Circle of Light (Great Southern Hotel, Sydney) 2016
For the last couple of years I have been making circular artworks made from local materials or objects when I am travelling. They examine a sort of existential divinity, encapsulating my thoughts and emotions at the time and propose a place for reflection or contemplation, a place of safety. Previously I have created these works with materials such as sticks, sand and imitation diamonds. In this iteration I purchased 9 mini LED torches from Daiso and arranged them into a circle with the torches activated. It is reminiscent of a spiritual mandala or of an aureole suspended above the heads of saints in religious artworks.

The Way
I think that It was always to be this way, this would by my fate or destiny; that I would by isolated, alone, autonomous, singular and free from attachment. This is a gift. I would have to look deep within myself now, rely on myself only, help others, learn, breathe and be in love with nature. When I watch the story of the Buddha which I will do for all of my lifetime I am looking into a mirror, watching the story of myself unfold before my eyes. The day that I need nothing will be the greatest day of my life. I hope that this will be everyday.
