The Horrors Persist, But So Do I

Last post about my teeth slowed down a lot! So much so, in fact, that despite my best efforts my cavities have worsened to the tune of 1k more than the expected additional $3.5k bill to get them and my exploded molar dealt with.

Add in the inevitable interest rates, and I'm looking at an additional $5k to fix my teeth.

There's a limited silver lining, rather than needing to do the whole thing in one go for a minimum of 50% down payment, we can break things up into 3 treatments with, at least with the first one, 25% down.

So I need to come up with $530 initially and $205 a month for the next year. (At least, until the next part of the treatment gets done, which is gonna add to that monthly amount. I don't have the full finance plan on that though, I already cried in the office and that was embarrassing.)

Point being, I'm looking at any help I can get. Donations, online work, whatever. (We already have a Care Credit line in use because my dad's in the hospital for the next month while his foot heals from a major infection exacerbated by his diabetes, and if I have one more person recommend it to me, I'm gonna set something on fire.)

A lot's happened in 5 months.

Short version, my girlfriend has been covering the monthly payments out of her savings despite being fired from her job. It also means that my food stamps were cut off because of "unearned monthly income" from her, despite my appeal clarifying that it's money covering medical bills and that's it.

So, y'know. I'm stuck relying on Mom's shoestring budget (unreliable) or Dad's good mood (more unreliable) to be able to feed myself more than ramen and fish sticks until it's paid off. My last little speck of self-sufficiency being ripped out of my hands has done some really fun things for my mental health and handling of interpersonal relationships, not to mention what not getting enough nutrition does to a bitch.

We're at least down to the last $975 of the bill, but that's still 4 months of payments at the rate things are going.

So at this point, anything helps.
