'I Bet on Losing Dogs' is such a wild fic to write because you have Shadow's pov which is basically:

And then Sonic's (part2 and part3 specifically) is:

And I have to maintain consistency between the different vibes of each.

Not to mention Rouge and Abraham Tower's pov. Which Tower's pov alone is COMPLETELY different from anyone else in the fic in a lot of ways.... And then part 3 has an Andrews pov snippet which is like cracking open an entire can of worms by itself.

As a more general update: Part 2 is pretty much done, I'm literally just rereading 40k+ words whenever I get the time to and making sure everything is consistent and character choices at least make some kind of sense. 🥀

I've already caught a few mishaps on my part (like somehow forgetting the party in part 1 was at Tail's place and not Amy's, since I had it where it's implied Amy has stashed stuff at Tail's place from a previous party that tripped me up. 😭 The urge to overhaul how rough part 1 is in some regards is strong, but I'm just gonna leave it as is, like a time capsule from the beginning of this year.)

I'm sure there's some stuff I'll forget or mess up, but oh well. Just close your eyes. 🤧

Silver never gives his full name when he introduces himself while Sonic and Shadow always give their full names

I think Silver's manner of introducing himself is its western localised form of habitual rude aptness. It's like the equivalent of just saying "Hello" to your boss instead of "good morning [insert title here]."

The lack of greeting yourself with your full name in the Sonic series might just be a tad improper, but not something that'll turn people away from you. Silver doesn't beat around the bush, and even compared to Shadow, will cut out any air of ambiguity or waiting just to get to his point.

He doesn't need to tell you more than necessary, and to him, even his full name isn't worth the extra seconds.
