"A dance, huh?" He smiled and extended his hand towards her,
"That sounds like a pretty good plan, don't you think?" Dax asked, a smile appearing on his lips.
"I have, actually. I’m just a font of wonderful knowledge; you’d be surprised." She laughed softly and tilted her head, her hands clasping in front of her as she regarded him with amusement. "Color me curious."
"Because most men, when they ask that question, don’t really want to know the answer." She chuckled as she looked him over a bit before shaking her head. "I’m sure you could come up with something comparable to my gossip."
"Oh, so you've had several other men asking the same question?" Dax smiled and shrugged, "I'm sure I could, but then again, you probably wouldn't want to know what it would be. Or would you?"
"I probably should consider taking one of those self defense curses, who knows they might come in handy. Hopefully those ghosts are only people underneath sheets. But I take it you know how to defend yourself?"
"It could also be useful with other things, aside from vicious ghouls lurking in your basement, you should definitely do that. I do, with all the working out I do. I'm not good with kicks, though. Not since high school. But I doubt we'll find ghosts here," Dax chuckled and pointed around, "Only a few drunk people, but nothing to worry about, I expect."
"Of course. But what do I get if I tell you what I’ve learned so far? All that work and you’re getting it on a silver platter." She teased him with a smile.
The constant buzzing of different sounds swelling in Dax's ear, the heat beneath his black costume, and his attempt at getting his voice to reach Delaney's ears by half-shouting made Dax's head spin and ache. He felt as though something were hammering inside of his skull and he could do nothing about it. He felt sweaty, he felt contained, he felt as though he were about to pass out.
"It's pretty crowded, huh?!" Dax practically yelled over the music, the laughter and the voices that surrounded them. He didn't feel quite comfortable. They'd already been there for hours and the heat kept rising and the noise seemed to get louder as every minute passed.
He'd found the mansion so huge that he'd thought feeling oppressed in such a place was impossible. He'd been wrong. And people kept coming in, and he saw people go out, and then back in again. He thought about that. About going outside and breathing fresh air. Maybe hanging out there for a while and getting to talk normally without having to overuse their vocal chords. Delaney was, so far, a very interesting person to talk to, besides the fact that they both knew Jeff from high school. And although they hadn't hung out much and hadn't shared the same sort of relationship with Jeff back then, they'd found a lot to talk about. The teachers, the games, the classes, the other students, but also what had happened to them since they left after their senior year. However, they had little chance to share long stories, and had kept it short so far due to the commotion around them.
"Hey, listen, it's kind of loud in here. Would you like to go outside for a bit?" Dax had lowered his voice by a few decibels, although he was still somewhat shouting, and gotten closer to her, trying to avoid the people walking past them without paying attention.
She burst into an amused laughter and nudged his shoulder with hers. “Well then I’m afraid you need to give me some of your strength. That is a tough one, I honestly don’t know either.”
"You are absolutely right on that one. A little bit of both." She shrugged a bit and nodded. "Getting to know people is great, but sometimes I prefer just watching everyone."
"I enjoy being able to have my own space but you’re right, being with your family as well is something precious." Katia sighed faintly as she watched even more people came in. "My brother’s idea, open invitation. It makes for a better party."
"The perfect thing would be having a bit of both. Enough space, but also family time." Dax nodded, "Well, that's a good idea, I think. I mean, you get to know lots of people. That's a good, thing, right?"
"How do you fight off spirits or ghosts? Any tips and tricks you mind sharing? In case I get attacked before you come to my rescue." She smiled warmly. "Thank you so much."
"Well, you obviously have to be just as strong as me," Dax lightly laughed and shrugged jokingly, "Actually, I wouldn't know. I haven't had the chance to fight one off yet."

These songs are all part of Dax's favorites for different reasons.
The Real Slim Shady
All you other Slim Shadys are just imitating
This song reminds Dax of his college years. The parties, the friends he met, Spring Break... All of these come back vividly into Dax's mind whenever he listens to this song.
My Generation
I'm not trying to cause a big sensation
I'm just talkin' 'bout my generation
His father used to listen to the Who quite often during Dax's childhood, and this particular song stayed with the young boy until now.
All Hands Against His Own
He found all hands against his own,
And no light from up above,
Just a dark and lonely road,
He found all hands against his own.
Apart from the fact that Dax is a great fan of the Black Keys, this song also reminds him of the times after he broke his ankle.
Heroes
I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
This song reminds Dax of prom night, although nothing particularly special happened back then, he just remembers when it played by the end of the night.
Twee
Fuck me, I'm Twee
Tweepop is one of Dax's guilty pleasures, and this song is just one of his many favorites of the genre.
Dangerous Type
She's a lot like you
The dangerous type
One of his ex-girlfriend's favorite songs. She listened to it so often that Dax remembered the lyrics, although he's forgotten her since then.
I Know What I Want
I’m flattered you could work me into you story
But you should be more careful with your allegory
Dax's favorite song from one of his favorite Seattle-based bands that he's listened to since their first EP was released.
C.R.E.A.M
Times is rough and tough like leather
Figured out I went the wrong route
Lifelong rap fan, this song has stuck with Dax since he was 14 years-old. Back then, when he wasn't playing baseball, he'd be found listening to Wu-Tang Clan albums on repeat.
Loop Duplicate My Heart
And it's bigger than everything I have ever done before.
Whenever he listens to this song, Dax is in a complete state of relaxation. Not to mention that it's also a tweepop song.
Only a few seconds before Kenzie had stepped through the very same doors as her hazel eyes scanned briefly. A small gasp was lodged in the back of her throat as she placed a few fingers over her mouth in awe. ”It is, isn’t it” she replied to the man beside her- she had no idea who it was; the masks concealed everybody and because Kenzie didn’t know many people as it was they would basically all stay as a mystery. ”I’ve never seen anything like it” she muttered.
"It is..." Dax nodded, still feeling quite amazed by the size of the mansion. "I mean, I knew it would be big, just not like this, y'know. But it's cool. Nice costume, by the way." Dax smiled as though he knew her, although he didn't really recognize anyone behind the masks.
