Naeun was so immersed in her homework that she didn’t notice she had company until the chair across from her was pulled away. She blinked, lifting her head and tugging on the chord of her earbuds to yank them from her ears. When she spotted the man taking the seat across from her, her lips pulled into an easy smile.

“It’s been a while,” she returned, sitting up straighter and gathering her belongings closer to clear a space for him. Her smile turned a little sheepish as she set about stacking her books and notebooks together– she didn’t remember unpacking so many, but the stack growing beside her told a different story.

Belongings safely piled on the corner of the table, Naeun turns her full attention back to Junhyung. “How have you been?”

Junhyung watched the female and he couldn’t help not smile at the view. She indeed was the same. At his old job he and his co-workers would always watch out for her and admire the girl for her hard work. Though, the purple haired male had to admit at first he believed she was one of the many foolish “scholars” who just waste money and time for another four years of their life. That at least until he took a peek at her books and figured that what she is studying can’t be excelled with self teaching and practice.

“I’m fairing well. How about yourself?” he answered her, his eyes moving to the tittles of the books staked at the side. Some words sounded familiar, maybe heard from a TV show, news, or anything, but none of them gave Junhyung a good idea of what they were. Well, except the obvious ones that every person knew, but didn’t really have a good idea on it. “Overtiring yourself aren’t you?” he added in, seconds later, moving his eyes to the girl again.

Eyes watched as the stranger slipped into the empty seat opposite him, hands reaching out for his phone. Gil paused, not even batting an eye as he examined the bad cuts on his face. Someone must be really pissed of to have given him that makeover, that much the lounge manager could tell. It wasn’t his business and naturally he wouldn’t ask, though he was sure it’ll be an interesting story. Or something certainly more interesting then fixing this phone. Still, he slid the phone over - if someone could fix it for him, why not? He’s not one to pass up on the offer only to end up driving to an Apple store if there’s free help right in front of him.

If the man failed, though, there will be one additional souvenir for butting into his business.

“Unclosed apps? I’m sure you can see that the only app opened is my text inbox,” he commented dryly, voice still soft as he leaned into the cushioned chair. He’s not one to play games or use anything else besides the functional calls and texts, the emails and occasionally the music player. There were no games, rarely any photos. A mobile phone is merely, as it suggests, a tool to beckon others while on the go. “And yet as a consumer, I pay to get my phone breaking down in mere months, how fair is that,” he drawled, still watching how the young man worked on his phone. “What if it doesn’t open?” he asked, a bad-nature smile appearing on his face, “do I get the permission to wreck my own phone then?”

“I don’t plan to snoop on what you have in it and what not. I was just saying.” he had no reason to, and even if he did want to, or had a reason, he would not make it like that. So obviously and in front of the man at that. He had other means to do such a thing, and he had done it once, maybe, or twice. He had taken it as a challenge of his abilities, and even if it was hard he had managed to open up someone’s phone gallery... Though remembering what he got witness to at the current moment made the man’s nose scrunch from distaste, resulting in his hand being brought up to scratch the bridge of his nose in try to hide that from the stranger.

“It will open, and it will work fine.” he spoke, straightening up, his arms crossing on the table before him. He was as confident in that as he was sure his name was Yong Junhyung. “If it does not then there is something wrong with the hard—, ... there is some defective part. I would advise you to bring it in for changing, not wreck it.” he voiced out the last part with a scowl. Even from his kid’s days the purple male could not understand why did people enjoy breaking their possessions. He didn’t get it and for odd reasons something inside of him hurt every time he was witness to anything. And especially if it was some type of gadget, he felt like going to slap the person. Yes, he had hit his own computer too, or smashed the keyboard and mouse a few times, but he never managed to breaking them, and if he damaged them — he fixed them.

He stared at the male a few more seconds before he ducked his head down, sighing. “But is it your own phone, do as you please.”

She had gathered her things, minimized her mess to a crumpled napkin and an empty glass. These were the moments that made her presence too large, too clumsy, the times when she retreated to herself quietly, curled up, hoped to disappear. Because her cheeks were still rosy and warm from embarrassment, and the waiter that had suffered because of her company was still cutting through the room, attending, serving. Jinha chewed on her lip as her finger traced the bumps on her purse, the delicate linings of the pattern, traced into a brand, one she never cared for but received a lot of; thoughtless gifts, generic, given to every pretty woman who walked past these men.

Her fingers curled around her glass, played with it, enjoyed the cool temperature. Without anyone to entertain, the remaining minutes seemed pointless; they were like swirls of smoke that curled around itself, that danced in the air, muddle the light, moldered in a matter of seconds; they only remained in a bad smell, one that clung to fabrics, to hair, to people. She looked down, tightened her fists; her legs pushed together; her back curved, leaned forward. It was one of the feelings she most detested; it wasn’t being a necessity she enjoyed, but the distraction that came with it.

Here, with no one to break to silence, with no purpose other than to sit, to wait, to avoid a man as she left, there was only time for bad thoughts, the one that forced her to scrub her skin, the one that pricked her eyes open at night with tears, with solemn memories of a streak of red, a gunshot she never heard.

Yet, she wasn’t the one to break the silence; she wasn’t the one to fracture the peace that had settled, the one that suffocated her, that filled her lungs with corrosive trembles. It was he, the boy with violet hair, the one she was feeling pity for; he appeared, spoke to her, and Jinah could do nothing but smile. “I’m not afraid of him. Just inconvenienced by him.” she told him, though fear was more accurate; she had collected enough purples on her skin to know cause and effect. “That would be nice–I still want you to have an apology. Mostly because I can’t pay for what he drank; not with this wallet, anyway. He has…expensive taste.”

“You all women are so difficult.” he grumbled, his hand absentmindedly reaching to ruffle his hair and mess it even more than it already was, or fix the mess that had flattened down. People had different views on it. “What’s really going in the head of all of you? A tornado that doesn’t hear the outside world?” He peeked at her with the corner of his eye, his frame still being the same and facing the casino before them. Junhyung never managed to catch on to women’s logic, even with having to deal with a little sister, that task was insanely hard. “I said I don’t need an apology.” he didn’t need an apology, not from her. He needed to land a firm fist on that rich brat’s jaw, or nose. Or maybe do something else, which her later statement was so gracious to remind him of.

He waved his hand at her, and his lips pulled into a smile. Something like this happening was obviously the first time for her, and for some reason, it made Junhyung’s lips stretch like that. He found it funny and he was not sure exactly why. Maybe it was the fact that she was worrying how to pay, not thinking how to get away with it. “He will pay for it himself, stuff like this happen here and there. And I am sure the casino has his contacts. It’s not like I haven’t seen him before here too.” The purple haired boy pushed himself off the counter, only to turn his back on the casino’s tables and lean his elbows on the bar. He really wanted to take a seat, but he wasn’t allowed to do so before the guests' eyes. It brought bad reputation. “I have thirty more minutes, then I will take you home, as I said. If you get bored call that idiot.” he said, pointing at the waiter, “talk to him, or order anything. It’s on me.” he looked at her again, pursing his lips to the side and squinting his eyes. He had a feeling she would protest, that’s why he added: “I can afford it, so don’t ponder on it.” He managed to afford all the brand clothes and bags his sister wanted, after all. One drink on that bill won’t hurt his pocket... well, it will, but he had his ways to restore it. “You’ll be okay?”

One of the shows Junhyung re-watched recently had a really nice saying about coincidences: "universe is rarely so lazy.“, but right now he believed he stumbled on one of those rarely lazy moments of the universe. He had to, otherwise the options for this coincidence, to not be one, were worrisome for the male. And he was still at that point of time, where he wished, every morning after opening his eyes, that what had happened till now was a bad dream. But every morning as he walks out of his room and meets his sister’s eyes, with that barely visible glint of worry, he faces the reality that what happened was not a dream. It was just Fate throwing him a black card.

But not now, not today, not at this moment. Now, the universe was lazy, and he was given a grey card, if not white. “Still the same.” he spoke in an even tone, leaving his plastic cup with iced Americano on the wooden surface and giving himself the liberty to occupy the available chair. “Long time no see, Naeun-ssi— or at least: long time no mutual see.” he smiled at the female before him, his fingers finding their way to his neck to scratch the skin slightly. A reflex of the male when he felt nervous.

“Heh!?” Jaejun’s face shows all the disbelief one man could ever feel in a single moment. “What’s this!? Propaganda!? More lies and propaganda! Don’t tell me that the lobster is fishy too!?”

The cook slumps heavily over the counter of the booth, rattling a few empty bowls ready to be filled beside him as he drops his weight next to them.

He’s lifting his head back up only a moment later though, one of the customers just come yelling at him to serve them already. Jaejun happens to flip the fellow off, and then proceeds to make up a very nice bowl of ramen for the customer anyways.

“But say now say now, this isn’t the way to go about living now is it my friend?” he asks of Jun some time later, revisiting the start of the conversation. The topic of his pal’s weariness is one he hears often, and it always saddens his manga-ridden romantic self to see such suffering of sleep, when its not due to staying up all night watching anime!

Adjusting his glasses on his face, Jaejun’s lips purse and twitch to the side as he peers at the other male. “This purple isn’t meant to be worn by someone with little feeling!” he says indicating the hair presumably. His own is a shocking shade of bleached nearly white, though he doesn’t have quite enough money for that.

“Isn’t it true? Think back to every anime you’ve ever seen! Every manga on those shelves and now is your little pea brainy space! Come now come now~ Who is the main character hm?” A smirk cracks over his full features. “You’ve got the hair of a main character my friend~ Have you not known it?”

“No, no, no. Lobster is the fishy’s cousin. Their papas were different so they branched into different families.” He assured the overly dramatic cook, with a firm nod of his head, but his mind was back on the cocktail in a flash. He didn’t like the mix of gin and vermouth. Actually he didn’t like gin at all, maybe that was why the cocktail tasted off for him.

The waiter went back to his eating then, leaving the cook to finish with preparing the bowls for the grumpy customers. There were people like those, feeling like they are the kings of the world and they should be put before anyone else and not wait even a second. As a teenager he disliked those people the most, but now he learned to bare up with them.

Halfway trough his meal Junhyung looks up again at Jaejun and raises an eyebrow at the question he was asked. He was often told in high school that he seemed like he was tired by birth. The man reached for one of the bottles of sake he was left, even if he didn’t want them, and opened it up. His mind was going very deep in search of an answer, and he didn’t want that.

“I am wearing it with enough feeling! As much as I can feel.” he said back, with a smile, and rising his little glass as cheers to the cook. “And I may be a side character in one of those fantasy-fairy like anime where everyone has rainbow hair color. Besides, Jia’s been nagging me to dye it something else. She doesn’t like it at all.” and speaking of her the male went back to ponder why he didn’t sleep enough, again. He really was spoiling his little sister. But if it made her happy, why not get the money for something she wanted?

The man poured himself another glass, pursing his lips and thinking over a bit. "Some say we are all the main characters of our stories... Some stories are just not so good, I guess.”

The squeak Tao let out wasn’t very manly. In fact he’d be very ashamed if there was anyone witnessing it (there wasn’t, luckily). But when you reach into a box where the only things you are expecting to find are glossy covers of various magazines - and feel something furry and alive instead - you would squeak too. That’s what Tao thinks as he peers carefully into the box, where a loud purring increases in intensity, announcing him a large, unknown cat is pleased to meet him.

Tao snorts and pets it gently and carefully. As far as cats goes this giant furball seems as mellow and nice as they go. It gets up elegantly and jumps out then bumps its head into Tao’s hand demanding more attention. It’s cute and sweet and Tao is easily swayed, putting unpacking on a hold he pets the cat happy he is not allergic, its longish light-grey fur is everywhere.

“Where did you come from? Are you Shroedinger’s cat or what?”

The purring is so loud it vibrates in Tao’s hand as he’s stroking the cat’s head and back in long strokes. He can feel a bump on its neck and it’s a collar. No surprise it has owner - he or she - Tao’s not sure - is well fed and generally well groomed. “Yong” - is written on a silver plaque.

“So you must be Yong.” Tao smiles and gently lifts the animal and puts it on his navel. He gives the collar all his attention now and on the inside he finds the address. And it’s essentially the same as his - at least starting from today onward, as he’s just settling in into his new apartment. The cat must have sneaked in here when he was running up and down the stairs bringing his things to the apartment.

“So, Yong. It seems we are neighbors.” Tao chuckles. The cat lives literally next door and must have dropped by for a friendly visit. And Tao lets him hang around for a while, as he unpacks. Yong seems to like cardboard boxes and Tao lets him play around with them until it’s really late and he figures his neighbor or neighbors might start worrying, so he takes Yongi in his arms and trots bare-foot to an apartment right next to his and knocks. “We need to get you home” he murmurs.

Today was one of the few days that Junhyung and Jia go to be home at the same time, enjoying a day off. Or in Junhyung’s case it was more likely lazing a day off, for which Jia nagged him numerous times. It was not like he listened, though, or minded. The man was used to all this, so instead of getting up from the couch and leaving his laptop aside, he continued on playing some pretty silly game, where he had to shoot chickens falling from the sky. Besides he had done more than enough in the morning, which consisted of cleaning his own room (that was a huge mess).

“Where is my lazy-partner?” he asked Jia at some point, leaving the laptop behind to play the obnoxious music that played in between the levels, and standing up from the couch to go over the kitchen part of the living room. He wanted to see what his little sister will mix up for supper, and he also wanted something refreshing to drink. Like cold water, or juice, or beer. As long as it was cold it was fine.

“He will come back soon. It’s almost dinner time.” a bit after she said that the door bell rang, and she pushed her brother to the side, silently telling him to get off his laziness and dome something fruitful. Like opening the door. Junhyung wasn’t the best of enthusiast, not that he was ever enthusiastic about anything on his off days, but she was cooking and he didn’t want to eat something burned for dinner, so he complied and walked to the main entrance.

Opening the door the violet haired man was met with someone he was sure he had never seen before. Blond and obviously young male. And with a cat in hand... Now the cat was familiar. Junhyung squinted his eyes at the cat, then moved to the male, then back to the cat. His thought was that Yong, for the first time actually, decided to run off and someone found him and brought him back, but as he was looking at the grey furred animal, he noticed how the younger male was still barefooted, so it only led Junhyung to assume the kid was a neighbor. He moved a bit to the side, if the other didn’t feel like not standing on the concrete. “Step in. Don’t stay at the door.” he spoke finally, reaching with a hand to scratch the back of his neck, since he never managed to figure how to act like a proper neighbor. “I sincerely hope you are not here to complain about him making a mess or something.”

He’s not that much of a cafe person, but Gil finds himself seated in a cafe far from the club and one with a good view. This one had a comforting smell of roasted coffee without the usual sweetness and cinnamon, and he chose a spot in the corner to just enjoy a bit of spare time he has. After all, these kind of luxury don’t come in often. There was a buzz from his pockets, disturbing him from his day-dreaming session. Fingers reaching into his phone to fish out the iPhone, the male tried to unlocked it, but it doesn’t seem to be registering his touch. Lips pursed into a fine line, he shook it, but it doesn’t seem to be making any different.

And it only took him so long before he dropped the phone onto the table, the loud thud sounding out in the room. It still didn’t work, much to his displeasure, and by the second time the phone landed on the table, someone had turned up. “Hnn?” he cocked one brow, irritation written into his delicate features as he frowned. “The best on the market…?” he repeated his words, fingers caressing the metal frame. He knew that, and he bought it because it looked sleek to boot. Though, it didn’t change the fact that it’s not working. “What good is it,” he started, raising the mobile phone up just three inches away from the wooden desk, eyeing over the bruises he’s spotting. He wondered if its because of his nature to interfere with someone elses’ business that got him into this state - he’s not surprised if it is - but if Mr Beatened-up can solve his problems, he wouldn’t mind him butting it. The phone landed once more onto the edge. “if it’s not even working?”

The man stood with his hands in his pockets, carefully watching the other male’s actions and scowling at his reaction. Yes, certainly all phones had problems, some had worse, but he also would love to add in how most new phones were made in a way that forced people to learn with them, and some people weren’t fit to that. Apparently the male before him was one of those guys. “Honestly, you can fix it quick.” he spoke, once the phone was roughly dropped on the table. He took the liberty to sit across the other male, and reached his hands for the device, but he didn’t pull it to himself. Instead he kept it where it was, not wanting the person to misunderstand him. God was Junhyung’s witness that he didn’t want any more misunderstandings for the time being.

“Phones are not flawless nowadays, because companies rush to release something new on the market before the rest. Some are still better than others, though.” With swift movements the bruised man pressed the ‘Home’ and ‘Sleep’ button until the apple logo showed up, then he backed away his hands, getting them back into his pockets and looking up at the male. “If it doesn’t respond just do that next time. Also, do you close the applications you use? Unclosed apps can slow down your device too.” Junhyung was pretty sure he knew the answer to that one, but he still asked, tilting his chin towards the device and adding in: “I mean from the menu you open after you tap the home button twice.”

At some point, she stopped listening, stopped caring; her hands stilled as she surrendered to impotence. Because she couldn’t tame a raging sea, she couldn’t calm the waves, couldn’t coax a pool of water from an ocean that thrashed, that forged anger in the name of pride. Instead she looked away, partly embarrassed, partly relieved. Responsibility slipped through her fingers, fluttered in the air, curled like ribbons that danced in the breeze, that rode the wind’s long, deep sighs. He wasn’t hers to take care of, that wasn’t her job, wasn’t her hobby, so she let him unfold, let him be the author of his own demise, the one he wrote in the air with words, scrawled into his fate with gripped hands, insults that splattered around like blood, the color of rust, of shame.

Jinah folded her hands in front of her, waited. It wouldn’t be long before security would let her leave as well, force her to follow an enraged man into the cool of the night where nothing restrained him, nothing anchored him, called for him to mask his mood, his remarks. Her lips thinned, suspense quivered up her spine, chilled her bones; it loomed, forced goosebumps to sprout along her back, dots that climbed up the pebbles of her spine; it was almost beautiful, almost dazzling the way her body seemed to crumble like the falling sky, like the dust that flit around, settled in the safety of shadows.

But it never came, never reached her. Her wait ended with the words of the waiter, syllables that built a rift between her and her client, a peaceful distance, one she waded in, one she appreciated. She turned to thank him but her words clumped in her throat, become a tangled, clumsy web of sounds, strands that twined together, knotted. It was, in part, her own fault that he had been shoved through the ragged ordeal of dealing with her client; but just the same, he had saved her. It wasn’t shame she felt, but something similar, a tint lighter; something that neared transparent, a feeling that made her feel nude, bared. As though she couldn’t hide behind expensive clothes and an air of elegance or the fragrance that clung to her clothes, unmarred by the thick smell of alcohol that gathered around the table, clustered around her seat. Her hands pulled apart, one wrapped around her purse, one traced the curve of the table’s edge. Her heart drummed against the cage of her ribs, a quiet patter she hoped was silent, wished would end soon. Nervous, excited, she called out.

“Thank you. I owe you.”

Hearing her faint words worked like an ice cube sliding down the warm skin of Junhyung’s back — it came out of nowhere and the male least expected that. He actually believed the woman had turned away and walked to the bar, as he had told her. He turned around to her, scowling and waving his hand for her to get going already and let him do his work. ‘You have to apologize.’ he reminded himself as he again got back to work, picking out .

It took him awhile. Took him quite awhile to get back to the woman, because he had to clean, he had to serve, he had to report on what had happened in the casino, because like it or not -- he was in the middle of what happened... and he had to serve again. But he managed to reach the bar before the female left, and not only to hand the bartender the piece of paper he had tainted with his horrible handwriting, hoping the male making the drinks will decrypt his message and prepare what he needed for when he returned. He walked the familiar distance, knowing he won’t be handed another tray of glasses, and knowing he can lean on the dark wood of the bar, his bare elbows cooling off on the marble top of it.

Some days Junhyung hated his uniform, white shirt, whose sleeves could be rolled up a notch above the elbow with a string, red bow-tie (which frankly made him look stupid, and suffocated him, and he just hated it), black trousers, black vest and black dress shoes, which Junhyung hated more than anything (even more than the bow-tie) in the beginning. But other days he didn’t mind it so much. Not when he knew he can feel like an egg in a boiling water after so much running in other dress-ups.

“Let’s get it straight. You owe me nothing.” he finally spoke, looking at the woman. His face didn’t falter, it kept that cold expression it always had, especially with strangers. “I am the one who owes an apology, and I because of that I will send you home later if you are scared of that drunkard.”

Even though Jun had said otherwise, a chilled bottle of sake still ends up in front of him alongside the hot bowl of noodle soup. Jaejun puts his fingers to his ears while he just grins at the other young man, making a show of not hearing a single protest for the alcohol. Of course, when the purple-haired fellow leans in as if in a conspiratorial manner, the one nicknamed Alice has to remove those fingers from his ears to lean in and listen. He’s not about to miss out on some juicy details!

What he gets instead isn’t what he’d expected, and behind his glasses the bleached blonde’s eyes widen almost comically so. That only happens for a moment until he’s snatching up Jun’s chopsticks sitting beside his meal to pinch the friend’s nose with them.

“You want to say that louder and then everyone will hear you!?” he just about yells, which sort of ruins the whole point of his peeved demeanor. Of course anger isn’t an emotion that ever truly seems to register with the young Korean, it doesn’t wear well on him and besides he isn’t actually mad about this. He’s just making a point.

Now when he leans in, poking the chopsticks into Jun’s soup this time and letting them go, Jaejun does lower his voice, even if that’s more like a normal person’s tone than anything close to a whisper. “Now see here. The mystery of it all is what brings them back! You work too you should know all about that! Flirting is a business skill one’s got to have!”

And that’s what Jaejun leaves this bit of the conversation at, not caring to ever clear up the ‘mystery’ of his own sexuality (because in all honesty it was just as muddled to him as anyone else).

“So what’s this about being too busy? Did someone skip out on their turn? Or didn’t they have enough workers today at that ritzy asshole place? Just how many waiter types do they need to keep the fat gamblers happy with their smokes and drinks and shrimp cocktails eh?” he asks as he returns to work, cooking up another bunch of noodles for the few drunks that had ambled over along to the booth. Its not busy for Jaejun here tonight, but not dead either, leaving him enough attention to pay to a friend.

“I did say it as quiet as possible!” the tired waiter protested, sitting in his seat once his nose was released, a hand reaching to rub the abused part of his face. His eyes move to the bottle of sake and even if he resists he knows he will end up drinking it later on. Especially when he knew he had enough money to call a cab to drive him home. “I was teasing you, dude. Chill.”

He sniffs up, feeling his nose get the feeling back to it, and then picks up the chopsticks to finally get to his meal. He picks a portion of the noodles up, letting them cool down a bit before he chews on them. In the meantime he keeps on listening to his friend and he wants to laugh out loud. Actually he does that, bending a bit forward and soaking half the noodles he held up back into the hot soup, ignoring the other customers looking at him weirdly.

“Well,” he spoke, once he calmed down, “that ritzy place has enough staff, but if you go to work on 3 hours of sleep, and walk around serving, people I don’t have to work that business skill on by the way, you will be tired as fuck too.” the purple haired man looked at the man behind the counter, sticking his tongue at him mockingly, before he went back to eating. Jaejun had turned out to be one of those people that made Junhyung loosen up and one of the people he felt comfortable with letting see his childish side. a simple question but the string of answers that followed told xavier more than what he needed to know. the scouts were right and the information they had gathered about this man was true. he should’ve felt guilty, but he didn’t, especially not after the offensive comments that the other had spewed - regardless of with intention or no - had served their offensive purpose. besides, xavier would rather have the wrong guy from the start than let the right one out on the loose and put everyone involved in this along with xavier at risks. he had done the former for more times than he could count, assuming he even bothered enough to do that all.

lips pursed slightly while the other delivered the rather dramatic speech which had just gone from offensive to passive-aggressive, rather than saying he was offended, it was actually more of being amused and to an extent, impressed. interrogations as such went down in every way - possible and impossible. some plead for mercy, some changed their minds halfway through, guilty ones spilled everything that they were needed for, loyal ones kept their mouths tight and had their secrets rot in them - or with them because all these wound up with the same ending. except xavier was about to offer another proposal - a way out for this man. it wasn’t that he was generous ( he wasn’t known for it and he knew he wasn’t ), he just saw the value of this man to be more applicable when alive.

silence lapsed in after the other man seemed to be done talking, and there was complete stillness until xavier gave a quiet hum in response, gaze lifted in an attempt to meet that of the other’s, “i know, you’re not working for anyone else. but you’re wrong, you have been working for me and you will continue working for me” tone stern in spite of the quietness of his voice. “i can’t say the same about the others out there, but i must say we currently have the team. and you’ve managed to get past those nets they’ve set in place, so i’m putting you on this team. and guess they wouldn’t need to fill you in with everything considering you’ve already read some of that yourself.” his words leave no room for rejection, making it clear to the man that this was his only way out. unless of course, the other hadn’t caught on yet, in which case xavier would be more than glad to spell it out for him. drawing to his height, he stood in front of the man before turning around to step over to the desk, “prove you’re innocent, why waste that talent of yours” a statement, not a question, while he leaned against the edge of his desk, hands in his pockets as he glanced down at the man who was slumped against the ground less than three meters away from him.

Junhyung’s eyebrows furrowed, and his lips parted a tiny portion. He coulnd’t understand what the other was saying at first. He working for him— well, yeah. That was a fact. He worked in the hotel, but why did he say that... To continue working meant he will—

The purple haired man froze. What had happened, really? He was beaten to death, or nearly to death, because he was alive and breathing, and he obviously was capable of still talking too. He was questioned for heck knows how long now and now, now he was being told he will keep working here, but he will be on this team and help out. The man ducked his head down again, thinking carefully, trying to analyze his situation. Junhyung was a hacker, so he should have a decent flow of thoughts, otherwise he won’t be good at what he does, will he now?

His mind started building up cases and statements. If, while, until... None of them differed much with the final result. If he refused, even if there was no room for refusal, case is he would be threatened, case is his sister will get hurt, case is he will die. If he agrees but gets to work against them, he will be fine until they catch him, and judging by his current situation, that until statement will be short. No matter how much he thought and re-arranged different situations in his head, the most pleasant statement stayed: while I do as he says I and Jia are safe.

He turned his head back, so he will at least try to see the man behind him. The small action hurt, like everything he is bound to do for some time from now, but the man only let out a hiss. “Not like I can afford objecting, right?” he moved his eyes away from the man, feeling dizzy all of a sudden and looked at the wall ahead of him. “You said 'the others out there’... Who are the others, or do I find out myself?”

Junhyung should laugh. He probably will, later on, when he is laying in his bed and repeats all that happened. But now his mind was occupied in comprehending the situation, understanding it and figuring out what was needed to stay where he was. ... Well, staying alive. Staying where he is (tied to a chair and beaten up), was out of the question.

Moods, it seemed, could only worsen as time went on, as it moved in slow, agonizing waves of minutes that left her restless and impatient. The grooves and lines etched sloppily on his face were deepening, cutting and digging deeper; it wasn’t long before he looked permanently angry and annoyed, perhaps a bit flustered from the red that clung to his cheeks and nose and forehead. She could only watch as he fell further into the pit of drunken rage; though she could also hear the seconds ticking past, shriveling up into memories, into the past, bringing her moments closer to when she could leave, when she could bid goodbye with a bow of her head, a quiet thanks; that was what she enjoyed the most about paying ahead of time: that moment of definitive power when she moved away, began to make her own decisions–choices that had gravity, weight. She wasn’t helpless, then, and wasn’t coddled or commanded.

Jinah lifted her hand, found the clock on her thin wrist; there was still time left, still drinks on their way so she waited with pursed lips. Her other hand smoothed over her client’s arms, soothing the wrinkles until they disappeared for only moments, only seconds free of folds and the shadows it hid, the somber dark that it held. She hoped that his stress was relieved to; that, with a stroke of her hand, it would shrink into flecks that speckled something larger, perhaps happiness, perhaps boredom; anything other than rude, angry, and drunk was an improvement, a step up.

“The drinks will be here soon.” Even her voice had collected an air of vulnerability; one that fluttered around the air with a delicate tilt of her voice, a quiet breeze that whistled through past her lips, calming and soothing, like the sway of curtains and the smell of the sea. But the only smells there were of alcohol; its sharp stench that lingered on breaths, under them; that lined her client’s movements until each lift of the hand was harsh, each word spilled made her flinch, each tightening of the fist forced her to look down, to make sure he wouldn’t cause a bigger scene. He was an animal and she hoped to chain him down with light touches, coos, everything in her power.

The waiter had delivered the drinks; having a few more still on the tray, when he reached the female he wanted to apologize to (even if sloppily) and the drunkard he had other plans for. Later. The purple haired waiter repeated in his head as he reached for the glass of alcohol the idiot had ordered. “What took you so long, peasant?” the man spoke, loudly, harshly, insultingly. But Junhyung didn’t pay attention, at least he tried, which sadly worked against him. The drunk man stood on his feet, grabbing the waiter’s collar and yanking him so Junhyung would look him in the face.

“I was talking to you.” he spat, the horrible stench of his mouth causing Junhyung to barely contain a straight expression, and it was in that moment that he acquired admiration to the woman escorting this man. ‘Like, seriously, how did she endure this?’ he though, taking half a step back and looking at the tray, sadly seeing the half split contents of the glasses. “Fuck...” he murmured with a sigh. Another action that angered the customer. In a flash the tray ended up on the floor. Napkins, some soaked, some not; shattered glass and liquids masking the expensive carpet. How many times did Junhyung repeat in his head that today was most definitely not his day by now? Surely one more won’t hurt.

Today was not his day.

And at that moment, Junhyung lost it. He stood before the mighty heir, jaw clenched, fingers curled into fists, and if it was not for the bodyguards approaching with another customer who had informed them of what was happening, Junhyung’s fists were going to end up over the prick’s jaw. But he didn’t need to do anything. He just stood and watched as the bodyguards escorted the prick out, then one of the security guards turned to the woman, wondering what to do with her. “She isn’t with him.” the young waiter spoke to the guard, assuring him she won’t cause troubles even if they let her stay. The guard nodded and then turned around to bow to the customers, apologizing for the rusks, something Junhyung also did simultaneously. Once he was done, he turned to the female and gave her a small smile, nodding in the direction of the bar. “He will be brought to calm down somewhere. You can take a rest.” And without anything further he went back to his job, bending down to clean the mess before it got worse. Later, he told himself, he will surely apologize to her. Properly.
