgive you.”

“I’m ready,” he smiled. “Just let me go grab my wallet.” Which he did so off the table in the entry. “Okay, now I’m ready. Lead the way, my dear.”

It wasn’t a long walk from their place to the museum and as the weather was surprisingly nice, it made for a rather pleasant time. Cutting through the park, they were surrounded by what Wanda would easily call the essence of the city. People in three piece suits and sneakers, catching a quick lunch or coffee. Children running amock with beleaguered nannies following behind. College students sprawled out on the green, reading. 

It was nice.

But soon the large glass windows came into view as the museum loomed before them. Just seeing it made Wanda’s hold on her brother’s hand tighten just a tiny bit more. She wasn’t quite sure what it was about the museum that made her love it so, but there was no denying that it was quite special to her.

“Still going on. I’m one of the newer lifeguards at the Aquatic Park, so I’m still learning the ropes of my job.“

Which she comes to be grateful for, mostly for where she works at. At least she gets to work where there’s water and her uniform is a swimsuit. The air conditioning in this room is nice though… “And you?”

“Yeah, me too. Trying to stay in the air conditioning as long as possible before resigning myself to a day spent in the blazing sun.” Yeah. Wanda was more than a little envious of that swimsuit right now. The khaki outfit she wore wasn’t so bad...but she found it a little warm. But then, compared to Sokovia, Isla Nublar might as well have been located on the son.

“I’m at the petting zoo. It’s...interesting. The animals are adorable, though.”

Erik reveled in Wanda’s squealing delight and although he had no clue who the character she admired so much was, he felt glad that she made him part of creating the costume.

“You look …fierce”  he praises with a grin and kissed the back of her head.

“Stay like that so I can saw your ‘belt’ “ he instructed sawing the fake belt on Wanda’s shorts that were made slightly longer than the ones on the design but still allowed the girl to show off her legs in true heroine fashion.

“There. I think we’re done” Erik handed her the cape and the little clasp followed by the broomstick Wanda worked into looking like a bo staff.

“I’ll bring the camera. I need a picture of my beautiful hero before we leave”

Oh don’t worry, Erik. Surely after a day of wandering about the Con, you would know more about several comic book heroes than you ever needed or wanted to know.

“Daaaaaaad...” She had obediently stayed still through the sewing of the belt. And even through the working of the cape. But now her costume was done and she wanted to try it out properly -- to run, jump, climb trees...you know, normal superhero things. “Huntress doesn’t have time for pictures; she has a city she needs to keep safe.”

“Please, Wanda, you’re talking to me like I’m some uncultured pig,” Pietro huffed. People didn’t give him enough credit sometimes. “I’ll give it a shot,” he promised. Time went slow enough as it was. A museum would at least get him to out and distracted for a while.

“Sounds interesting,” he said, not a hint of sarcasm in his voice. “Are you ready to go?”

“I’m sorry. You know I would never intentionally hurt your feelings so.” She took his hands in hers, looking up at him. “Forgive me?”

She was fairly certain she would be forgiven and so, in response to his question, she nodded. “Whenever you are.”

Pietro shrugged, mouth currently too full of burger, as he finished it off, in order to verbally reply to his sister’s question. He didn’t get to see as much of the part’s attractions as security. There were too many idiots who thought that everything was safe. Everything was safe so long as they followed the rules & those kinds of people didn’t.  

“ You’d porbably end up doing the paperwork,    & I would help but I’m useless at is. As I’m    sure you know. ”

He grinned, elbow resting on his knees & chin on his hand as he looked at Wanda. 

“ Well there’s lots of things I miss out on seeing,    you know, too busy dealing with idiot customers. ”

“Rich, idiot customers. Don’t forget the rich.” Which, to Wanda, was the biggest problem. Not only were this kids rude, they were entitled -- most of them belonging to parents who had way too much money and not a clue what to do with it.

You know, like their boss. And his kid. Wanda had only seen Mira once or twice, roaming the park with her Dad and taking in everything. Not having talked to her, she couldn’t a hundred percent speak to her personality, but come on...her father brought dinosaurs back to life and made her an entire theme park. There was no way she wasn’t some little diva.

“And hey...maybe one of them will get super wasted and fall in some carnivore’s pen.”

//Ignore the journal this is coming from (and for my followers here, ignore this post), but I’ve been debating making a Penny Dreadful rp char for some time and was wondering if anyone would be interested if I did.

Right now I’m stuck between either adapting Juliet Moreau from The Madman’s Daughter to fit in the show or making a Vanessa/Ethan bb. And after last night I’m REALLY leaning towards the later.
