Death at Carnal Bliss
My lover and I
Took a trip from the earth
And went on an adventure underneath the covers.
The colors seemed so vivid as we explored the bounds of being
Throwing ourselves over the cliffs, and hoping we land on our feet.
The limbs of our bodies reaching and grabbing for anything to help us on our way down
Falling at such a rate of speed that it’s hard to breathe
Gasping to dull impact of the bumps and scraps
It’s not possible to survive from these heights.
I throw my head back to even the plane and plant my feet downward to brace for impact
My lover still by my side
We reach impact, the ground shifting and breaking as we crash
The opening of our eyes to confirm the impossible
The first breath after death
Now staring into the heavens.
