poaching fish
#MedSchoolMeals #EatToLive
Poaching fish is super easy. I should have done it throughout M1, M2.
All you need is:
- thin frozen (or fresh) fish fillets - salmon, flounder, cod, tilapia, etc.
- a pan you can float the fillets in
- random mixture of spices (lemon, pepper, onion, fennel, red peppers, whatever you like).
Directions:
1. Fill pan with water (no oil) so that there’s significant coverage for spices and future fish.
2. Bring to a simmer.
3. Float fillets in.
4. Wait 3-10 minutes (depends on sizes of fillets). Keep at a simmer. Do not allow to boil.
5. Check that fillets are cooked --> serve!!
It’s super easy and not very tasty but hey, I just need to get good nutrients and calories into my body. I am eating to live / not living to eat :) Enjoy! and please share if you have any good poaching spice recipes that are <4 items.
