@esmeraldangel came in a third time. Esmeralda is an artist who's already had such huge success in her career (google her and you'll see her standing with karl lagerfeld and his cat, in a marc jacobs ad, the list of accomplishments is long). I can barely express the excitement and gratitude I feel at people coming through that door again and again. I know I won't see them every time. I know I won't be doing this forever. I know I have to give myself fully on each occasion if I'm to hope they'll return. But when I know someone is back (like later today hello Maeve!!), I walk to the studio with a special kind of high. Excited to hear how they've been, where they've been, how they've changed, excited to try to do better, to get better, listen better, laugh harder... more of all the good things. Anyway, amazing. This beautiful soul is Dereks Thomas. I always say that the photos aren’t so much about the peak moments of laughter or even the occasional tears, but the moments in between, more quietly expressive and suggestive of a moment that happened or is about to happen.
