About Dysphoria

Dysphoria isn’t about hating yourself. Get that false information out of here. For anyone that has dysphoria, we know that is not true. Dysphoria is a much more internally and intimate problem within a person. It is hard to explain because every trans person experience dysphoria differently and every trans person has a different amount of it. Some have it mild, while others have it more extreme.

Dysphoria is very well a cause to hating things like your body and voice and name and well, gender, obviously. Dysphoria in itself is not self hating. It is something that can cause such a thing, which is why trans people transition – to relieve dysphoria.

It doesn’t happen everyday, it doesn’t happen every hour, it’s a very inconsistent thing. Some days it will be unbearable. Some days you’ll forget it’s even there, but it isn’t gone. It all depends on how you handle it and if people have ways to help rid of the intensity. It’s hard to get a flat out description of dysphoria as it’s a personal issue.

But no, to be transgender you don’t have to hate yourself, to be transgender, you need dysphoria.
