Modest Mouse Co-founder and Drummer Jeremiah Green Dies at 45

- “The most creative musician I ever met,” Johnny Marr says

Jeremiah Green, the drummer and Modest Mouse co-founder, died New Year’s Eve, days after revealing a cancer diagnosis.

Green was 45.

“He laid down to rest and simply faded out,” Isaac Brock said in a statement.

“I’d like to say a bunch of pretty words right now, but it just isn’t the time. These will come later, and from many people. Please appreciate all the love you give, get, have given and will get. Above all, Jeremiah was about love.”

Green played on all but one of the seven albums Modest Mouse released between 1996 and 2021. He recently left the band’s tour to receive cancer treatment.

Johnny Marr posted a photo of his former bandmate Green, calling him “the most creative musician I ever met.”
