R.I.P. Blair house practice space. In November 2012 / Jan 2013 Nolan and I built this thing in the garage at our house when we were living together. At our last place the neighbor (Chad) called the cops on us religiously for practicing. So we decided to try and build a sound proof practice space. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing. We definitely couldn’t of done it without the help of our friends Arthur, Pat, James and a few others. I remember that winter was super cold and we had to have the garage door open while we were doing it. It sucked. Once we finished it though it was a game changer. All of our bands could practice at anytime and for as long as we wanted. Eventually we started letting friends use it and it quickly turned into DC’s cheapest practice space. At one point 90% of the punk bands in DC practiced here. Don’t get me wrong, it was kind of shitty but it was cheap, had gear (that mostly worked) and it was more or less available 24/7. Bands on tour that needed a spot would use it. Lots of bands who were in town for Damaged City used it (Career Suicide, Systematic Death, Limp Wrist, Los Crudos, The Flex, Violent Reaction,etc). Some of my most looked up to local musicians and on and on. Silly / crazy to say that this practice space and the memories along with it changed my life. I’ll miss it dearly. Big thanks to everyone who’s lived at The Blair house. The setlist is from when D.O.C. christened it. We hadn’t put anything on the walls yet or ventilation. In response to the spread of COVID-19, the DC government has passed a restriction stating no more than 250 people can gather in one space at any given time.
