"MacBook Pro", 9:00, 2013

I made “MacBook Pro” during my thesis year in art college and it accompanied my other works in my first solo exhibition at Katharine Mulherin’s project space No Foundation in Toronto. The video is very simple and is a 3D study of the MacBook Pro, which I was using as my primary tool of art production. Much in the same way that reflexive art looks at the self, I am using the computer’s software to look at the computer. The work is a study, nothing more.

This video, titled “Three ☺ 50/50 Video”, I made in 2012 while living in Kansas City and is meant to be a kind of riff off Jeff Koons’ “Three Ball 50/50 Tank” (1985). I’m not a Koons fan but I like that piece and earlier that year I wanted to trip over a Jeff Koons piece in NYC.
