I hereby propose: the dark spring aesthetic
bright green budding trees against a backdrop of heavy storm clouds; daffodils dripping with rainwater
songbirds singing before the sun has fully risen
cherry blossom petals fallen on asphalt, crushed by footprints and tire tracks
opening the window on a sunny afternoon expecting warmth but instead being met by a cold thawing stillness
impossibly purple crocuses, a deep saturated violet
Not often did the other tribes group together for anything, let alone to form a hunting party, but sure enough theyâd trekked deep beyond the campâs borders with wary glances cast at all faces. So when they heard hooves coming down from the North she and her people had ran, not wanting anything to do with whatever trouble the others would cause; they called out in warning when she ran ahead but she ignored them.
âŠOnly to stop short when confronted by a rider. She glowered at him, scowling at his raised hand. She spit inelegantly at the frozen ground beneath his horse.
âGive me a reason nae tâdo so.â
His horse snorted, pawing and stamping her front hooves against the snow with a dull thud in a show of aggression but was soon soothed by Atreus gingerly running his hands against her neck, muttering soft things underneath his breath before he rose in the saddle.
âIâm getting off my horse now, since I have a rather unfair advantage to being on her.â With that he swung his bad leg over, trying to conceal the pain with a slow exhale before he touched down on the ground.
Cane remained belted at his waist, looking far too much like a sword for Atreus to even consider reaching for it.
âBecause Iâm not going to attack you, that is why.â
Narrowed hazel eyes tracked his every move during the descent, uncaring of his poorly hidden pain; she cocked a hip and waited, arms crossed. Once he was still her attention was focused immediately on the sword at his waist. At least he was a smart Crow.
Her brow furrowed in suspicion. Life had taught her not to trust the Crows--not that she had any faith in his words to begin with--but the knife strapped to the inside of her boot gave her more courage than she wouldâve, shouldâve had.
âProve it.â

âYou could never back down, you never learned to take your time.â âHe looked at me like I was stupid, Iâm not stupid.â âTalk less. Smile more. Donât let them know what youâre against or what youâre for.â âFools who run their mouth off wind up dead.â âWhoâs the best? C'est moi!â âItâs hard to have intercourse over four sets of corsets.â âIf you stand for nothing, whatâll you fall for?â âI will lay down my life if it sets us free.â âI imagine death so much it feels just like a memory.â âIâm laughinâ in the face of casualties and sorrow, for the first time, Iâm thinkin past tomorrow.â âIâm lookin for a mind at work.â âExcuse me, miss, I know itâs not funny, but your perfume smells like your daddyâs got money.â âYou want a revolution? I want a revelation.â âLook around at how lucky we are to be alive right now.â âChaos and bloodshed are not a solution.â âItâs hard to listen to you with a straight face.â âChaos and bloodshed already haunt us, honestly you shouldnât even talk.â âYou say the price of my loveâs not a price that youâre willing to pay.â âYouâll be back. Soon youâll see. Youâll remember you belong to me.â âWhen youâre gone Iâll go mad, so donât throw away this thing we had.â âWhen push comes to shove, I will kill your friends and family to remind you of my love.â âClose the door on your way out.â âHave I done something wrong?â âDying is easy, living is harder.â âBut what do we have in common?â âYou walked in and my heart went âBoomâ!â âIâm about to change your life.â âMy love for you is never in doubt.â âI just might regret that night for the rest of my days.â âIâll never forget the first time I saw your face.â âWhen you said âHiâ I forgot my dang name, set my heart aflame, ev'ry part aflame.â âYouâre like me. Iâm never satisfied.â âHeâs a bit of a flirt, but Iâm âa give it a chance.â âIâm a girl in a world in which my only job is to marry rich.â âFrom what I hear, youâve made yourself indispensable.â âWell, well, I heard youâve got someone special on the side.â âI will never understand you.â âLove doesnât discriminate between the sinners and the saints.â âI am the one thing in life I can control.â âIf thereâs a reason Iâm still alive when so many have died, then Iâm willing to wait for it.â âStay alive âtil this horror show is past.â âIâm a general. Whee!!!!â âYeah. Heâs not the choice I would have gone with.â âDonât do a thing. History will prove him wrong.â âI canât disobey direct orders.â âPick a place to die where itâs high and dry.â âPray that hell or heaven lets you in.â âShould have shot him in the mouth. That wouldâve shut him up.â âWatch your tone. Iâm not a maiden in need of defending, I am grown.â âMy nameâs been through a lot, I can take it.â âThe fact that youâre alive is a miracle.â âI donât pretend to know the challenges youâre facing.â âIf you could let me inside your heartâŠâ âIâm never gonna stop until I make âem drop and burn âem up and scatter their remains.â âYou have no control who lives, who dies, who tells your story.â âHistory has itâs eyes on you.â âSo what happens if we win?â âIf this is the end of me, at least I have a friend with me.â âOceans rise. Empires fall. Itâs much harder when itâs all your call.â âI swear that Iâll be around for you.â âWhy do you assume youâre the smartest in the room?â âWhy do you write like youâre running out of time?â âYo, who the f is this?â âWhat are you waiting for? What do you stall for?â âIf I could grant you peace of mind, would that be enough?â âThey are asking me to lead. I am doing the best I can.â

DAT MILKY WAY
So I've been writing a (terribly malformed) fic centering around the Evanuris and I was wondering: Does Elvhen include Honorifics? Miss, Mister, your grace, your honor? all that?
Sorry this took so long, but this was a much more complicated question than you probably realized. Honorifics are typically very central to the language, so itâs next to impossible to simply translate them (at least if you want to do it right).
Honorifics in Elvhen are separated into three categories: casual (durmelanos), formal (tarmelanos) and revered (enastos).Â
Casual honorifics are used during day-to-day occurrences, and are used to denote respect, but not formality. For example, calling a young girl âmiss,â or a friend âsirâ or âmadam.â In Elvhen, rather than tone inflection, completely different words are used in this situations.
Formal honorifics are just that - they denote not only respect, but formality. For example, calling a superior âsir,â or âmadam.â
Revered honorifics are specifically reserved for individuals who are in positions of major power, such as kings, governors, religious leaders, etc.Â
In the following lists, note that these are not translations, but rather their English equivalents.
Casual Honorifics:
Haain - Sir, madam, maâam, for individuals of middle age or older
Hane - Sir, madam, maâam, for individuals of middle age or older
Ashain - Madam, miss, for women younger than middle age
Ishanudh - Master, sir, for men younger than middle age
Eshanudh / Eshain - generic honorific, for individuals younger than middle age
Formal honorifics:
Haâhren - teacher, leader, guide, sir, madam
Tasha - Madam, lady
Tashain - Miss, mistress, diminutive feminine honorific
Tishan - Sir, lord
Tishanudh - Sir, master, diminutive masculine honorific
Teshan / Tesha - Generic formal honorific
Teshanudh / Teshain - Generic formal diminutive honorific
Revered Honorifics
Eolasos - Your grace, your greatness, your honor
Rajaan - Your majesty
Tarsalos - Your perfection, your holiness
Bellâane - Your holiness, your majesty, your perfection lit. like eternity
Hope that helps.
Sathem.
