Davina Claire Appreciation Week ► Day 4 - Favorite spell.
Separate from power is a witch’s imagination. Power is cool, but there’s an issue if a witch doesn’t figure out how to use it efficiently.
Davina is pretty good with her imagination, as seen when she mixed together and reversed Esther’s spells in order to unlink Klaus and his sire line.

He smiled when the girl ran into his arms and he hugged her like he wasn’t planning on letting her go anytime soon. Which might be pretty close to the truth. When it came to Davina, he was still tempted to lock her in her room, just to make sure no one could harm her. “How could I not? You’ve been away for years, D! Skyping is not the same as seeing you for real, so yeah… I would have thrown you a parade if I knew you’d come back.” He grinned and tousled her hair, far shorter than he was used to. It fitted her though. “Nah, I like it. Come on… you can’t blame me for having a good look at you after all that time. And you’d have scolded me as well if I wouldn’t have commented about it.”
❝ Just because we are from New Orleans doesn’t mean we have to throw a parade for everything ❞ Davina quickly argued, always so quick to do so. Even if it was harmless and even if she was a lot more grown, she could not help her defiant nature that peaks here and there. Davina smacked the hand that tousled her hand and quickly smoothed out the mess he made of her hair ❝ Okay if I am back we need to have some rules. I’ve been trying to tell you this since I was sixteen, hopefully you will listen... Not more treating me like a kid. While we are on the subject of scolding, you and I need to have a talk, but not here. Is it too bold of me to expect a room open for me at your place? ❞

“No, that can’t be it,” he shook his head, dismissing her playful jab, “I’m extremely mentally stable.” Was he? Was he really? He brought his ex girlfriend and new finance to New Orleans with him where he knew his other ex would be. That is not a logically sound decision to make. “I get along with everyone,” except Marcel – the thought made his jaw tense, “You may be able to burn it off but we drink liquor like it water where I’m from and I can easily make myself numb to the side effects.”
Davina let out a small laugh feeling at ease and satisfied with the flow of the conversation. There, it no longer felt so foreign and forced. This is how she remembers them and how she always wants to ❝ That’s not a valid argument because you cannot stop the effect it has on your mind, even if you numb yourself you can’t numb yourself from it making you think slower. Like if you are poisoned you can stop yourself from feeling it but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t do what it does ... So I don’t accept your argument ❞

You know how resourceful I can be ❞ Davina reached for her sister’s hand, everything Davina had Kendra has claim over as far as Davina was concerned ❝ When the harvest happened you came to me, left everything and just made sure I was okay, let me return that favor.. It’s the only way I could ever begin to pay you back with all you’ve done for me ❞

“I know it’s been a while, Phoenix, but you should remember that I am always right,” he smiled, almost warmly. This could spell trouble for him, for his group, for his mission. When she found out why he was back, and he knew she would, she would get in the way. What if he would have to go through her to get to Marcel. It wasn’t a thought he wasn’t to entertain right now. “I’m just trying to keep my presence in the Quarter to a minimal. I think I’ll be staying closer to the swamp this time around.” He held out his arm for her to take hold of, “Shall we get a drink?”
❝ No you’re not. You just like to pretend that you are even when people tell you otherwise which means you are just delusional ❞ Davina said with a small laugh, maybe she was being paranoid and they really were okay, only time was going to put her at ease with the initial suspicions of her. ❝ You always did get along with the wolves ❞ Her statement loaded with double meaning as she laughed at her won little joke. Her mind already wondering if he had seen Gabriel yet yet ❝ We shall, just letting you know my drinking habits have changed a little since we last saw each other. I’m actually not afraid of alcohol now specially since I actually burn through it quicker. to be honest, I think you might be a lightweight compare to me now ❞
Stepping outside from the cafe, Kendra fought to quickly hide her small notebook of spells into her bag because she knew that a pair of eyes or two were always on her. “ Can you believe I used to be one of those? ” she nodded towards the stalls of tarot card readers. “ You know, people will pay anything to hear what they want. ”
❝ You’re a good person, you just wanted reassurance the things were going to turned out alright ❞ Davina answered her sister with a smile ❝ I know you want nothing more than to know that for sure and I’ll have you know that you won’t have to pay me any money for the reassurance. I will make it alright ❞

Marcel wasn’t paying attention to the cab slowing down, to the passenger getting out of it. It happened dozens of times a day. Most of the tourists here didn’t deserve a second glance anyway. They didn’t matter. But then he caught the tail of the conversation. The sound of that voice, the way the girl moved… that could only be one person. One that should be on the other side of the ocean, as far as he knew. “D?”, he asked when he turned around and faced his protegee. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming back? I could have one of my guys pick you up at the airport! How are you? Let me look at you… what did you do to your hair?”
As mad at him as she was, one look, one smile, and she couldn’t help but run to his arms. It had been a little too long. Sure she was mad that he made himself a target but it was nice to see him a live and well. ❝ I didn’t tell you because I knew you would make a big deal about it ❞ Davina hit his arm when he commented on her hair ❝ Can you please not react like I just shaved my head off? I cut a few inches ❞

She was warm, just like he remembered. Her heat clung to him even after their bodies parted. It wasn’t just the growing numbness inside of him that caused his distance from her. He was there to kill a man Davina loved like a father. He really didn’t want to get her in the middle of it either. “I’m sure with your talent, you’ll be able to carve out a good career for yourself,” he looked around them, “Can we do it outside of the Quarter? I’m trying to keep my presence here to a minimum.”
She felt this certain awkwardness, one she never had with him before. Ivan had always manage to make her feel comfortable, even when they were just gettting to know each other he always made her feel like there was a spot always there for her. Meeting like this, it felt like he had to make room, everything felt a little forced and she couldn’t help but pick up on that. Still she was not one to give up easily and she was determined to have them back in a good place ❝ Hopefully this is one of those things which you are right about ❞ Davina commented, moving the conversation along ❝ Sure, I mean if those are the conditions for time with you, sure outside of the quarter is fine ❞

He had never really been one to be shocked by anything. In fact, he figured he’d run into Davina at some point while he was here. But actually seeing her, that a whole different story. There was somewhere inside him that could recall how she use to make him feel. That place felt farther and farther every day, dimmed down because of his decision to focus on his training and coven. She crashed into him, his arms instantly wrapped around her as a reflex. “Hello, Phoenix,” he pulled back slowly, not wanting to linger, “How’s it feel to be a college graduate?”
If memory served Davina right, Ivan use to hug her a llot tighter, longer... Warmer. which was a funny thought considering her body temperature was at 103 F0 Dark blue eyes looked up at him trying to not expose that confusing she felt understanding that the last time they shared an embrace things were a little different- or a lot rather. The nickname sounded so forign ❝ It’s amazing, now I just have to figure out what I am going to do with the degree ... Do you want to get a drink, catch up, maybe share why you’re here of all places? ❞

❝ Maybe if you play nice, even I had to learn that one eventually ❞ Davina sassed back, some things never did change. As grown as she was, and as much as she has learned to keep that infamous temper of hers in control, taming her her tongue was never part of the agenda ❝ When did you and I become friends so I can share why I am or am not here? You can make educated guesses seeing what has happened recently, or you can keep asking questions but you aren’t getting an answer from me ❞

“That isn’t what I’m talking about, but okay.” Charles had always been outspoken about his feelings towards Davina, he wasn’t particularly happy that the harvest back then hadn’t gone to plan and the fact that she had all that power in her well… to put it lightly, pissed him off. “What’s brought you back?”
Davina was never good an empathizing with people, but she had learned to be observant. She was no Alex, and she couldn’t feel what Charles was feeling but he looked miserable and very unhappy with her being here ❝ Maybe I’m home sick? Or maybe I came to claim my place in the coven and kick you out ❞

“Look what the cat dragged in.” Charles drawled as he was sat up on a wall, watching her approach to walk past before jumping down and following. “You’ve been gone a very long time, things have changed.”
❝ I hate those little sayings ❞ Her reunion with not a warm one, for her memories of her weren’t exactly nice and cuddly. But Davina prided herself to be over the harvest and everything that had taken place here. But she wasn’t about to be some hypocrite and put on a mask of niceness ❝ I doubt they’ve changed that much, it is New Orleans after all ❞

He really didn’t want this mission to take as long as the last one did. They should be able to get in, take care of those they needed to take care and retrieve the Originals. Though, it was that easy than Kendra or Hayley would’ve done it ages ago. He knew he should spend as little time in the Quarter as possible, Marcel would be keeping a close eye on him. Maybe he’ll have Catalina stake out the city, posing as a tourist, while he stayed in the swamp and worked on their strategy. He walked quickly down the streets, just wanting to case what all had changed. they would be relying on his experience in this city so he needed to understand how much he needed to adapt. How different is a Marcel led city as opposed to a Klaus led one? He slowed when his senses picked on a presence and his eyes immediately found her. “Davina,” he spoke loudly enough across the street from where the petite witch walked for. Shit.
Even in the loudness of the city, she was still able to pick out her name. There was no denying the tone, the accent ... She never got tired of hearing her name from his lips but she didn’t really have much time to focus on that as the shock factor was what had taken over ❝ Ivan? ❞ For a minute she thought he was a figment of his imagination, but it only took a second for her to realize that she was not dreaming. Her legs, having some kind of deja vu, carried her towards him with the urgency they’ve always they’ve had when he was the destination. While writing him form time to time, her contact with the Russian has been minimal since their break up. She crashed into his chest, and her arms wrapped themselves around him.

Matt noticed the strange car before anyone else did. He knew there were tourists coming to this town constantly, but after everything that was going on right now, he could better be safe than sorry. Too many people were losing their memories and the last thing this town needed was another one of those vampire activity flare ups. His lips curled up into a smile though when he noticed a well known face, although slightly older, stepping out of the car. “Davina?” He shook his head. Her hair was shorter, but she still had the same smile and the same look in her eyes. “What brings you back to New Orleans?”
Head turned towards the one to called her name. Her smile was instant upon seeing his and Davina did not hesitate to hug him ❝ I am allowed to come home, aren’t I? ❞ She pulled away to look up at him, sadly, height was not one of the things she grew in. ❝ It’s so good to see you, to see you okay ❞
Davina rolled down the windows of the car that picked her up from the airport. New Orleans, the place she calls home... A dysfunctional one, but home anywas. She had not planned to come here, but one word was spoken about what was going on and she rushed. Not with intent of ebing in the middle of it (not that she minded if she was anyways) but to ensure the protection of all the ones she loved that were playing a part. ❝ Can you stop the car? ❞ She asked politely. The car pulled up and Davina stepped out ❝ I think I’ll walk the rest of the way, please just drop off my luggage ❞ Her now short hair traveled over her bare shoulders with easy as she looked around her city. Davina smoothed out her off-shoulder dress, and let the her heels join the symphony of the city as she began to walk.
