Main Subject: The Advantage of Commuting

Audience: People who don’t have a private car 

Purpose: To inform that commuting can be helpful to the citizen of the Philippines

Some people would think that commuting whenever you are going to work or school is really hassled and exhausting but there are a lot of advantages that people would not mind bother to think about it because of the obvious disadvantages that commuting has seen. 

Having a private car can be a less hassle but the gasoline is very expensive nowadays due to the added tax value. However, when you commute you can get to work or school just by paying your ticket at a cheaper price without being tired of driving. Also, you do not need to worry about the maintenance of the car and your personal license if ever you caught for some violations. 

The citizen of the Republic of the Philippines must be aware that commuting every day can be helpful sometimes due to the fact that it can lessen the pollution that the car can emit and avoid the boredom of heavy traffic.

The use of social media nowadays increased due to the fact that social media can make you popular and it can create money, but then social media can also ruin one’s life by putting a shameful act of that people and gaining violent reactions disregarding of the dignity and personality of that particular person. This event can lead to depression and worst, to suicide. In addition, putting and disseminate fake news to inform net-citizen can be a dangerous act leading to misunderstanding and conflict. Also, children who can not control their addiction in using the internet, especially whenever they are playing computer games are bad for their health and it can affect them mentally and physically.

Comparison and Contrast:

Justice League vs Suicide Squad 

The both movie was based on DC Comics with a blockbuster hit in hollywood due to the captivating action scenes of the stars and astonishing story line. The difference of the two adaptation movie is that, Justice League’s protagonist are purely superheroes unlike Suicide Squad whose main leads are imprisoned rogue. However, they have one main goal: to defeat the enemy and save the world.

Justice League which was released in the year 2017, was a film about the restoration of faith in humanity and the inspiration of the selfless act of the dead Superman (Clark Kent). Batman (Bruce Wayne) came up to an idea to enlist the help of his new found ally, Wonder Woman (Diana Prince), Flash (Barry Allen), Aquaman (Arthur Curry), Cyborge (Victor Stone) to face and defeat the great enemy, Steppenwolf who is after the unity of the motherboard. Whereas, Suicide Squad, that was released in 2016 was a film of the most dangerous incarcerate super-villains who was hired by the secret government agency to form a defensive task force to save the world against the powerful threat of the goddess, in return they will have what they want. 

Justice League is not all about how brave and bold the superheroes are. It is not all about how great they are in fighting and receiving praises to their countrymen. It was all about how great a person they are by bringing the best out of a person and the way they restore the faith in the goodness of humanity. They protect people, save people and sacrifice everything to the people despite of their sufferings and burdens in fighting because they believe that hope is real, and you can see it. On the other hand, Suicide Squad was an eye-opener to everybody. In spite of the crime they did, the killings they made, the bad things they commit, at the end of the deepest sorrow and agony of the human world, they are ready to ravage the enemies and offer themselves

Cause and Effect: The First Super Typhoon in the Philippines

Its been almost 5 years since typhoon Haiyan or commonly known as typhoon Yolanda hit the land of the pearl-oriented sea in the east, the Philippines. It is recorded as one of the deadliest and ferocious storm in the world because it devastated infrastructure that costs million pesos and killed thousand of lives. 

In the view of the Local Government Unit In Tacloban, they gave signals and alerted the people to move in safer place thus almost 6,300 people died in the catastrophic calamity and spent 1 billion U.S. dollars in paying debts in just seven weeks after Haiyan ravage so much in the country.

One reason that the people was confused and was not ready to prepare everything they need is because they did not value the warnings given by the authorities, they thought that it is just a mere typhoon. 

The super typhoon Haiyan should gratify as a wake-up call to everybody especially to the climate-change negotiators in Warsaw. For the reason that humankind whose attention was transfixed on the modern technology, this disaster served as an urgent message by mother nature that our world is dying. Hence, Philippines which is always struck by almost 20 typhoons and storm must be earnest in preparations and give a more advanced warnings to be able to reduce the fatality and loss.

Extended Definition

Depression (major depressive disorder or clinical depression) is a common but serious mood disorder. It causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working. To be diagnosed with depression, the symptoms must be present for at least two weeks.

Some forms of depression are slightly different, or they may develop under unique circumstances, such as:

Persistent depressive disorder (also called dysthymia) is a depressed mood that lasts for at least two years. A person diagnosed with persistent depressive disorder may have episodes of major depression along with periods of less severe symptoms, but symptoms must last for two years to be considered persistent depressive disorder.

Perinatal depression is much more serious than the “baby blues” (relatively mild depressive and anxiety symptoms that typically clear within two weeks after delivery) that many women experience after giving birth. Women with perinatal depression experience full-blown major depression during pregnancy or after delivery (postpartum depression). The feelings of extreme sadness, anxiety, and exhaustion that accompany perinatal depression may make it difficult for these new mothers to complete daily care activities for themselves and/or for their babies.

Nostalgia

Snow started to fall on the eight day of December and the whole place was covered with scintillating snowflakes. The flowers beside the lake slowly withered and died silently. The kids were merrily playing on the lake that is now covered with ice and the people have kept themselves busy in their perspective works.

Months have passed by, and the snow that once covered the place was now replaced by blooming flowers. The birds were humming softly and melody filled the atmosphere. The sun can be seen setting at a distance and the light was slowly fading to welcome the darkness.

I shivered as the cold breeze of air kissed my skin. The sky has looked so marvelous as millions of stars brighten it. The moon glowed above, as the rays of silver light touched the ground. It was simply the night wherein darkness was most beautiful.

Love and Hatred

Bitter, sweet, and tearful: love is an untamed force. When you try to control it, it will definitely destroy you. Love is what we feel to a person who gives us butterflies in our tummies. Love teach us to differentiate the simple and perfection. Love is like riding in a roller coaster. It is universal that everybody seems to be in love with love. On the other hand, if someone you dearly love betrays you, you don’t want to feel that kind of love and pain. You wanted to shut the world. Although, lot of people still enjoy the satisfaction they receive and give to the person they love why? Because they believe that if you truly love someone, you can risk every little thing to save your relationship. They believe that people are not the same and they can change for the better. 

However, hatred is the total opposite of love. This feeling can destroy our positivity, relationship to others, and our productivity. Despite of the happy moments that has been shared, it will kill our happiness. Hatred occurs when you started to be more sensitive to what other people say or act because you differ in some factor that is not acceptable by them. That is why, both love and hatred is something that it shouldn’t be in the same aspect because it will be a disaster.

In spite of everything, if you truly love someone, love him like you’ve never been hurt. Forgive him and forget the bitterness otherwise you’ll lose the love of your life because of pride, ego, and hatred.

Activity 2: Persuasion

Luscious Introspection

Not all the aliment that is being served in a silver platter means something hygienic. Obviously as a teenager, we often say that prohibited foods such as street foods and junk foods are more dainty to eat than the good ones.  As a human being with different way of thinking, we all have our own persuasion about it, whether it is crummy or decent because of the satisfaction we get from it. It is true that, it can harm our body but how can we avoid it? We should set our own rules to stop taking unhealthy foods and control our temptation to end up eating those foods considering that all of us has freedom, a liberty that frequently put our health in danger. Undoubtedly, luscious foods are really delectable to eat. In fact, we bought viands that are highly cost just to sate our curiosity. Foods give us hale immune system so that we can perform every task that is have to be done. We should bear in mind that eating wisely such as maintaining sugar balance and cholesterol intake will result to a more productive body. In conclusion, you are what you eat, so live healthy, stay healthy for a better living.

We met and he said goodbye. 

Paced Narration:

It was eighteenth day of October, the sun shone the brightest as i could’ve ever seen and the zephyr blew smoothly to my skin. It was a perfect day, a fascinated time to see my love. I was standing in front of the church door and I saw him walking towards me. At the moment our eyes interlocked, I knew something is not right. I felt so heavy as he gets closer to me but I smiled anyway, and instantly hugged him like we haven’t seen each other for years. He hugged me, but that hug was nothing. It meant nothing now for him. weeks had passed, i thought i can still revive our dying love but now, his eyes speaks his mind. Even if he did not say a word I know what does his eyes are telling about. I managed to act like there is nothing to worry about despite of my uneasy feeling. As he removed his arms around me, I know that in that specific time, in that particular moment, we will fall apart. The love that we cherished was now destroyed. I smiled as he said his farewell, to me, to us, to our relationship. Although it is hard, bitter, and painful I was smiling the whole time and I think that is the best deed i made for me and for him.
