Shot from our moving car in Bali. The sharp turns and steep drops of the terrain.. the vast expanse and the wind. Yet the stillness of our breathing.. half breathless at the crazy view, half fixed on the winding and sometimes heart-stopping road thrills -- we could only trust our driver with steady control of the wheel and the maintenance of the car, and keep moving on until we reached our destination. To enjoy that wherever we are and will be, it would still be worth beholding with Him. Moreover, the best intended place we are headed for is still just a glimpse of the great wonder of His beauty and creation. How majestic is Your name is all the earth. How strong Your grace. How powerful Your word. How steady Your hands, that we might steady our heart in You.. Jesus take the wheel..
Some of you might have seen me post this photo before. But I call this my quiet chair. The chair at the reservoir which I love to go to for some quiet time, reading or writing. (Second to the kitchen chair!) It's the chair at which I love to meet with Him; where I unwind a little and take some deep breaths in the morning or at sunset. It's like a secret place where I can clear my head and 'slow down' a little more when I need to. And I want to protect it. When times get busy, I still want such a secret yet familiar place to go to. Whatever quiet chair you might have to sit for a while and have a heart-to-heart talk, may it be a place of seeking, meeting and rest.
Costly Grace
"Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate. Costly grace is the treasure hidden in the field; for the sake of it a man will go and sell all that he has. It is the pearl of great price to buy which the merchant will sell all his goods. It is the kingly rule of Christ, for whose sake a man will pluck out the eye which causes him to stumble; it is the call of Jesus Christ at which the disciple leaves his nets and follows him. Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock. Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner. Above all, it is costly because it cost God the life of his Son: "ye were bought at a price," and what has cost God much cannot be cheap for us. Above all, it is grace because God did not reckon his Son too dear a price to pay for our life, but delivered him up for us. Costly grace is the Incarnation of God." - Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship

Picture: Being above cloud-level is one thing, but feeling and knowing you are (just a tiny bit) closer to the sun is another. Yet, we are still about 150 million kilometers away from this ginormous ball of fire that sustains life here on earth. The earth is so big, but yet, it is so small. The galaxies He created are majestic in that way. On a side note, always thankful for journey mercies. Everything comes at a cost one way or another.
I'll be documenting more photos from my #Bali trip! I had fun snapping during my time there. I hope these captured moments will show you not just a culture in this beautiful island, but a wonder and serenity of creation and the simplicity of life there. Picture: View from the 'air-bus' overlooking the peaks of mountains above cloud-level. It's amazing: as if the land touches the sky at this point! #BaliBeauty

Verse 2: We shook the shivers off Took all the memories to account We will make it up in days to come We are moulding clay Once made can also easily break We are the art of the generation
Verse 2 (cont): We go through joy and pain Like words, a million within a page We are harmonious assemble
As the deep calls to deep / All Your waves over me / In the roar of Your waterfalls / Mercy swept over me // I am Yours / I am Yours / God Your song carries on / By the day / Love is guiding me / By the night / Stays Your song // I am Yours / I am Yours / Put my hope in You Lord / I will yet praise You evermore / You're my Savior and Lord / #nightwrite
For the stillness of your voice / Take me right out from the noise / I need your heart beating in mine / Your life and hope, a fire inside. // You can calm my stormy sea / You'll restore the joy in me // Wrap me up in open arms // Safe and whole where your love runs through / Where your love runs through. #nightwrite
Upon the wall. Some are coming your way soon y'all!
The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention… A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words.

“The overall purpose of human communication is - or should be - reconciliation. It should ultimately serve to lower or remove the walls of misunderstanding which unduly separate us human beings, one from another.” ― M. Scott Peck, The Different Drum: Community Making and Peace
"The problem of why God created the universe still troubles thinking men; but if we cannot know why, we can at least know that He did not bring His worlds into being to meet some unfulfilled need in Himself, as a man might build a house to shelter him against the winter cold or plant a field of corn to provide him with necessary food. The word ‘necessary’ is wholly foreign to God." -Tozer
