Probably even more so than a doctor’s office or an airport, the world of broadcasting is dictated by the clock.
Ashton Marra makes her NPR newscast debut. They mispronounced her last name. Somehow, they've managed to handle "Mistich" when I've filed.
Big things coming in 2014.
Todd Snider is one hell of an articulate songwriter (and human being, for that matter). I'll have a write-up in Thursday's Charleston Daily Mail about his upcoming performance on December 1 to celebrate Mountain Stage's 30th anniversary.
In this clip, Snider argues that words really don't matter and, if you listen to what he has to say, I bet you'll find it easy to believe him.
It's just too bad I can't put this in print.
These notes hold the key to completion.
Home is...where your audio files are to complete your big projects by deadline.
I somehow managed to miss this on my way into the office this morning. (Thank God I don't work in commercial news.)
West Virginia Public Broadcasting News Director Beth Vorhees put together this fancy promo for West Virginia Morning, a news and public affairs program that airs statewide at 7:30 each weekday morning. Featured in the promo are the voices of our reporters from all around the state.
Check it out. And then tune into the show. Because let's just face it, a promo is worthless unless you actually listen to what's being promoted.
Got my new @wvpublic coffee mug. Just in time for this marathon production week working on the @mountainstage documentary.
Here's a rough four minute teaser of the soon-to-be-airing radio documentary on the history of Mountain Stage.
While it may premiere before, the special will air Sunday, December 1 at 6 p.m. on West Virginia Public Broadcasting. That's right before Mountain Stage's 30th Anniversary Celebration show (with Todd Snider, Diego Garcia, Mollie O'Brien & Rich Moore, and MORE) will be broadcast live around the state.
That's me on the left, pictured with Jason Isbell.
Yes, I realize Isbell isn't included in this teaser. But, a lot of people like him and I knew it would grab your attention. Also, he's included in the documentary at another point. That basically means you have to tune into the broadcast to hear what he has to say.

And...this follow up photo confirms some involvement from the folks @mountainstage. (Maybe I should have read the entire synopsis first.)
Hey, guys. I think I found a book about the prehistory of @mountainstage. Maybe there's interviews with LG, Francis, and Michael Lipton?
Taking a short break from writing this script to work on some promo. Gonna look slick, I tell you.
Bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs stopped by the West Virginia Public Broadcasting studios in Charleston a few months back while on a book tour to talk about his appearances on Mountain Stage. There's little doubt he feels connected to the show through his Appalachian roots
I can predict the future and tell you what is going to be aired on NPR's top of the hour newscast at 7. Here's a clue.
