“ i have to ask you to leave any weapons on the table in that pile over there. ” diluc points a gloved finger at one of the tables shoved against the wall- already stacked high with weapons of all types. “ you can pick it up when you leave. ” he returns to his wiping down the waxed hardwood of the bar counter.

 “ unfortunately, because of a few bad apples- the knights have asked us to enforce stricter security precautions. ” he stops, and looks up- red eyes glinting. “ you can follow those very simple rules, right- harbinger ? ”

“ everyone was very happy when you came back to the winery for dinner the other day. ” diluc shakes their stupidly strong coffee drink over ice- last night was long, intensive recon mission- they’ll need as much help as they can get. “ it’s all adelinde and elzer can talk about : ‘ young master kaeya this ’and ‘ young master kaeya that ’. ” he stops shaking his coffee over ice. ( depending on how this tasted- maybe it’ll be something he’ll add to the menu in the future. )

he takes a sip- it’s a little too bitter, but has a nice jolt of caffeine he desperately needed. the recipe needed more tweaking, though. “ they told me to tell you to go and visit them on your off days. they miss you for some godsforsaken reason. ” diluc was never good at making jokes, but they hope kaeya would recognize the dry, sarcastic humor that he personally tended to favor.
