[ accidentally leaves a pretty good pencil drawing of jihae on the coffee table because he forgot to hide it in a book before he left for work ]

he had been there. lately, the goblin made an attempt to be more cautious regarding those works of ART, tucking away his own creations rather carefully to avoid further teasing, the display of them within the apartment sufficient ( and his favourite piece certainly remaining iseul’s doodle in the kitchen ), though the sketch he found had him humming softly. he examined it for a few moments before deciding that it was HIS now, and so he grabbed it and let it mingle with other loose pages in his room.

[ blows him a kiss from the other side of the street & grins, much to the horror of the younger reaper next to him ]

waves back at first----- but offers a variety of indecent gestures once he spots the other reaper next to his lover, all while grinning.

[ gropes his butt in passing ]

❝ ya,❝ he exclaimed half-heartedly, the brief contact striking him as a bit off, and so he decided to get back at him for it at a later point in time.

[ teases the patch of skin at the end of his jaw purely out of boredom ]

his jaws CLENCHED at the touch by then, a hand moving to gently hit his side, as if to give a silent warning since he couldn’t muster the will to speak up when the small waves of warmth and tingles down his spine felt so oddly addicting. still, it drew a SHUDDER, if warm, to wash over him, and a drawn exhale to be released.

[ has been humming for the whole day & at some point even takes his hand in his, wraps an arm around his waist & sways gently on the spot ]

he didn’t particularly like dancing, but there were few things he wouldn’t do for seojoon, and so he decided to sway along, forehead pressed against the other’s, a hand by his cheek and a huff given, along with a whispered ‘softie’.

There were certain things he grew to expect from a goblin, be it from his brief encounter with one centuries ago or from what he had been told & what he read about them from their own private library. But Jihae had always been a bit of an outlier; not nearly as prideful and arrogant as he had first thought he’d be, with less wealth to his name than Seojoon had to his & with a lot more responsibility he carried. He shouldn’t be surprised he’d try & control what he did to the environment around him. He truly WAS as incredible as he thought him to be in his love-drunk mind. ❛ Not the kind I’d fall for. ❜ He mused, sighing softly & glancing at their joined hand before he brought them to his lips & pressed a soft kiss to the back of Jihae’s palm. ❛ I guess I just worried whether I was doing a good enough job as a lover. You’ll tell me if I ever stop making you happy, right? ❜

he always did try to be a little reserved when it came to those who knew what he was. goblins WERE known to be easily suspicious, to affect their surroundings subconsciously, to hold power even they struggled to control sometimes and certainly to be rather easily lost within them. it simply happened to be the case that jihae had practised keeping the pesky side-effects to a minimum. he shifted, then, moved and shuffled closer, slinging his legs over seojoon’s and taking a few brief kisses before gently poking his side. ❝ can’t, ‘cause it’s not gonna happen. you’re doing great, promise. quit worrying about it already. ❝

He rarely got to experience this kind of anxious nervousness that made him want to hide from everything and anything, he couldn’t even remember when the last time was that made him want to disappear so quickly. It was naturally a stupid question, but yet still one he couldn’t really shake off without Jihae’s confirmation. ❛ What? No. ❜ He clicked his tongue a little at the implication that he was that easily swayed by the younger goblin, even turning his nervousness into petty hurt that had him pout softly, though nothing that lasted for longer than two seconds. Seojoon sighed, drew one leg up onto the sofa and tapped his finger against his ankle, his gaze set on the symmetrical pattern of his socks. ❛ You forget I met a goblin before you, once. Plus, we have access to books – I just thought it was involuntary. You know, like the weather changing when you’re hurt or angry. ❜

it must have been more than a CENTURY that he had last found himself guilty of the typical flower growth. it tended to draw more attention than a sudden storm did, or overall rain, which pain and discomfort usually caused. he seemed better at handling positive feelings in terms of his abilities than negative ones. ❝ ---come on, seojoon, ❝ came his soft exclamation, hands reaching out to pry on of the reaper’s away to link their fingers, his phone put on the table before them. ❝ he’s still a twat, who knows what bullshit he’s been telling. ❝ besides, the goblin was considerably confident that seojoon would get him to break that streak of his sooner or later anyway; it was something of a matter of pride that he still insisted on keeping things bottled up--- and he felt embarrassed whenever the news reported strange happenstances regarding flora or overall weather. ❝ you make me happy. i just try not to let it screw with the environment. ❝

❛ Why don't you make flowers bloom? ❜ The question came seemingly out of nowhere, though truthfully it had been festering in his thoughts for weeks now, to the point where he grew somewhat concerned about the lack of evidence of his happiness. ❛ Do I-- ❜ He turned on the sofa until he was facing him, book placed into his lap and his bottom lip being mercilessly chewed on for a moment. ❛ Do I not make you happy? What more can I do to make you happier? ❜

❝ 뭐 ?❝ he responded almost immediately, head turned from his screen at the rather odd question, tilting lightly as he glanced at his lover. the goblin remained visibly confused for a few moments, simply because the question seemed to come out of the blue, so oddly suddenly and seemingly without prompt.❝ did iz get that stuck in your head ?❝ was the second question, a silent sigh escaping him at the mere THOUGHT of the other messing with the reaper like that.❝ i’m just FINE. just not a fan of random inexplicable flower growth, i guess.❝

[ sits on the middle of his living room, a dozen or so empty bottles of vodka surrounding him in a circle. a few of them are being stacked into a bottle pyramid though his intoxicated state makes it hard for him to concentrate & every time they topple over & make noise, he giggles & shushes them ]

pictures of nightly landscapes and the such messed with his sleeping schedule more than anything else--- but that particular request paid rather well and so he had set out that night to get everything in one go--- rather successfully. with a somewhat relieved state of mind, he entered his home, only to be greeted by the sound of bottles toppling over and rolling over the floor, a soft shushing sound following soon after. it seemed unlikely to be iseul’s doing, and yet seojoon did not particularly cross his mind right away, so when he entered the living room space and saw him on the ground, a soft sigh escaped him. his bag thrown onto the sofa, he soon approached the other, squatting down next to him and placing a hand on his arm.❝ hey, handsome. what’s with the bottles ?❝

So what if people saw them happy, loving, excited? Why was this such a taboo to display his adoration for his lover in public; you’d think as sociable creatures as they were, with how often they praised romance & love in flims, books & songs they wouldn’t get shaking heads from passerby’s or giggling, snickering teenagers – but they did, much to his quiet confusion. He didn’t let them affect his affectionate behaviour towards Jihae though as he led him through the shop, picking up the two things he had mentioned pressing scattered kisses to his temple every now & then before pushing the cart towards the check out lane. He had to wiggle out of his embrace there if only to pay and store everything they gathered in shopping bags. ❛ Now then– leave most of the food at your place, then pop to mine? Far more privacy there for me to be all yours. ❜ He spoke, disregarding the amused look the cashier threw them as he picked up one of the bags.

he never really tried to determine whether he was a giver or a taker, though seojoon certainly made him want to GIVE rather than take. he knew it would disturb a balance, that sometimes seojoon would feel like he was taking too much if jihae continued to shower him in affection the way he meant to without restraint but he was starting to grow tired of holding back just for the sake of it. a mildly offended huff pushed past his lips when the other removed himself, elbows leaning on the cart momentarily, deciding that if the reaper was to put everything away, he would simply pay him back in turn. the goblin did not miss the cashier’s look, offering a wink in turn, one that seemed to at least have him focusing on the register again. once they were past the register and jihae had picked up the remaining groceries, he pressed a kiss to the other’s cheek. ❝ sure. do you have work today? ❝

He simply wanted his entire attention on him for a few moments & he got it & it felt just as incredible as it always had to lose himself in thought, in the feeling of Jihae’s back against his hands, feeling his heart beat softly against his fingers once they pressed against his chest. It was all very revitalising and exhilarating and he wanted more of it suddenly, until he could drown in Jihae entirely & his mind could not wander to trivial things. Jihae had something similar in mind if the words that broke his soft whine were any indication & it had him grinning from ear to ear. He stole a few more loose kisses from his lips before he sought his hand with his, fingers wrapping around his palm as he dragged him away from the frozen isle. ❛ You’ve got the list, right? We can finish it quickly & we’ll be alone again, free to do what we want, hm? ❜

he wanted to curse him, sometimes, for bringing the worst out of him, overriding his determination to behave and do nothing unsightly. it wasn’t unsightly per se, not nearly as bad as some other displays he had witnessed, but the thoughts that sometimes crossed his mind were rather daring and certainly nothing even he would want to necessarily be exposed to. moving away from seojoon was difficult but he managed to do so, in the end. he followed his lead, held on to his hand and soon stood behind him, arms around his middle and head on his shoulder, lips repeatedly pressed against his neck in short, soft kisses. this much he would have to deal with until they would be done. ❝ we’re almost done, as far as i know. some vegetables left and ice cream for iz. ❝

Love was an incredibly rewarding feeling & Seojoon couldn’t really get enough of it. He was certain Jihae had been in love before ( he knew, in fact, from the painting that still hung on his hallway wall ), but for the reaper, it was a first. & he jumped into it with open arms and open heart, craving every little bit of affection Jihae gave him & stealing what he couldn’t get, wherever they were. He wouldn’t deny if someone accused him of tunnelling his vision on Jihae, how could he not when he had given him so much on so little time, when he made him feel so very warm even when he knew he was just as cold as he had always been. It made him smile though that the other fell just as easily into temptation as he did, despite being far more experienced than the reaper, having him smiling against his lips even throughout the kiss. His hands wandered then, slipped from his pockets & trailed the length of his back & back down by his sides, stopping only by his waist.

it was not a necessarily sexual matter. he would have loved to focus on something like that, would have jumped seojoon were they at home, gladly dragged him to the bedroom and spent hours after hours simply pleasing him. he did not idolise him, either. the reaper was different than him--- wonderful but different. they shared interests that drew him in but had differences that were not to be pushed aside completely. the feeling of love was one that was not explained by rationality or logic. he felt it, and he wanted to make seojoon feel it more strongly, too. nevertheless, he halted the kiss, came to an end and while he still pressed his lips against his cheeks, an arm circled his waist and drew him in instead. ❝ i want to kiss every last bit of skin on you when we’re home, so let’s get the shopping over with, yeah? ❝

He had lived separated from humanity for too long to fall into it as easily as Jihae. Too long he simply observed, mingling with their lives as little as possible for fear of someone touching him in any way or asking him questions that would only overwhelm his unprepared mind & mostly, it was just easier to stay on the outskirts & only interact with his landlords & shopkeepers, too confused by the rapidly evolving world to follow it entirely. He did not dismiss them, he just saw them as removed from his existence as he was from theirs. ❛ We’re shopping. ❜ He argued, taking one of his hands back only to open the freezer next to him and pull out a bag of frozen peas, tossing it into their cart before pushing his hand back into his back pocket, grinning. ❛ & I’m still only yours. No one’s sharing me with you here~ ❜ With that, he leaned forward & took a kiss for himself, short and loose just like the one Jihae stole.

he was a tempter, after all. jihae was weak and what little resolve he had to try and behave seemed to come off so easily when seojoon was the only thing he looked at. he was right there, at the tips of his fingers, not caring much for who was looking at them or whispering about them. his thoughts wandered easily and had it not been for his profession, he would long have given in to temptation. they were harmless at the time, love-drunk fools who couldn’t keep their hands off of each other--- but he would certainly get back to those images in his head once they were back at home. instead of arguing that people were seeing him being as soft and loving as he was to jihae was enough to have him preferring the privacy of any of their homes, he decided to lean forward once more, do away with the idea of short and sweet kisses and instead took one that lingered.

He felt human around Jihae above all else. He had always been inquisitive & curious, mischievous & searching for little loopholes in rules that he could bend to his will – & sometimes even cross if he deemed them too ridiculous, but none of it really filled him with youthful appreciation, with life and joy as much as Jihae’s near proximity did. Though he clicked with his tongue once the other spoke, huffing in annoyance as he glanced around them to see if they were being spied on. ❛ And what exactly are we doing wrong? Seriously, what is it with people & their disapproval with affection? Literally everyone does it. ❜

he felt a little too integrated into society sometimes. seojoon seemed less well-versed with conventional behaviour, still seemed to push the limits a little and YES, if he HAD to admit to it, it sometimes left him a little confused how easily he dismissed humanity as a whole. those around them bore relevance, they saw them and some had more of an impact on their lives than others--- but some simply did just that; they had an impact. they lived with them, after all. a light sigh pushed past his lips at the reaper’s reaction. ❝ we’re technically here for grocery shopping, you know. ❝ he stole a kiss nevertheless, soft and loose. ❝ ---and i like having you to myself better. ❝

They could talk. They could stare & whisper & giggle as they passed them all they wanted but nothing in the world would drag his attention away from Jihae, & certainly no mortal that would give them a disapproving huff when they were so fragile & wilting while the two of them would linger for centuries to come. ❛ What clean reputation? ❜ He mused, pushing the cart away and turning until he faced Jihae, leaning back against one of the freezers and pulling his boyfriend slightly closer to him. ❛ Who said I had a clean reputation? ❜

nothing of this reminded him of his youth, not even the fact that he had a fragile position with jobs that barely counted as a proper occupation--- and yet, he felt younger with seojoon, inexplicably so. perhaps because he often encouraged mild misbehaviour, mischief every now and against and had fewer reservations than his past lovers. a small, amused huff left the goblin at the other’s comment, gladly following his lead, a hand soon by the side of his head, the other by his hip and lips tempted to claim his--- but holding back. ❝ you know we CAN get thrown out for this, right? ❝

Even through the grin that soon spread his smile wider he managed to press a soft kiss to the edge of his cheek, nose nuzzling against the skin as he was brought closer, half wondering if he could just embrace him in the middle of the frozen section of the supermarket. Instead, he let his lips create a strings of kisses down to his jaw. ❛ Mn, nope. ❜ He didn’t really care if they’d be seen by his colleagues at this point – he felt somewhat invincible in his current state. ❛ Wanna give them something to talk about~? ❜

he was the last person to object to public displays of affection, even if some of those displays that he believed to be perfectly fine disturbed some of the people around them. he was aware of the irony of it, particularly since he was so old and yet less conservative than many mortals in their final years. his head turned, parted lips brushing against his cheek, his free hand soon resting by his stomach-- just in case he wanted to jab or push him playfully again. ❝ so much about a clean reputation~ ❝

❛ What? ❜ He mused, his smile spreading further once he spotted his lover’s grin, clicking his tongue in feigned annoyance once his elbow softly jabbed against his ribs? If they were attracting attention, Seojoon didn’t notice, too preoccupied with Jihae. ❛ Can’t a man appreciate his boyfriend a little? ❜

❝ ya, ❝ he offered softly, though let an arm move around the other’s waist to draw him a little closer. admittedly, he didn’t mind the gesture, but it did tempt him to return the favour, particularly when they were on the topic of APPRECIATING one another. ❝ haven’t had to deal with rumours at work yet ? since you’re appreciating me so much and all. ❝
