GENERAL ASTROLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS

My mom has a CANCER STELLIUM IN THE THIRD HOUSE with her Venus, Mars, and Jupiter, and honestly this makes her obsession with the TV show Gilmore Girls track SO hard. So if you’ve got a Cancerian or water sign third house, check out some cozy sitcoms!

My dad has SUN TRINE SATURN in his chart, and with this aspect, he prides himself on being a hard worker, and considers his career in finance to be a core part of his personal identity.

I’ve noticed that the more URANUS ASPECTS an individual has, the more unstable their life might be overall. As an example, my ex best friend has Uranus aspects to her Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Node, and Fortune, and out of my whole childhood friend group she was always the one with the most difficult home life because of a challenging relationship with her mother (Moon), father (Sun), and brother.

I just realized that my EIGHTH HOUSE GEMINI MARS might be a MAJOR reason why I’m absolutely OBSESSED with writing about themes tied to personal agency (or lack thereof), particularly in regards to marginalized demographics.

With his NINTH HOUSE SATURN, my dad had a sheltered childhood, but has traveled a lot in adulthood.

I’ve noticed that a lot of historical figures I’ve studied who made a name for themselves in the military before entering the political arena have prominent VIRGO placements, which is fitting given the sheer degree of the strategic ability that military command requires. Some of these historical figures are Dwight D. Eisenhower (Virgo Rising, 1st House Virgo Saturn), Andrew Jackson (6th House Virgo Moon and Jupiter), George Washington (7th House Virgo Mars), and George Patton (4th House Virgo Mars and Jupiter).

Looking at Robert E. Lee’s natal chart — even if we don’t know his precise birth time — it is easy to see how astrologically, he wound up being a key general in the Confederacy. One would think that his tradition-driven CAPRICORN SUN (which is nestled in a Capricorn stellium his Jupiter, Mercury, and Chiron) would end up fighting for the Union because of tradition (Capricorn) being part of his core identity (Sun), but to think this is the case would be ahistorical. At the time of the Civil War, it was more common for Americans to be loyal to their individual states rather than the country as a whole. Hence, Lee’s Capricorn Sun quite literally posits his loyalty to the Confederacy — a government that framed itself as preserving the aspects of southern heritage (COUGH slavery COUGH) being threatened by the north — as a core aspect of his personal identity.

ARIES MERCURY writes in short, “staccato” style sentences, and is not a fan of writing long paragraphs.

Tenth house is public-facing which gave him a natural perception of how to interact and communicate with others, and with his Mercury being in Virgo, that’s precisely the meticulous and detail oriented placement that one needs to excel at something like conducting.

Speaking of famous celebrity charts, Stephen Sondheim having a FIFTH HOUSE MERCURY is almost a little too on the nose for the guy who is “credited with reinventing the American musical” lmao

When one’s Mercury is nestled in the TWELFTH HOUSE, this creates a deep interest in learning about the hidden components, nuances, or other behind the scenes things associated with the sign that the Mercury placement is in. This is evident in George Lucas’s Star Wars saga, where he explores the darker side of Taurean themes such as greed and materialism. OBSERVATIONS OF MY OWN CHART

Natal EIGHTH HOUSE PLACEMENTS and/or SCORPIO PLACEMENTS might indicate that the indiividual will develop an interest in tornadoes. I’ve seen this within my own natal chart — which has an 8th house stellium containing my Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, and North Node — as well as the natal chart of storm chaser Tim Samaras, who was killed alongside his TWISTEX teammates during the 2013 El Reno EF3.

I was perusing my natal chart today to see if there were any astrological indicators of my lifelong hearing loss — I’m 70% deaf in my left ear, 30% in my right, and have worn hearing aids since I was 12 — and sure enough, in my natal chart, I have MERCURY CONJUNCT SATURN which quite literally means delayed (Saturn) auditory (Mercury) processing. The orb is 6 degrees, which means that the conjunction is somewhat wide. I feel like that wideness of the conjunction’s orb is one of the only astrological saving graces keeping me from total hearing loss at a young age, though maybe given the nature of Saturn and of hearing loss in general my hearing will worsen as I age.

The weird thing is, though, despite my lifelong hearing loss I have perfect musical pitch. I feel like I see this in my chart with my MERCURY TRINE NEPTUNE.

CANCER JUPITER natives can be drawn to some extent toward organized religion, whether it’s in the form of participating in one as an active member or studying it from afar. My ex best friend, for example, grew up in a devoutly Catholic household but drifted a bit from the religion in high school, only to return to it during her university years in full zealous force to the point that she dropped the friendship with me because of my practice of witchcraft and tarot. Her Jupiter is in the Eleventh House. My Cancer Jupiter, on the other hand, is located in the Ninth House, and I absolutely LOVE studying the theology and history of the Abrahamic religions but refuse to participate in them myself.

GENERAL OBSERVATIONS

SUN SQUARE URANUS natives — especially those with either planet in Capricorn or Taurus or at those degrees — are often loathe to do things that are outside of their comfort zone, and find it difficult to muster up self confidence in unpredictable situations.

SAGITTARIUS CHIRON natives also struggle to go out of their comfort zone, but unlike Sun Square Uranus - where it’s unpredictable situations that force the native to go out of their comfort zone - it is usually because of traumatic experiences tied to going out of their comfort zone.

An individual who has PERSONAL PLANETS IN BOTH LEO AND VIRGO tends to be meticulous in curating their public image / appearance to others.

SO MANY of my undergraduate professors in my uni’s history and English departments have at least one or more PERSONAL PLANETS IN VIRGO.

FIFTH HOUSE JUPITER may be good at predicting the outcome of games, races, or competitions.

I see PERSONAL PLANETS ASPECTING THE GENERATIONAL PLANETS as not only how those planets’ themes manifest in your own life (see the Mercury Trine Neptune example I gave above) but also as indicators of how you personally relate (or not) to themes affecting your whole generation.

VENUS OPPOSITE SATURN natives strike me as individuals who might struggle to some extent with parsing, detecting, or otherwise articulating musical (Venus) rhythm (Saturn).

AQUARIUS SATURNS and CAPRICORN SATURNS strike me as the type to be the most skeptical about the paranormal and other occult phenomena, but they may also experience a major shift in these beliefs as they approach their Saturn return.

CANCER SATURN signifies that the native might experience delayed emotional processing.

SECOND HOUSE SATURN individuals could struggle with STEM subjects in their grade school and undergraduate years.

NINTH HOUSE SATURNS also give me the vibes of someone who might go back to university to get a masters degree or PhD later in life.

Because one of the lessons that an ARIES SATURN placement wants to teach you is control over your own emotional impulses, I’ve noticed that the adults in my life with this placement — especially if they’ve already been through their Saturn Return — tend to be some of the most reserved folks I know. One of my favorite undergrad history professors is a good example of this; he cares deeply about his students to the point that he wrote a letter of rec for me for grad school, but in and out of the classroom he is deeply reserved.

Those who have their MERCURY NEGATIVELY ASPECTING SATURN strike me as the type who are most likely to have messy handwriting.

I’ve noticed that burnout - whether academic, social, or otherwise - tends to be 1) particularly intense and 2) easier to acquire whenever Saturn transits my SIXTH HOUSE. The nature of Saturn means, of course, that if you ignore this burnout while Saturn transits your sixth house, there will be consequences. Trust me on this because I’ve learned this the hard way, lol.

Fellow GEMINI SATURNS, take some of your spare time to learn about rhetoric! We tend to excel at that kind of stuff if we take the time to learn about it.

TENTH HOUSE SATURNS might not be taken seriously by others when they’re younger, but will be taken seriously as they get older.
