The world is amazing and beautiful. I live in Townsville, North Queensland. I have a Bachelor of Science majoring in Marine Biology and Zoology, but I am not currently working in that field. My passion is photographing nature - from marine invertebrates (especially molluscs) to plants and landscapes. Most of my photos will be from this region and, if you contact me first ([email protected]), I am happy for them to be used for educational purposes. However, if you are a student or lecturer at James Cook University you may use any of these images without seeking specific permission.

http://www.gofundme.com/h1crpw Hi, my name is Melanie and I am often referred to by my friends as 'the crazy cat lady' (though a clean one, not with yucky stuff all over the house!).  In the past I have sponsered kittens and I have been the middle point for cats looking for a new home.  A few years ago a stray showed up at my door, he was hungry so I fed him, he needed love so I loved him.  I did the right thing and advertised that this cat was found, but no one claimed him - he claimed me.  I always believe in desexing my animals and so I ensured that happened.  Since then I have taken in an abused cat and have had up to three cats at any time.  Recently, with my cats aging I was down to one, until Loki found me.  

Loki is a beautiful black and white male.  He comes for food and a pat every day and will sleep on my couch - his owners moved and left him behind.  He is not desexed and he gets in to a lot of fights (though he is never violent with my cat).  He always has scrapes and scratches on his head and he has had an abcess that I have treated.  A few days ago he came home with a girlfriend - yep another one - she is gorgeous and friendly but I have never seen a cat so skinny (I've named her Kit Kat).  I need to desex these cats, I need to have them checked by a vet so I can care for them properly, so they can be loved. This is where you can help.  I worked until 2 years ago - at that time I was diagnosed with arthritis and fibromyalgia (as well as other conditions, one for which I am waiting for surgery) - I am only 31 and am now on disability. I am trying my best, I have sold household items and craft goods, but I am struggling. I need your help so I can care for these animals.  So I can get them desexed, immunised, microchipped and their teeth checked (especially Loki).  So I can feed them and I would like to buy an outdoor shelter - similar to a dog kennel, as that's where they prefer to be most the time at the moment.   Please help me with this. Money Cowries! Cypraea moneta!  The first photo is a money cowry sitting on its egg mass.  These were exposed at low tide, in the Rowes Bay Intertidal habitat.  Townsville, Queensland.
