i love how this season we've seen alicent scheme and manipulate more than she's ever schemed and manipulated before. every second episode it's alicent desperately pulling out all the stops to pull off an insane ploy, alicent taking a leaf out of larys or otto's book, alicent wielding what threadbare power she still has and stretching it as far as it'll go, alicent playing the cold, conniving queen again. it's awful because she wanted to be free of all this and now she's right back in it as deep as she's ever been and the stakes are higher than ever and the writing is on the wall, but she's at her worst doing what she's best at and i'm watching in fascination and horror
