@ Khaliya: fite me
I highly recommend you follow the person I reblogged this from.
I love having matching icons with Khaliya bc it looks like Jeston is judging her every post and he probably is.
invintersend:
An attempt at response no less draws from her amused grin— “Some manner of—“
Cut off by ducking as a projectile soared overhead. “—training exercise. I’ve volunteered as target and it seems you’re in my way.”
“Then move!” Jeston exclaims, perhaps with more force than necessary. He drops again, avoiding yet another projectile. If he gets hit by one, he’ll undoubtedly be very cross.
A friend loves at all times, but a brother is born for adversity

inq-nayeli:
Beyond all his gruff and frustration, Nayeli sees the concern for Khaliya underneath his words. In the calmness when he speaks in moments. She sighs heavily once more and leans onto her staff, a small barely there smile offered to the elder. “You remember the child and young woman you devoted a good portion of your life protecting, Jeston… You can’t keep doing so.”
Her own gaze travels onto the moving of others out and about. “The humans around her are good people… At least her Inner Circle and Advisors are good. That much is certain.”
“And when it’s convenient that they don’t? To turn it all around on the elf leading them? What will happen to her then?” he asks, no longer attempting to appear mild. Jeston knows how it will end. The same way it ended for their father. He’s sworn it wouldn’t happen to is family again, even if his sister is bent on destroying herself.
“Someone has to look out for her best interest. No one else will for me,” he finishes.
stxrmcaller:
He was too quiet for her liking but she hadn’t expected much else from a hunter; even the most friendly in her clan were not known for being talkative. Her staff pushed aside an overgrown bush as they continued further into his territory.
“Do you often meet travelers?
“No. I try to avoid them,” he replies. “Shemlen only bring trouble when they see us.”
It’s true enough. Clans are raided, burned, and destroyed because of the fears of the humans. Jeston and his sister’s father was a victim of one such attack. Dwelling on it only brings him pain and grief at the loss. He pushes the thoughts aside, like one of the low hanging branches of the trees.

The journey to Skyhold is long and perilous. It’s one, however, Jeston is more than willing to make. There have been rumors, whisperings that his sister, the Keeper’s First, was now the leader of an organization. The Inquisition, they called it, and it had steadily been gaining more and more of a reputation.
Jeston couldn’t believe Khaliya, of all people, would be leading such a thing. More likely she was held captive by the shemlen. And he would be the one to free her from her servitude and bring her home—like always.
Night falls, and Jeston uses it as a cloak to mask his presence. Stealthily, he avoids guard patrols and torches until he’s worked his way into the inner courtyard. No one expected an attack of any sort, it seems. How foolhardy of them.
Or they would have if light hadn’t been cast into his shadows, and exposed him properly.
“Halt!” he hears a guard shout. Then, there’s a Creators damned bell ringing somewhere and a rush of men. Jeston sees his only opportunity, and he takes it in the form of a prisoner. His dagger meets the exposed flesh between helm and armor of the neck as he holds the hapless guard from behind.
“Where is my sister, shemlen?! Where is Khaliya?!” he demands, his eyes glinting as menacingly as the light off of his blade.
fadecloaked:
“I felt like braiding your hair, so I did. You should see how nice it is–I bet all of Skyhold will be in awe.“
“I don’t care what they think. But I’m sure it is regardless.”

daxassan:
“They won’t be. Not fer much longer.” Feyn frowns deeply, clearly troubled. Hopefully, they’ll find the mercenary camp and be able to double back and get rid of any extra traps. “We gotta be on th’right path if’n they’re layin’ traps. We’ll keep headin’ into th’valley.”
“After you,” he says, dusting his hands on his loose tunic. It gives him something to focus on, a way to channel his anger. Jeston gives the trap one last disgusted look, and then steps by it.
Magic exists to serve man and never to rule over him.
fadecloaked:
Ties it together with a silk ribbon.
Alright, he’s pleased.
“Khali, what is this?”
fadecloaked replied to your post.
Begins braiding it into an elaborate bun.
Might be slightly pleased about all of this. Might be.
Braids your hair. B(
Allows it.
stxrmcaller:
His tone had changed somewhat, perhaps without his knowledge, and she opted to change the subject. “What is it like in your clan? We tended not to linger with anyone, and I can barely remember the Arlathvhen.”
“We’re proud of our heritage. We protect our own.” Jeston is at his best when he’s with the clan. Tending to the halla, or sitting around a warm fire, or simply surrounded by his people—it’s where he belongs. That seems too personal for him to share with a stranger, however. “This is true of most clans, though.”
