Interesting looking new book - Transformational Imagemaking: Handmade Photography Since 1960 by Robert Hirsch

I'm not sure that these photographers are really my sort of thing, but an important movement nevertheless. A bit of a shame that it is so focussed on US photographers, a rather insular approach.

"Kiev's Fatigue" by Eric Bouvet

Amongst lots of good photographs have come out of Kiev over the last few weeks, this is one set that caught my eye in particular.

The scattered used cobblestone "ammunition" in the photograph above has an interesting parallel to Roger Fenton's famous "The Valley of the Shadow of Death" photograph from the Crimean War.

Harold Ross - Still Life with Grapes, 2011

"Fine Art" light painting. Interesting technique, not quite sure what I think about the results. Sometimes it looks beautifully softly lit, sometimes just plain artificial when the technique shows through.

Still, I can't help but admire the craftsmanship.
