So, that's it. That's a wrap on college. I still have some assignments, and other pieces of written work, to get done, but other than that I'm all finished - I don't have to go in again, unless I'm handing in work. It feels so surreal - How have two years gone by so quickly? It doesn't feel like long since I left school, and it's strange to think college is over, too. Most of my friends are getting ready for university, everyone seems to be applying for student finance and housing, and all the rest of it. It's crazy.
I'm glad I decided to take a year out. My Mum seems to think it's a bad idea, because I'm applying to Drama schools, and it's very rare for people to get in on their first attempt - She thinks I should have applied this year, knowing I wouldn't get in, so I'd be more ready for it next year. But, I'm excited for the year ahead. In July I have a friend coming over from the States for a month, and we have a lots of things planned, and a lot of travelling is going to be done. Until then I'm getting this work out of the way, and then I'm starting lots of new things - I'm starting to do some volunteering, and I recently joined a gym, plus I'm hoping to get a few singing lessons under my belt, and perhaps join a few clubs, if I can find anything that sounds interesting.Â
I even agreed to go camping next month. I've never been camping before, not properly. It's just not something I've ever fancied doing - I'm not fond of being outdoors at night, and I'm definitely not fond of how easily spiders and bugs can get inside tents! But I'm trying new things; I want an adventure, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. That's what this year is about for me - Trying out new things, and being brave. I've always been a shy soul; I've never had the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and do things I was afraid of, or hadn't done before. But that's changing, it really is.
In a few months time I'll probably be working, and even though I really need to be saving for moving away, I'm excited to have a proper income at last. One of the things on my 2013 bucket list to buy a random train ticket and go somewhere for the day to explore, and I intend to do that later in the year, or perhaps at the beginning of next year. Â I feel like I'm finally starting to live my life properly, and I'm actually getting out there and seeing the world, which is incredibly exciting! I only came back from Venice a week ago, and I already have all these big plans for the rest of the year. I'm going to make a post specifically dedicated to the wonders of Italy later on, but I will tell you that it was an absolutely beautiful place and I'm longing to go back. It's one of the places I've wanted to visit since I was a very young child, and I'm slowly getting through that list. Slowly, but surely, I'm seeing the world, and it's incredibly exciting.
